I've decided to change this quote : Instead of worrying about what people say of you, why not spend time trying to accomplish something they you will admire. Dale Carnegie

It takes a real storm in the average person's life to make him realize how much worrying he has done over the squalls. Bruce Barton
and this fits to this website, no?:
People spend time worrying about things they think they have to have and lose perception of what they do have. You can have all the money and material things you want. If you aren't here to enjoy them, what good do they do? Eric Davis

My first being hitting my head on the top bunk bed until I faint." "Housework can't kill you, but why take a chance?" "Best way to get rid of kitchen odors: Eat out." ~ Phyllis Diller luv, cc

Hi ramatama! Thank you for the marvelous additions to the quote thread. (I quite liked how you altered the Dale Carnegie quote--we should all spend more time working to be proud of ourselves and stop worrying so much about what others may think.) I'm so glad you like the Phyllis Diller quote, CC! It's one of my absolute favorites. No one could put a funny spin on housework like her and Erma Bombeck. (When it comes to keeping house, I need all the humor I can get.) And that Eric Hoffer quote is so very true--thanks for sharing it once again. (You can never hear the good ones too many times.) I'm happy we were able to brighten your day.

Ramatama, you are so very welcome! I love both of those quotes, but especially the one about napping while you're supposed to be worrying. I'm always looking for an excuse to take a nap. I hope your friends enjoy the quotes too.

Ally, thank you so much for sharing that quote. I love Corrie Ten Boom's work--her life is a tremendous testament to the power of faith. But did you know that quote was not originally hers? (I didn't either until I began this particular quote thread.) The quote “Worry does not empty tomorrow of its sorrow, it empties today of its strength” actually came from the writings of Charles Haddon Spurgeon. Spurgeon (1834-1892) was a British Particular Baptist preacher who was so influential among so many different Christian denominations that he became known as the "Prince of Preachers." He is estimated to have preached to ten million people in his lifetime. (He obviously preached a lot. However, I am sure that he would have been honored to have a woman such as Corrie Ten Boom quote him in her work. Thank you so much for contributing to the thread!
