"And if you're ever distressed, cast your eyes to the summer sky when the stars are strung across the velvety night. And when a shooting star streaks through the blackness, turning night into day, make a wish and think of me. Make your life spectacular." -- Robin Williams as the character Jack in the movie "Jack".
"To live... to live would be an awfully big adventure." -- Robin Williams as the character Peter Pan in the movie "Hook".

“The best thing for being sad," replied Merlin, beginning to puff and blow, "is to learn something. That's the only thing that never fails. You may grow old and trembling in your anatomies, you may lie awake at night listening to the disorder of your veins, you may miss your only love, you may see the world about you devastated by evil lunatics, or know your honour trampled in the sewers of baser minds. There is only one thing for it then — to learn. Learn why the world wags and what wags it. That is the only thing which the mind can never exhaust, never alienate, never be tortured by, never fear or distrust, and never dream of regretting. Learning is the only thing for you. Look what a lot of things there are to learn.” ~ T.H. White, The Once and Future King

“If we let ourselves, we shall always be waiting for some distraction or other to end before we can really get down to our work. The only people who achieve much are those who want knowledge so badly that they seek it while the conditions are still unfavorable. Favorable conditions never come.” ~ C.S. Lewis
And it's the same with cleaning, we have to seek it even if there's a lot to be done outside of the house and there are so many other things competing for our attention, there won't be an "after" in which to do it.
It's the same with dieting, we won't start "after the holidays," because there will be another holiday.
Anything worth doing is worth doing, even when and maybe even especially when the conditions are not favorable.

“Then why do you want to know?"
"Because learning does not consist only of knowing what we must or we can do, but also of knowing what we could do and perhaps should not do.” ~ Umberto Eco, The Name of the Rose

Papermoon, i agree. Thomas Edison used to say experiments that didn't work weren't failures, he'd just discovered something else that didn't work, so he could refine his process.
And on that note:
Lucy Van Pelt: You learn more when you lose.
Charlie Brown: Well then I must be the smartest person in the world!!!
~ Charles Schultz "Peanuts"

“Learn everything you can, anytime you can, from anyone you can, there will always come a time when you will be grateful you did.” ~ Sarah Caldwell
Everyone can teach you something, even if it's to teach you want you don't want to do or how you don't want to be.
