I am signed up at another forum to try and toss 2010 things in this year. I thought it might be fun to issue a challenge to anyone here that would like to try. I figured out that if you started today and tossed 6 things a day, you would reach that goal of 2010 a day and a half early and could celebrate the NEXT NEW YEAR with a lot less stuff. I have been keeping a running tally in a little notebook for the other forum, but I will post STARTING today in this forum.
January 24 3 butter dish lids, butter dishes nowhere to be found 2 onesies too small for growing boy 1 handful of grocery store receipts from my purse

Actually, its a forum set up for people looking to live a simpler or more self sufficient lifestyle. They have sections for home, food, money, lots of diverse categories. It is a place I stumbled upon several years ago, but was not in a place in my life where I felt i was ready to make some of the changes they talk about there.

not counting what I've done before or what I will do after posting this, I have tossed 6 lipsticks, 5 other miscellaneous beauty gadgets, 2 almost empty beautiful glass spray cologne bottles, a frosted glass vase/votive that is beautiful but I don't need it, 2 small bags of trash, and a big bag of recycling ready to go out the door. that's 16 things, right there. thanks for posting this pepe.
1994 and counting.

Peppermint thank you for posting this and I will definitely join you in getting rid of 2010 things this year. I will start with the things that went out yesterday. I was able to get rid of 12 bags of items and an ottoman. I was also able to throw out 3 bags of trash and my recycling which means I have 1993 to go.

I was thinking that I did not have that many things to throw out anymore. Then I remembered that the last thing I threw out was a jar containing several hundred nails, screws etc so that means that I threw away several hundred things a few days ago. I am very proud of myself.

Last two days I got rid of 22 items, bags of trash, toiletries, kitchen junk, that sort of stuff. I have advantage over Rory. I have lots of stuff since I'm just beginning to dig out. Having a rough day today, but it's not over yet. Can certainly throw out a few things before the day is done.
1974 so far ...

I got rid of two bags of trash that were sitting by the front door for a couple of weeks, 2 boxes of pizza, 2 empty soda bottles, and 3 small bags of cat litter. I love this challenge, thanks for starting it.

I'm posting recents: the empty bottle from some seriously bad sparkling apple raspberry juice. And -- an old paperback of short stories containing a fantastic masterwork by Faulkner -- the pages fell apart in yr fingers whenever you touched it. It was in pieces. And I sent back one of the nonworking phones. And returned a book and cd I cldn't renew. And the sun ny times mag. Hmm. The list is growing.
Three recently acquired mascaras that were dead. The moldy bagels and English muffins, and all the chicken. Geesh, who knew?
The dead irises are in a brown bag, ready to leave.
