Dear LN,
When I was a child, my parents scheduled at least one awful thing (dentist visits were a particular favorite) to happen on my birthday. Their stated purpose was to make me grateful for the good things that came later.
Instead, I have spent years being afraid of birthdays. I am afraid of bad things happening on that day, and afraid to accept good things, like well wishes of friends. I have a deeply rooted idea that I am unworthy of any good things that do happen.
I remember checking out your post on the old board, and could never bring myself to actually list mine.
It is time for me to stop being afraid of my birthday.
I was born on July 16, 1963.

Hi, November 24, 1943!!! I get medicare starting in November! Last year I threw myself a huge party for turning 64 which the vast majority of the generation before me never go to. That was a huge load off my mind as I had dwelled on that birthday for years.. I am now free of that burden and enjoy my life however long it goes.
