"What have you learned, Dorothy?"
"Well, I - I think that it - that it wasn't enough just to want to see Uncle Henry and Auntie Em. And that it's that - if I ever go looking for my heart's desire again, I won't look any further than my own backyard, because if it isn't there, I never really lost it to begin with."

“Usually when we hear or read something new, we just compare it to our own ideas. If it is the same, we accept it and say that it is correct. If it is not, we say it is incorrect. In either case, we learn nothing.” ~ Thích Nh?t H?nh, The Heart of the Buddha's Teaching: Transforming Suffering into Peace, Joy, and Liberation

“You have learnt something. That always feels at first as if you have lost something.” ~ George Bernard Shaw, Major Barbara
“I had a professor one time... He said, 'Class, you will forget almost everything I will teach you in here, so please remember this: that God spoke to Balaam through his ***, and He has been speaking through asses ever since. So, if God should choose to speak through you, you need not think too highly of yourself. And, if on meeting someone, right away you recognize what they are, listen to them anyway'.” ~ Rich Mullins

Hello One of my favorites: Growth itself contains the germ of happiness. (Pearl S. Buck) I try to remind me of this whenever I feel intimidated by something that's lying ahead of me, requiring new skills or a change in my mindset. And - going through these phases of growth - I've found that the quote is actually true.

~ McLandburgh Wilson*
