A pop-up appears that asks if i want to "navigate away" or "leave page" when I'm in the middle of submitting posts or submitting edits.(specifically when submitting from the "visual" screen) When does this occur? All the time, in every post. just started a few hours ago. evening of April 6, 2013 Firefox 19.0.2Correction, it's Firefox 20.0 Windows 7 on all posts -- if i'm in VISUAL when I submit the post. (it doesn't happen if i post from BBCode mode or from QuickReply) I get this pop-up (The purple frame of the pop-up is from my windows color scheme) When i click on "leave page", the pop-up disappears and the post goes through.

The same thing happens in I.E.8 with Windows 7 All posts, but only when posting from Visual mode. But the Pop-up looks different in I.E.8 -- in I.E.8. the pop-up looks like this: When I click "ok", the pop-up disappears and the post goes through.

I just tested Chrome version 26.0.1410.43 It is happening with Chrome the same way, when submitting a post from VISUAL or when submitting an edit from VISUAL ... with the same exact pop-up as in I.E. 8.with THIS pop-up:

To clarify, it's the SAME problem in the SAME way in IE8 and Firefox 20.0 and Chrome 26.0.1410.43 I'm in Windows 7. Only difference is a slightly different pop-up message from each browser. - The I.E. and Chrome pop-ups have different wording from each other. but both mention "ajax".
- The Firefox pop-up doesn't mention "ajax".
If I agree to "navigate away" or "leave the page", it submits my post or submits my edit, and the pop-up disappears. If I refuse to "navigate away" or "leave the page", it keeps me in the posting screen. --------------------------------------------- The problem does NOT occur in Opera 12.15 ----------------------------------- CelesteNot sure if my issue is related to this support.proboards.com/thread/456432/ajax-processes-messageor if it's something completely different.

I noticed this a few days ago. But I thought it was 'just me' and was prompted by switching to my notebook, since I had just done so.
But I have also noticed that I'm not losing anything, so I've been pretty much ignoring it. But I'm glad to learn it's not related to some kind of incompatability with my notebook.
Thank you for reporting this, Lion.

I strongly suspect it IS the dropdown smiley plugin that is causing the problem, Lion. I'm not going to disable it for now. Smilies would go missing by the score. Just ignore it for now and elect to leave the page when you are submitting something.

I mainly posted this so that other members would know it wasn't their computers ... and so that they can know it's okay to select "navigate away" or "leave the page" -- that it really isn't making you leave the page at at all, and, in fact, it may be the only way to get your post to be posted or edited.

To clarify, for anyone reading, who is having this difficulty, If can only get smileys (or other features) to work in VISUAL mode, that's okay. Just post in visual mode, and, if you get a popup asking about "navigate away" or "leave page" click "OK" or "Leave Page". This will NOT boot you out of the posting. Really. It will make the posting SUBMIT correctly. Crazy, I know.

Thanks for bringing this up. I've been having the same pop-up. I decided to just ignore it. It does, however, make a loud "Bong!" sound if the volume is turned up. It scared me the first time.

I'm glad you posted this. It's happening to me too- and I thought it was "just me". I edit posts in Visual mode, then when I hit Create Post, I get the same error message. I cancel and get put into BBCode mode. Then when I post, it goes through.
Now that I know I can safely "leave page", I'll save a few clicks!

UPDATE: This is still happening to me EVERY time whenever I post or edit from visual (preview) mode. ALWAYS. It started a day or two before I made the first post in this thread ... and still happens every time.

Yes, it happens to me, too using Firefox. I have learned not to post from Visual (or Preview as it is now re-labeled.)
N.B. For me (this may not be the case for others) if I do try to post from Preview and click on the leave page button, it takes longer to post than if I click on stay on page and then post from the BBC editor. This may be because I have the BBC editor set as my default, so it may not be the case for others who have Preview (formerly known as Visual) set as their default.
