Here's my list - what's yours? eyeglasses reading glasses Scotch tape pens writing pads/notebook paper scissors address labels stamps hair-tie thingies stapler(s) permanent markers to label CD-Rs and other stuff What prompted me to start this thread was that I was quite "perturbed" that I couldn't find my stamps (this is bill-paying night!). So I took a peek behind the computer desk (in a corner against the wall) and managed to shovel out paper clutter plus FOUR Scotch tape dispensers! My goal is to find permanent homes for these items and keep on a rigid schedule of putting things back in their places. Please add to the list and join in! Little_Ninja

Well, there was a time I would have said keys but I no longer lose those.
I'm always losing one of the books I'm reading. I have to look all over the apartment, including in the bag I take when I go to a store, the bag I take on dog walks, and the bag I take to visit my sister. I guess if I wasn't reading 7 books at one time I would keep track of them better!
I do misplace scissors too, even though I have several pair and try to keep one in each room.

In the past few years I have become pretty strict with myself about IMMEDIATELY putting things back where they belong when I am finished using them, so mostly that's not a problem anymore.
What IS a (growing) problem is setting something down in a somewhat unusual spot "just for a second" and then. ..POOF!. . . it's gone in the blink of an eye! I did it this very morning with a water bottle which I finally discovered after a 10-minute search on a shelf in the bedroom where I keep shirts.
My short-term memory is going. . .going. . .POOF!

nail clippers flashlights cordless phone (always when the battery is dead, so you can't page) pencil sharpeners
These are things the kids walk off with, in addition to the items on your list minus the glasses. Of course, none of them ever took the item in question from its place.
Good idea for a thread.

Diane But this is WHY I am reading seven books at one time! I don't keep good track of them!

dtesposito, I have this vision of my parents helping me clean my apartment after my first move. They took all the scissors they found in the apartment and lined them up on the windowsill. Interesting comment all round.
I don't lose my keys AS MUCH since I pin them to the last outfit I wore and since I made about five copies of each key.
I lose handouts in my minds in class while lecturing. Actually, school-related paper is a huge stressor because I spend most of my waking hours focussing on it.
I lose
--crochet hooks (all over the house) --hair combs --Sharpies (I never have a pen to hand when talking to a student) --earrings --sheet music (never have it looking the same way). pages of things. --anything really important right before a trip--birth certificate, passport. I never know where they are.
I'm sure I could think of others ...

Occasionally keys when I don't put them back where they belong. Reading glasses which don't have a home yet. That's about it.

here is my list, with problems and some solutions: -- eyeglasses are on my face, if I am awake -- eyeglasses are on my night table if I am asleep -- reading glasses: one lives beside the computer; one lives on top of the piano -- other reading glasses: these float around and get forgotten and lost and and and -- my car and house keys: live in my purse -- my work keys: live in basket with work garage door clicker: problem: I have to remember to take them with me: half a problem -- DearHubby's gardening scissors: these get lost all the time, then are found in the garage, outside somewhere, on top of his dresser, wherever -- all extra keys have a permanent home: a key-shaped key holder, quite cute, gift from Mom: hung up in kitchen i could write more, but am too hot tired and generally unscrambled because of the weather, alas

The only things I lose regularly are my cell phone and my tweezers. And with the cell phone, I don't lose it - I just forget to take it with me. I put it on my desk at work, and then forget to put it in my purse to go home. I put it in my purse, but forget to take it out when I get home.
I miss a lot of calls.
I have two pairs of tweezers. One of them lives in my medicine cabinet, so I always know where it is. But the other tweezers, which are supposed to live on my desk, regularly get lost in the junk. I haven't seen them in about two months, but I'll probably find them when I get around to clearing my desk off.

cleaning supplies. I end up with multiples of everything because my under-sink cabinets are jammed full and it is hard to tell what I have and do not have.
my dog's collar. They have to come off so the harnesses can go on, and I can somehow lose track of them

i depend on reading glasses. I can't read a newspaper or even heat up a TV dinner without them. I've bought and lost at least ten pairs. Imagine my surprise last week when I went out to my vegetable garden to pull weeds and FOUND one of my pairs of glasses!

The measuring tape, definitely. I think I own at least 3 but I can never find one when I need one. Scissors Pens tape - any kind children's tylenol/motrin/benadryl, etc. (the bottles end up buried in the kitchen or on my daughter's dresser) tiny screwdriver we sometimes use to replace batteries in things my daughter's Nintendo DS P.S. - anyone in need of hair thingies can come over and "shop" my daughter's bedroom floor.
