I actually took the time to look up my original introduction from the Net54 site. It`s amazing how much has changed and yet how much is the same in just over 4 years.
I`ve had some extreme health challenges in the last several years. I have Sjogren`s, Lupus, & Pulmonary hypertension, which have led to several hospitalizations and extreme limitations at times.
When I first joined, I was still able to do marathon cleans at times, but was at least on the edge of hoarding. Kept way too many things for sentimental reasons or "just in case". I also didn`t have any good habits for maintaining and my family was way too used to me doing everything housework related. My house is still usually a "1st degree" untidy, but without all the support and good advice I`ve learned here, I shudder to think where we would be. I can`t work as long or as hard as I used to, but am proud of having managed to keep things from totally falling apart. Since March 2004, we have rented (and filled!) a large dumpster, my kids, now 11 and 16, have assigned chores and have learned to do many basic housekeeping tasks, I`ve learned to work smarter, not harder, and have learned tricks such as "erasing the evidence" and putting things away in their established homes. I still have quite a ways to go, but I`ve purged an incredible amount and am so much better now at being able to get rid of things.
I really credit and thank all of you incredible people, and especially Pigpen, for keeping this going and giving me (and countless others) daily inspiration and support to keep at it.
((hugs to all!!)) SM
