Tired and annoyed today. Finding that the messy people that live with me are getting on my last nerve with leaving their dirty socks next to my desk, their trucks, cars and doll houses on my desk, their dirty dishes in the sink, etc. I didn't do any major things, just daily stuff and taking care of the beasts. Started day at 2:15 am, after a refreshing 4 hour sleep (up at midnight to turn on a/c and go potty and then heard hubby come home at 1:50.) Shower & dress Fixed coffee & breakfast Loaded few dirty dishes into dishwasher made while fixing breakfast (sink clean .... ahhhh!) Work 3 - 11 am ..... Friday's are hectic. I am alone on phones until 7 am and of course today was extra busy between 5:30 - 6:30. Time went by fast though. - Got a bunch of extra paperwork projects for a lady on vacation before and after my super busy times Load dirty dishes into dishwasher after getting home hubby piled in over am Fix lunch Sat around and vegged for a couple hours. Sent hubby off to get a 2 hour nap before he had to go to work. He only gets 4.5 hours on work days and kids' school days. Lucky they have 2 more days next week and then at least one of us will be getting a few more hours of sleep. The plan was I was taking an hour after he got up. That didn't work out. I laid down for 20 minutes and heard everything. And then our son woke and woke me. So scratch that. Zombie mode for the next 3-4 hours until kids go to bed. Just did a 30 minute irritated blast through the house. Gathered dirty laundry from all rooms Swap laundry in machines Clean sheets on K's bed Sweep K's floor Quick sweep in kitchen (since broom was in my hand) Empty diaper trash Empty kitchen trash Unload dishwasher and load hubby's mess of dishes into dishwasher (seeing a pattern here.) Dish round up through all rooms -- oh boy amazing what has been scattered through the house in just a few hours Dishwasher running Toys picked up from kitchen floor - no I didn't put them away .... threw them in the family room Greeted 7 yo's friend and Grandma at door and nicely told them no she couldn't play. Going to school Carnival in 20 minutes with older sister. Handful of misc trash, junk toys, etc picked up in path and tossed Fed Kids before bedtime tonight Unload Dishwasher when done loading Fold & put away load colors from dryer Fold & put away extra sheet set for K's bed Fold & put away load darks (if dry early enough) Gather clothes for work for Saturday Get coffee & breakfast stuff put together for Saturday Quick pickup of toys in living room Bathe E & J Youngest daughter got back from school carnival pretty late with her oldest sister. Skipping bath for kids and getting them off to bed pretty soon. Toys will wait until tomorrow.

I read your lists and think wow, you're a tornado of activity! Isn't it funny how we can think that we've done so little when we've actually done a lot?
You're doing fantastic!

I read your lists and think wow, you're a tornado of activity! Isn't it funny how we can think that we've done so little when we've actually done a lot? You're doing fantastic! Thanks Angela! I almost didn't make a list yesterday. I didn't get into WiT's as I had planned. But then I was feeling grumpy and a little unhappy with the lack of motivation. So I did make my list to show where the day went. And of course work does bite up some of that time.

Been kind of slack on doing things last couple days. Father's Day was my 7th work day. I was exhausted after that. Had to shop after work. Didn't do much that day or Monday, my one day off. And now the girls are out of school. So more chaos (all day long.) Going to work on getting back on track a little bit tomorrow. Today's accomplishments: Get self up and ready for work Work 3-9 am Krispy Kreme Donut run after work (really really wanted and knew kids would be happy. a bit of a drive out of my way.) Keep kids alive ... fed and relatively happy Nap 12-2:15 Gather assortment of bowls & cups scattered around house by all Unload Dishwasher, Load & Run Pick up food stuffs (bananas, peels, pretzels, etc) from spec needs kiddo room Gather dirty laundry Wash 2 loads Fold & put away 1 load Make dinner Make Jell-O for tomorrow Play with kids Delegate some toy pick up to 7 yo - gathered a basket of loose toys from kitchen dumped by 2 yo Rearrange some things on desk (move ink and punches out of reach of little fingers and put printer out -- haha ... now he's pulling the paper out!) Dust desk where items moved & tape down cords behind ink turn around (was catching when turning) Pay 1 bill (well half of a bill I don't have yet .... paying ahead on my water/sewer. Kills me when we pay every other month.) Enter few receipts in checkbook & balance Figure out July budget Of course I feel like 2 steps forward and 6 back because while I am doing this, monster boy is pulling things out from the end of my desk. I found wrapping paper stashed back there. Wrapping paper started to unroll and rip up. Clean that up. Then he's tossing things off his dad's desk. I'm not even touching the toys in the living room tonight. I have big plans for a toy clean up ..... we'll see if I can break it down tomorrow into segments not so overwhelming.

