...i knew a lady who used a dentist mirror, the type with the bended neck, to check under the edge of her toilet for proper cleaning technique. i told this to someone else, to show that this was just not the particular cleaning site for me, and they were tickled pink at this great idea and wanted to do it themselves. . Oh great; now I'm trying to convince myself I don't need to immediately order this from Amazon so I can do the same thing...

My friend recycles everything she can. She will take all used plastic/styrofoam/thick paper plates and cups wash them all. Set them to dry. Doesn't just toss these dirty plates, you know, because they are ALL RECYCLABLE. Same thing with the cans, bottles and plastic utensils. Guests and family are told not to throw those plates in the garbage. Even after a big picnic, those plates and things are gathered by her to be cleaned. I think that's going overboard, and it's too icky to deal with this stuff. Well at least she does NOT reuse these things to eat on!!! the are neatly recycled. But, She doesn't bother other people at their homes to wash this stuff when she visits for dinner, etc, and she will toss them, reluctantly, when she visits. At Christmas, all used wrapping paper is , folded and recycled and so is all packaging paper. A big sign in her garage is a reminder: "REUSE/RECYCLE!!!!" And her home is very neat and clean.

you shouldn't recycle paper with grease on it. it totally ruins the paper they try to make. this is why you can't recycle pizza boxes.

Hmmm...where I recycle they accept pizza boxes as cardboard...doesn't say anything about cleaning out the boxes first, so I don't and I do recycle them. My mom is a hoarder and she also is proponent of recycling. So am I, but sometimes, just to be rebellious I guess, I will throw away a glass or plastic bottle just to prove I CAN. Egads, I can be a strange person sometimes... ! BF

By law , here, we HAVE to recycle. All of our trash has to be in clear or translucent bags and all recyclables must be seperate. Up til the 1st of March, all recyclables had to be sorted. Recently, our town contracted with a company to sort them, so they can all go together now. Does make recycling much easier. In the city here (we have a City of and a Town of) they are actually sending around recycling "police" to make sure that residents are seperating their trash and recyclables and all trash is in the proper type of bag. No black or dark bags allowed. First offense, your curbside items get stickered as a warning and will not be collected. Second offense, you will be fined.

The closest I have come to cleaning out the mailbox is after a major snowstorm. How this happens I don't know, but the wind manages to completely fill up the inside of the mailbox with snow. This is a metal box without any holes and the front cover latches shut. I have been known to take a spray bottle of red paint to the mailbox pole. Reminds me -- I should do that this year. It's "red" to annoy our conservative homeowners' association with their rules on bland house colors. But, no rules for mailboxes Actually, keeping up outside appearances goes hand-in-hand with cluttered insides.
