This is the Working in Threes Thread (W.I.T.) EVERYONE IS WELCOME, especially if you've never posted before!
The guidelines are simple:
- Do some little thing to make your house less squalorous. - Do one more little thing. - Do another little thing.
Once you have 3 things done, post them here.
- Post the next 3 things you plan on doing. - Go forth and conquer, return and post again.
Remember - if you are tired or sick or injured or depressed or overwhelmed, you are in the right place!
If the next 15 minutes consists of:
- Looked at hopeless living room and felt like crying - Decided you could take empty pop can to kitchen - Put away phone book - Picked up fast food wrappers on coffee table and put them in trash
. . . YOU HAVE ACHIEVED THREE - DOM !!!
You could post:
Ta - Da's - Took pop can to kitchen - Put away phone book - Threw away McDonald's wrappers
Then your To - Do's: - Bring plates and glasses to kitchen - Put dirty socks in hamper - Bring folded towels to linen closet and put away.
Whether you do those three to-do's, or something completely different, once you've gotten 3, come back and post.
Remember to take breaks and drink water. Drinking water counts as a Ta-da!
If you can notice what the person before you did, it might cheer them up to hear from you.
Go forth, have fun, and be generous to yourself with the Ta-das. YOU DESERVE THEM!

Good Morning Rosebud and Carrie, We're leaving for Va today. I'm not even packed! But the main areas of the house are tidy. It's such a wonderful feeling. I wonder if people who have never struggled with squalor feel joy when they get up and see a table that is cleared off or a floor that you can walk on?? My dining room has been level 0 for a few weeks now, and it still gives me pleasure to get up i the morning and see it, (my bedroom door is opposite dining room.) Tadas: Got up! Made coffee / tea. Took 4 bags of trash out to the bin and took the bin down to the street. Call my Mom. Get dd up and dressed. Recycle laundry.

Good morning Merrymaid! It sure is wonderful to feel joy! I'm glad that your cleared spaces bring it to you. A reward for all your hard work! Hope your trip to VA is safe & happy. Up again after going back to snooze for a while. Wish I didn't have to go to work, but it's only for a couple of hrs late this morning, so I suppose I'll survive it. It's just that heading off to work in the middle of the day can interrupt momentum and it can take a while to get back on track once I'm home. Well, I'll try and get a good start anyway: To Do: Scoop and fresh food & water for cats Put away clean dishes from last night Check bank balance & pay some bills online Carrie

Hi everyone,
Worked late, came home with raging headache. Now that I've had a chance to eat and relax, and let the Tylenol kick in, I can tackle the housework.
Ta Da: 1. Put away the 2 loads of laundry that hubby washed and folded yesterday. YES! HUBBY DID 2 LOADS OF LAUNDRY!!! 2. Started a load of whites (which are now in the dryer) 3. Sorted the huge pile of remaining laundry and started a load of colors
1. Completed evening pet routines 2. Fed, watered, petted, and cleaned litter box for neighbor kitties while their owners are on vacation 3. Decluttered the living room
*bonus* Threw out dead, rotting herbs in kitchen
To Do: 1. Empty dishwasher 2. Reload dishwasher 3. Declutter and clean kitchen counters / sink

Glowworm - that's awesome you have managed to do anything. I worked late too and I'm ridiculously tired now.
That said, the Act #3 of the independence from squalor list will just have to wait. The house is falling far behind, and I can tell I'm getting stressed out both because of work and that. So, back to the rest of it for a bit before I can forge ahead I guess.
No TaDas yet, just ToDos. 1. Find Dinner 2. Throw out everything on the brown sofa. I dont have the time or energy to clean and sort what has not already been taken to goodwill. 3. Clean the dining room table off.