Hi MM, I would say that if you worked 7 days in a row, you deserve some time off. Although, of course, moms don't get days off even on their days off!
Is your work shift always 3am to 9am? What hours do you sleep?

Hi MM, I would say that if you worked 7 days in a row, you deserve some time off. Although, of course, moms don't get days off even on their days off! Is your work shift always 3am to 9am? What hours do you sleep? Diane Thanks Diane. Yeah, as mom's we always are "on" and of course there is guilt when I think I should be doing stuff. So if things go as they should, my days off are Sun & Mon. On weekdays I usually work 3-9. Friday's I stay until 11 am though as we are shorter staffed that day. Then on the weekends the shift is 4-11. Although due to one lady being out due to knee surgery, we are running with just 2 of us on Saturday's until she returns so I'm working 4-12. I sometimes have to pick up the shift on Monday due to staffing. We lost one lady a year ago (retired) and they chose not to replace her 20 hours. So we absorbed the work, but it affected the Monday morning. My boss will work it sometimes, but there are weeks she needs to be in office all day. There is one other person that does the Opening but he is also one of our drivers. So he does the Sunday shift. If she can steal from the drivers and bring someone else in on their day off, she'll use him sometimes on Monday's. So yeah last week I had the Monday. Then I agreed to work Father's Day for the guy on Sunday. He's working tomorrow for me, so I have a day off in between my days which is good since I am in this next Sunday again. The sleep .... oh that is hit or miss. On a good night, I get the girls in bed at 9 pm and then providing there wasn't a whacky nap, the boy (2yo) is in bed by 9:30. So I get 4-5 hours of sleep depending on how early I get everyone to sleep and if I take my shower at night or am. If I don't have to shower, I can roll out of bed at 2:30. Also on good days, I can take a nap for a couple hours before hubby leaves. He works 4:30 pm to 1:00 am. Speaking of sleep .... I need to get these girls in bed. Even though I don't work tomorrow, I want to keep them still somewhat on schedule. Will be interesting now that they're on summer break.

What kind of job do you have that requires such brutal hours? I work for the newspaper in Customer Service. I am the lucky duck who is the first in as the Dispatcher. We have drivers that take care of issues later in the morning once customers call in and take papers to them, after all the carriers are done delivering. (Such as missing papers, wet papers, wrong paper, etc.) Once those calls come in, I dispatch addresses to them. I have to be there at 3 since they come in early to take care of some other early morning deliveries. They drop off bulk amounts of papers to a variety of hotels. Then the managers may call in and need help, look up an account they have questions on, help with finding an address, etc. And the carriers may call in with similar problems .... can't find a new delivery, dog outside so they want to put a note on the account that the paper is in the driveway, papers piled up and looks like a customer is gone, etc. I am alone until 6:30 when the next in the office comes in, and most of the time it's pretty cool. Friday's are usually pretty busy though. If we have any kind of delays with the presses, then all the carriers or managers are calling to let me know they're late. Then the early bird customers are calling in looking for their papers. Luckily I am a good multi-tasker.

Thursday I got quite a bit done WIT's but didn't update here. Then the last few days have been a bust. Worked 3-11a Friday. Home for 30 minutes then off to take my 7yo for a hair appointment. Went to store for a few things. Took a small cake and flowers to my mom's house as a surprise for her birthday. She was out of town all day and not home until late. I knew my step dad wouldn't think about a cake. Then Saturday worked 4a-12p. Met mom after work and took her to lunch to celebrate her birthday. Then home and just completely wiped. Both days hubby left within 30 minutes of me getting home to work early. Worked today 4-10a. I left early as it was slow enough. Took a nap and lounged around. Finally got up and got a few things done tonight ..... Unload Dishwasher, Load & Run (hubby did earlier as we didn't do them yesterday) Emptied kitchen trash & recycle Emptied both bathroom trash All trash & recycle bins out to road (trash day Monday) Gathered up dirty laundry from bathroom and started load Put away misc groceries still out (hubby went to store late last night after work) And always my biggest accomplishment for the day .... keep all things breathing in my house alive. Looking forward to at least a couple of semi-productive days Monday and Tuesday. 2 days off from work. Hubby is taking 7yo to water park about an hour from here tomorrow. It's just not something that will work for the other 2 kids. So we'll be here. Tuesday I do have plans to leave hubby with all 3 kids and go work on making some of my cards for swap in July, but will go to my mom's (quiet .... nobody there but the black lab during the day).
