Today I am working on my 'always & forever' hot spot, my computer desk. I've put away 6 shirts and 3 socks, 2 pairs of workout shoes, 2 slippers and 1 pair sandals. Then I started on the purses. I picked up a brown & beige one that I'm going to put away until fall, emptied it out, started to put it away and felt a little lump. I open the inside zipper pocket and find $590 in cash! Cash is now in my secret, private drawer. End of story.

OMG! I just checked a second purse from my hot spot and found $403 in cash. All of you, right now, get up and go check your hot spot. Right now! Do it!!!

I've been searching for $400 that's allegedly somewhere in my mother's papers. Dad gave it to her to buy a hearing aid 30 years ago. And, it disappeared into her drawers of envelopes. Now I see it found a new home in your purse

Wow, I wish I had "hot spots" like that. If I look in an old purse or pocket and find a dollar bill instead of change, I feel lucky!

never know what we might find when we start to declutter around us! So far, I haven't found anything that nice... only a calender still in great shap from 1970 that is hanging as a display piece in little kitchen. Kudos on cleaning out your purses! May you find more "treasure" as you do! Jkai3

I thought I was doing well! 20 years ago I cleaned out my car and found $160 in cash and food stamps. All this time I've been thinking I was ahead of the game!

When I clean out my purse or around my computer desk, all I ever find are more bills. Once had an ex-hubbie who dropped 100 pounds and put clothes out for yard sale; I found $200 in the pocket of a pair of golf shorts that didn't sell -- and he wondered why we never had any money.

BonBons -- That is so awesome! I doubt that I can find that kind of stash lurking in a hot spot, but you never know! MessLyby -- that is so funny! Glad you found that before you sold them. CD

How great! This morning I decided I was going to tackle one (if not the second) hot spot in my apt. I just sat down to take a break and get some inspiration, and now I've got it!
Don't think I'll find anything like that....but I'm always happy to see change. I've already found about $10 worth.
Back to work!

I cleaned up my forever hotspot-my bedroom dresser, where I've been sticking "valuables" for years-like my earrings, receipts, kids school photos, etc. I even found a ring I though was missing and a photo of my late father hugging my mother, a real treasure. I decided to give myself a month to remove three items a day. That would mean 150 items in a month, which was my guess how many things covered that dresser. well, I did three things, then three more, quit till the next day, did three more, and on the third day I just kept going. I stopped counting. But I got that dresser down to bare wood. Now when I'm feeling overwhelmed, I think of how I conquered the dresser monster.

Hey Bonbons, you are right! I just finished one hot spot and found something I have been craving for several days but wouldn't let myself buy -- a nice big chocolate bar (I only eat a square or two a day so it will last a while). I had to do a dance of joy! (I haven't started on it...it hasn't been unwrapped or opened...it was nicely wrapped in the plastic bag from the store from where I bought it...I would estimate its age at about 2 months. Yippee!)
I don't think anything fun/interesting will turn up in my 2nd hotspot that I will work on tonight, that's ok, I've got chocolate. And I will be glad to get rid of the crap lurking in that 2nd hotspot!
Fluffernut, loved your testimonial about your dresser. Sounds like mine and it might be an approach that will work for me. Thanks!
