I am the person who finds good items at our dumpster and *saves* them. The neighbors throwing sometimes new stuff are the non-hoarders. I'll try to follow this unfamiliar idea.

I just discovered this old thread on the topic of Freedom from any obligation to keep unwanted giftstakeonestepatatime.proboards.com/thread/4143(I've just added its link to the opening post on page one of this Amnesty thread)

Bumping this thread I am just starting the process of getting my home in order This is all so new to me; I want to get things in order = but it takes much thought and time - more than I thought it would. At least for me. But then, I move slow. And I am very visual. Most of my clutter is hidden, in the closets, etc. Some in a couple of baskets that are not visible to most other people, for example on the side of my bed that no one can see. My closets are bursting out at the seams. - I know you can tell that I am new, VERY new. Amnesty; I needed to read this! Perhaps others, especially newer people will like to read also. Thanks, Meg

Revisiting this thread today , to help use the concept of amnesty in other aspects of my life. Self-forgiveness is a valuable skill which I'm having to relearn for the sake of my sanity...

I wanted to bump this old thread to the top again. Here's amnesty for those of us who need it!

Amnesty. Really. I can throw out something, even if....
I've just tossed a few things that I struggled with for a long stretch.
The voice that says, "but,...." still talks.
But, I am actually at peace with having put the things into the trash.
