This is the W.I.T. (Working in Threes or 3's or whatever) thread. EVERYONE IS WELCOME, even if you've never posted before!
The guidelines are simple:
- Do some little thing to make your house less squalorous. - Do one more little thing. - Do another little thing. Once you have 3 things done, post them here.
- Post the next 3 things you plan on doing. - Go forth and conquer, return and post again.
Remember - if you are tired or sick or injured or depressed or overwhelmed, you are in the right place!
If the next 15 minutes consists of:
- Looked at hopeless living room and felt like crying - Decided you could take empty pop can to kitchen - Put away phone book - Picked up fast food wrappers on coffee table and put them in trash
.... YOU HAVE ACHIEVED THREE - DOM !!!
You could post:
Ta - Da's - Took pop can to kitchen - Put away phone book - Threw away McDonald's wrappers
Then your To - Do's: - Bring plates and glasses to kitchen - Put dirty socks in hamper - Bring folded towels to linen closet and put away.
Whether you do those three to-do's, or something completely different, once you've gotten 3, come back and post. Remember to take breaks and drink water. Drinking water counts as a Ta-da!
If you can notice what the person before you did, it might cheer them up to hear from you.
Go forth, have fun, and be generous to yourself with the Ta-das. YOU DESERVE THEM!

Good morning, Rexroth & Rosebud. I'm still up. After spending most of yesterday laying down due to headache...only just now getting sleepy. So, tadas...continued from yesterday... Tadas: 1)re-bagged bag of shreds...has to be in clear bag (very frustrating even though one can see this bag contains shreds...not good enuf). Have finally found a use for those clear dry cleaning bags...put shreds in them & tie the ends. That was the suggesting of the city dept. that handles the recyclables. 2)shred for 30 minutes 3)fold/hang load of laundry More tadas: 1)shred for another 30 minutes 2)put folded/hung load of laundry away 3)shred for another 30 minutes--did I mention that the last 2 30minute sessions were papers from 1988!!! Todo: GO TO BED! CD

Good Morning,
Thanks again, Rosebud, for starting the thread.
CanDo, Sorry about your headache. You must have boundless energy to be posting at both ends of the day (even with a nap) and accomplishing things, too.
Rexroth, good work on getting started.
It is the Memorial Day holiday here and a beautiful sunny day. There will be a parade down our street. Slowly, thanks to DH, our yard is looking better and better. My garden still needs work.
TADA: 1) The dog routine 2) Drank coffee, surfed the net, looked at email, sent out a major email. 3) Stripped our bed and started the wash with the sheets PLUS: The first round of meds.
TODO: 1) Shower and dress for going out to breakfast. 2) Work on the kitchen table 3) Finish the pile of filing for the last two weeks.

1.) Vaccume living room 2.) Pick up all toys 3.) Start going though storage closet, getting rid of anything we are not taking when we move. (which is hopefully a lot!)

Good morning, everyone (maybe goodnight to cando?!)
Since last posting on Saturday (prior to cleaning house for sleepover) it's been a whirlwind. I did a lot of bagging/boxing/hiding of stuff on Saturday. I put most everything in my bedroom closet, which I had just made a dent in last week (as in, yes, there is a floor, virginia!). SO, now there is no longer a floor and I have to do some acrobatic stretching to get shoes out from behind the mountain. Quite discouraging actually, but hopefully I'll be motivated to go through it before it grows roots...
The good news is, that the main living areas have a veneer of orderliness and cleanliness. I want to set up a system of duties so that the rest of the family will help keep it nice, but I'm not quite ready to deal with it yet.
so for now.. tada's: -read "feeling good" for 1/2 hour -unloaded and reloaded dishwasher -wiped down the counter
todos (I feel like being outside, it's beautiful and sunny here) -plant flowers near roadside -weed back landscaping -take dd#2 out to look for bathing suit (for you guessed it, the end of the year school party!)

Hi Madtiger and everyone else, Great job working on the filing today. That's something I need to do myself. However, I have a more pressing problem that only the WIT thread can help me with: The maid is not coming today. I will not freak out. She took the day off to spend it with her family. I will not freak out. She will be back in 2 weeks. I will not freak out. I am more than capable of cleaning my own house this week. I am freaking out. TaDa: 1. Stripped the bed, sheets in the washer. 2. Took the trash out of the master bathroom. 3. Pouted a bit over the maid not coming. ToDo: 1. Empty the dishwasher. 2. Reload the dishwasher and handwash the stuff that can't go in there. 3. Wipe down the counters. Back in a few minutes.

Hi Glow Worm, You have a real person who comes in and cleans for you? That sounds so luxurious, even if you have to wait 2 weeks for her.
Hi Hypatia, missed you while I was posting. Glad to see that you are brave enough to be an administrator.
LITTLE TADAs:
1) Finished working on filing 2) Finished hanging out laundry load 1. 3) Took trash bag to basement (a/k/a cellar or dungeon). Put something in it.
TODO: 1) Take a nap (This tiger runs out of energy early) 2) Another trip to the basement and cope with something. 3) Start another mini load - dress shirts or baby bedding.
** Discuss with DH a place to put packaging material in case he decides to de-clutter on eBay. Also a new clothesline Also the bedroom air conditioner (need a new one and a green way to get rid of the old one.)

Good job, Hypatia and Madtiger! Madtiger, yes, I admit, I have a cleaning lady. She was hired shortly after I realized that she can get more accomplished in three hours, than I can in three days. TaDa: 1. Dishwasher emptied and reloaded 2. Hand-washables hand washed 3. Countertops disinfected 1. Wiped down the outside of the stove and fridge 2. Wiped down the microwave, inside and out 3. Wiped down the canisters and stuff on the countertops 1. Cleaned the front of the cabinets 2. Talked hubby into changing out the mop head for me (I'm not strong enough to do it) 3. Cleaned the toilet in the guest bathroom 1. Moved sheets from washer to dryer 2. Cleaned the sink, counter, and mirror in the guest bathroom 3. Took the newspapers and cans out for recycling 1. Ironed a clean tablecloth for the kitchen table 2. Cleaned the toilet in the master bathroom 3. Uh, that's it. ToDo: 1. Shake out the rugs 2. Sweep the kitchen, foyer, and laundry room 3. Mop the kitchen, foyer, and laundry room
