Here is the link to the Book Review [resources] section of our predecessor web-site: "Squalor Survivors". www.squalorsurvivors.com/resources/books.shtmlSome of the books mentioned by Sidestep are reviewed more fully on this web page. I was honoured to do some of the reviews: truly I learned SO MUCH and found these resources truly helpful. Thanks to all who contributed there and here.

New & improved! Please note that all book titles are now hyperlinked to their respective Amazon page!
Edited to add, please note that this reference list was made to help capture what our SOS members impressions were on the books that are listed while providing the Amazon order & review list. The list is in the order of which was more recently discussed at SOS.
Please note the Squalor Survivor's link at the top contains the original bookreview list, & they have been repeated here if SOS members have mentioned them in SOS threads.
Also please note that this is a sampling & more member's recent comments can be found by utilizing the search feature located in the top task bar!

Thanks step for this list! I have the Peter Walsh book and to be honest it didn't help much. I kept feeling like he is a non-hoarder who is a bit too judgmental about our problem. I read (but didn't but) "Stuff" cover to cover and it was FASCINATING!! I couldn't put it down! I related so much to the people profiled in it. Also sounds intriguing- "Get It Done When You're Depressed". I know how hard it is to do anything when you are in the midst of depression. Again, thanks step! I'll definitely refer to this! Dare

I'm glad this thread popped up again, thanks to mynicehome and CourageouslyLion SeeksSerenity. I'd like to add another book that I often refer to for help: "Martha Stewart's Homekeeping Handbook"... it's a huge book at 400+ pages but user-friendly, not daunting.

Thank you papermoon! I hadn't seen this thread before even though I have read a lot of threads here from the beginning up to the present time. This thread does deserve to be a "favorite" but I'm wondering if other casual readers of General wouldn't benefit too? I wonder if a thread can be duplicated?

sidestep - i just revisited this thread; yay! i'm so impressed how you set up thread links so we can read more discussion on some of these books. my reading list just got longer. Thanks so much for your good works! i've read quite a few books on hoarding, clutter, and organizing - and there are so many more i haven't yet read that are listed here. i loved the two Brooks Palmer books you listed; especially Clutter Busting Your Life - mainly because of his intuitive way of getting right to the heart of matters with his clients - to those emotional places that keep us stuck and keep us from realizing the lives we want to live. his books moved me. not that it always works to go in, get right to the meat of the matter - for hoarders, this process may be much slower because of the physiological components in the brain. But still, Palmer's book was one of the best i have read; his empathy hit people in their hearts, they were able to see the truth of things and from there, it seemed, more easily and quickly make changes. I learn so much from the people here - thank you for cataloguing some of these books, and thanks to the reviewers.
