I collect:
1 Books - novels I plan to read and those I’ve already finished - nonfiction which tends to be permanent
2 Magazines - for how-to - but I've now stopped buying them
3 Photographs - Photography is my hobby so I have 45 years of photos, but I don't consider these to be clutter, a hoard, or even a collection - they're our family photographs
4 Scrapbook Paper - my current addiction which I haven't been able to give up
5 Handmade Scrapbook Enhancements - I have a ton of these but I stopped purchasing a few years ago
6 Scrapbook Supplies (in general) - I had slowed way down on these purchases, but now I’m at it again
7 Children's Awards, Artwork, etc.
8 Model Horses - a nice collection for which I now buy only occasionally - the plan is to cull & upgrade - this is my one true collection which I treasure and my family respects
9 Bull Terrier Figurines - another collection for which I've stopped buying
10 Aromatherapy Essential Oils - I plan to add lots more
11 Scented Body Lotions & Bath Products
12 OPI Nail Polish
I hoard:
13 Earrings - considering I don't wear them
14 Lingerie - which may not even go over my fat butt any more
15 Flip Flops - many with tags still on
16 Saddles & Tack - 5 saddles but no horses currently
17 Western Wear - chaps, hats, show ring clothing of my daughters - I did donate all my western shirts
18 Comforters & Throws - I buy more without discarding any
19 Oriental Rugs - we don't use them now because we feel sure the cats will pee on them - yet we love them too much to be willing to give them up
20 Cookbooks - relative to the amount of cooking I actually do
21 VHS Workout Tapes - Richard Simmons, Buns of Steel, Tae Bo
22 Business & Tax Records - beyond the time required by IRS - I'm scared to discard any of it
23 & 24 My husband's hoard consists of jackets & down vests and old financial, professional, & health newsletters.
25 & 26 We're both slow to cull our older clothing. I wonder what that's about.
This list makes it pretty clear what I need to start purging, huh?

Great thread!
What I collect:
1. Oriental figurines - I don't buy new ones. I have too many as it is! 2. Fairy knick-knacks 3. Dragon knick-knacks 4. Other unique knick-knack type items 5. Anything monkey/gorilla related - monkey stuffed animals, figurines, etc. 6. Videos/DVDs 7. Board Games 8. Shoes - I do wear them!
What I hoard: 1. Coins - technically it's a coin collection, but I go a little overboard to the point where it's hoarding. For example, the new quarters that keep coming out - one would suffice for my collection, but I end up collecting at least twenty of each new quarter. 2. Children's books - I just keep buying more! 3. Clothes - I probably only wear half of what's in my closet. 4. Bath gels and lotions - I'm trying to use these up. I don't buy more. 5. Perfume - I'm trying to use these up too. 6. Candles - I really only use them when the lights go out during a storm. That rarely happens.
7. Old school papers. This is really, really sad. I have stacks and stacks of old school papers, some dating back as far as junior high (when I started hoarding.) I keep thinking that some day I'll want to reflect on my old school work. It got to the point where I had so many, that I boxed some up and put them in the shed. I have boxes of papers in the shed!
8. Photos. Yes, family photos are important to have, but I develop way too many pictures. Often it's the same picture just from various angles. It's insane! And I never have time to properly put them in photo albums.
9. Scrapbooking supplies. I have the supplies, but I don't actually scrapbook.
10. Porcelain Dolls - Since I don't like most of them anymore, I guess it's not really considered a collection anymore.
11. Beanie Babies
12. McD toys
13. Seashells. I like the ocean, but I don't live anywhere near one. I started collecting shells years ago, but the collection is way out of hand. I have entire boxes full of seashells that I had to move to the shed.
14. Rocks. Again, I started collecting them as a child. I have a bad habit of taking every pretty rock I see home with me.
15. Make-up. I hardly ever wear make-up, yet I have four bags full of it.
16. Cards and letters
17. Bookmarks on the Internet
18. Jewelry
19. Envelopes
That's all I can think of at the moment.
