We have a lot of creative minds here! There are a lot of them. You can vote for TWO. I will take the top 2-3 and we can take another vote. I really think we need to narrow it down, there are a ton of them here! Once we get it narrowed down, we can vote on 'take OSAAT or taking OSAAT', and if we keep the URL in the name. (we will keep the link as is, no matter what name we choose) Happy voting!!

Hmmm. I am having lots of difficulty with the names. You see, my physical squalor has not changed all that much since I first joined SS. But my mental squalor has lessened. That is why I picked the two names with the word "Serenity."

I don't know if it's too late to provide a suggestion, but I thought "Elephant Bites" (Overcoming Squalor One bite at a time) could be an insider's hint to what the site was about.

Hi all; what a bunch of creative minds we have! I agree with the idea of having serenity somewhere in our name, because serenity is what happens when we step out of squalor and we want to give hope.
I am nowhere near out of squalor, but am taking steps, step by step to get out. That's why I like the idea of one step at a time to serenity, and keeping squalor in the title so that people can find us. I even like the name we have right now! CC

Hi everybody,
I would opt for a short name:
- One step
- One step at a time
- Taking one step at the time
... and then maybe add somthing else in a subtitle.
"Squalor Survivors" was short.
But I did not much like the SS abbreviation. That abbreviation was also used during Nazi time (Hitler's Schutz Staffel). Has anybody else ever thought about that?
Also I might like to tone down the "squalor" aspect a little. There are all degrees within our ranks, from people who have achieved an immaculate home (less than zero) - to 4th or 5th degree. Everybody should feel welcome.
This site looks very promising and I think it can get to be as good as the old site used to be, with everybody's participation. Let's work on it together!

( considering my background and where i live ) but then, i made up my mind to replace that meme (in the Dawkins sense) with thinking of those two SS letters in a positive sense from now on... agree that new board name should be short and resulting acronym be a positive one.!

Yes, the SS by itself also reminded me, but SS-Sibs was a different word and a different meaning.

Oh my yes... I also always cringed a little with the SS short form.
It reminds me of a true anecdote... in my German Lutheran church, a few years back, the secretary posted a sign on our outdoor message billboard. It read:
SS picnic will take place on June Xth.
She meant Sunday School, but as soon as we realized how inappropriate it sounded, coming from a German congregation, we quickly had her change the sign

The name "Squalor Busters" belongs to a private email group.
The name "Step Out of Squalor" could be abbreviated S.O.S. (if you disregard the word "of").
S.O.S. is relevant because it refers to a cry for help -- it is an internationally recognized radio "distress signal".

I like *Stepping out of Squalor (SOS)* best, but could put serenity in it by changing 'Stepping" to "Serenity", so it would read "Serenity Out Of Squalor" or "Serenity Over Squalor" (SOS). Just a thought, though it has arrived late.

please please don't take "squalor" out of the name. regardless of degree it's the first time I'd ever known what was going on or had a name for it. That word itself may not sound nice but it was such a big relief to me to find it and hear it...please don't take that out of the title. Other people need to be able to find this place.
