Messyme posted a link to this blog article a while back called, "Stuff." www.paulgraham.com/stuff.htmlThe line, "The really painful thing to recall is not just that I accumulated all this useless stuff, but that I often spent money I desperately needed on stuff that I didn't," really got to me.

A hint from someone at another website: www.psmag.com/health/hoarding-science-55196/ An excerpt from the article: Many of us face, to some degree, some disorganization. We struggle with the desire to keep things because we think we may need them later, or because we want to preserve the memories associated with them. We look at the dusty boxes in the back of our attics and promise ourselves that we’ll purge the old golf clubs and outgrown clothes.

Hey all! I started a thread a few months ago that contains links to outside sites with helpful hints for those of us who have children, I'm consolidating them into ONE post on the thread, so they will be simple to read, indexed by category, etc... etc... This is a link to JUST THE LINKS INDEX (click), which is the second post in the thread: Teaching Our Children a Better Way (click). Feel free to participate there! Share your stories and thoughts with us! I was hoping to harvest some more links to add to my index from this brilliant thread, but as far as I can tell none of these are specific to child-rearing. Please do correct me if I've missed one (some, a bunch). I'll try to keep my eyes on this page so I can collect any that appear in the future. I'd like to avoid having to update both threads, but I will absolutely take the time to do so if anyone asks.

I just listened to this talk on hoarding at YouTube. Nothing earth-shaking, but I enjoyed it.

Think I'm going to have to take a good look at this thread . Meanwhile can I add to it the podcasts from The Procrastination Research Group. It appears there is quite an archive of podcasts and articles.. www.procrastination.ca

The 10-31-2012 entry about Mark Forster’s time management system really resonated with me. His AutoFocus system later evolved into one called SuperFocus, and I have read about it in depth this evening. It is a very simple method of managing a long list of to do items (paper based) and it is just what i’ve been looking for. So thank you, ramatama and notanotherdecade for the idea of this thread full of lists that was resurrected some 8 years later! I will begin working with it tomorrow.
