There seems to have been several comments made lately about lost posts, so if that's a problem you are having, this might be just what you need.
You may Enable Drafts in v5, which will periodically save your compositions prior to posting. If you accidentally leave the page or whatever, the most recent draft will pop up and you be asked if you want to use it. But first you have to Enable Drafts in your Profile.
To do this, follow this path:
Profile > Edit Profile > Settings > scroll to Enable Drafts > select Yes > Save Account Settings
To illustrate the above pathway:
How to Enable Drafts:
1. Click on Profile at the top of the top menu bar at the top of your page.
2. Choose 'Edit Profile' after your Profile opens.
3. Select tab 'Settings' Tab
4. Scroll down to Enable Drafts (which has a default setting of 'No'), then select the 'Yes' button.

5. Scroll to bottom of the Settings page and click the 'Save Account Settings' button.

Step number 5 is necessary or the change will not save.
Now your drafts will be saved and you are less likely to lose your posts.
If you need any further help with editing your profile, see Profile - Update & Edit your profile the Instructions and How-Tos Board.

I've started having troubles with this feature. Yesterday or day before it didn't save a long post and a time-consuming edit, perhaps because my computer froze and I had to do a restart. It used to work and I checked my settings and it still says yes to enable drafts. Was it because of the restart?

Yes, the computer freeze and restart was the reason the drafts feature didn't work this time.

I have found times that it seemed that despite enabling this feature, it didn't save when I 'lost it' due to using the backspace button to edit. But wait! Trick: Lo & Behold, it really is still saved, just hit the Reply button anyway when it appears lost & it reappears! Voila & phew! I have also used the forward button & my post reappeared then too when I thought it was lost!

this may be for desktop users only: i don't know if this will work on a portable device, but it works on an old desktop for me. if you lose a post when you go to post it (unless your computer crashes), go back one page with whatever you use as a back button. when i do this, my draft is still there and will often post the 2nd time i try. i do not have my drafts enabled; just checked my settings, as was succinctly and clearly directed by eagle (thanks, eagle). so this is opposite of what sidestep posted in the last post, but it works for me here on the boards, and also on my email program. oh yeah... and don't use a backspace button to edit - always use the edit button that's in the post, OR your browser's edit button in the toolbar.

Hi creativechaos. I think the reason the forward & backward button worked for me was precisely because I ~did~ have Drafts Enabled. My guess is that is why you & I have had different outcomes. Good Luck!

Does anyone know if this post was reference recently? I *swear* I remember this conversation, but I know it wasn't yesterday that I read it. Otherwise it has to be deja vu, even though it doesn't have that uncanny feel to it. The other day, I received a text that I clearly remembered reading and replying to the previous day, but there was definitely nothing in my messages. And it wasn't a glitch because the event occurring was actually happening in real time and was only a one-day thing. I think I'm losing it.

The only recent posts are the two before yours.

There was a similar post that I started a few weeks ago. I have always had "drafts saved" feature enabled, but I lost 3 posts. Then someone suggested that, before hitting th "create post" button, to just right click and then hit "copy" which saves it in your computer's memory. If it posts correctly, you are done. If it does not post and the draft is also gone, then you just have to tight click and hit "paste" in a new message and then post as usual. So that's what I've been dong lately.
