Seems I was a little more ambitious in my list making yesterday then my actual DOING. I did get my August cards made and started on my September. So that's an accomplishment and once I finish the September (today I am hoping) and mail tomorrow (hoping) then I will have relieved some guilt. I got so behind on this monthly swap due to my July trip and all the cards I did for that. And just finding it hard to take paper, ink, etc out with my lil' man always wanting to be right with me. So today our big plan is to take the kids to the ZOO! I have to work for 4 more hours (blah!) And then get ready when we get home. Not sure how much housework is getting done today. We'll see when we get back how energetic I am. Wednesday AM To Do List Work 3-9 am (not done with shift but I got my butt here so a check mark is in order!) Drop donations at Good Will on way home Unload Dishwasher Wipe counters and sink up Pack lunch for 5 Pack backpack for kids - diapers, wipes, extra clothing (for spills), sunscreen, etc Pack up stroller - remove stuff for sisters from van (deliver tonight?) ZOO trip!!! Wednesday PM To Do List Finish September cards for swap Grocery store - few groceries plus some envelopes 1 load laundry -- start to finish -- wash, dry, fold/hang & put away Fold/Hang & put away basket clean clothes #1 daughter (sitting 2 days now) Dishes (thank you hubby!!) Cook dinner General toy pick up Work and then the zoo wiped me out!! The 7 yo was of course the easiest kid, other than going into tears when we finally got to Africa and find out the last zebra died in April at the age of 37. So no zebras. The other 2 kids kept us busy. 2 yo was pretty subdued for the first 30-40 minutes. He had fallen asleep in the car so he was pretty mellow riding around in his stroller. Then he realized he had ENOUGH and wanted to be out and running from us. Otherwise daddy was carrying him. I am pretty sure we both looked like broken old people last night. I was in bed by 6 pm. So really nothing done in the house.

Today I was a little busier at home than I thought I would be. Probably doesn't look like much but for a work day and my first day back and only sleeping 3.5 hours last night, it really is. Plus I have all 3 kids underfoot from 3:30 pm on all by myself once hubby went to work. That's when I did most of my work. Only thing I didn't work on was my stamping project which is not a chore, just a project. And the shower which will be done in the am. Sometimes I like to get done in evening so it's one less thing to rush around doing at 3:30 am.

Today has been a total bust so far! I was so tired from my barely 3 hours sleep last night. 8 hours at work. Most of the time drug on. There are only 2 of us in the office on Saturday's and last Saturday we were swamped. But this weekend was so light. It was good because I had time to get some extra work done, but it took me longer than it should have. Being tired, I was spaced out half of the time. I probably didn't really "wake up" until the last hour of work. Came home and had lunch with hubby and kids and watched a recorded show with hubby. Then I laid down for about an hour before he had to go to work. I am just been dragging around here for the last 2 hours doing really nothing. Youngest daughter is at a friends playing so it's me and the other 2 kids. Trying to find some sort of energy to do something. I have a load of towels in the wash and my dishes are all loaded, but not ready to run. My basics are covered, but I need to pick a project and set the timer for 10 minutes I think. *yawn* Oh thank goodness I get to sleep in tomorrow. Here's hoping I stay in bed until 6 am!

Today has been a total bust so far!
Wow, that's exactly what I feel about my day! Although, I DID do some walks and jobs and laundry and pet care, and I'm guessing you also went to your job and did some basics and cared for kids....so maybe we both needed a slower day today.
Enjoy your "late" sleep-in tomorrow!

Although, I DID do some walks and jobs and laundry and pet care, and I'm guessing you also went to your job and did some basics and cared for kids....so maybe we both needed a slower day today. Enjoy your "late" sleep-in tomorrow! Diane Yes Diane. I did go to work from 4 am to 12:20 pm. Made sure all the kids were fed and cared for. 3 dirty diapers in my day. The last one I heard and he says "YUCK!" so I knew. He's so close to potty training .... just have to convince him to SIT on the potty instead of storing his toys in it. !! I did end up washing a load of towels and got those folded & put away right at bedtime. The dishes were loaded into the dishwasher through the day and ran at night. But I really couldn't find the energy for much else. The lack of sleep plays into it. Last night I slept 10 hours! That's equal to 2-3 days of sleep here lately! I did get up at 5 am to go to the bathroom and went back to sleep and didn't get out of bed until 7:30! yowza! Today is my only morning off from work. I have a 6 day stretch and then next week I have 5 days off! Woohoo!! I took that week also because I feel like it's always stressful the first week of school and good for me to be home the first couple of school mornings. Hubby is the one that has to do it usually 4 out of 5 days a week alone and it's always a shock to everyone after summer break. Today I am still moving slow! It's almost 11 am and all I have done is feed people and got some laundry started. Been playing on the computer a lot. Time to get moving!

Been looking online at Ikea for a bunk bed for my daughter's room because we're going to have to move little brother in there pretty soon. And also looking at making a lot of work for ourselves and rearranging different furniture into different rooms. Hubby is measuring and plugging into an online virtual room planner.

Scheduled for dayWork 3 - 9 am 2 yo speech therapist visit 10:30 - 11:30 am I honestly can't think ahead to what I want done and what I will reasonably get done. Really tired from lack of sleep. I know when I get home, we'll do the dash to tidy up the toys and vacuum. Tomorrow will be a repeat since these therapists couldn't come on the regular day my son's teacher comes which is Tuesday. After that, I bet lunch and a nap will take place. I can make some goals, but I think I'll just go with TA DA's later today so I don't feel like I've failed.

Yesterday and today have sort of blurred together. I only got 3.5 to 4 hours sleep each night. All I wanted to do was nap yesterday but the day didn't work that way. About 3:30 in the afternoon hubby decided that it would be a great idea to start rearranging furniture. We have on and off been discussing possibly moving our LARGE desks from one room to another. Were they ready to be moved? No of course not. This means all the junk that is on each desk needed to be boxed up so the desks could be taken apart, moved from our living room to our family room and reassembled. I still had hopes of going to bed by 7 or 8 last night. My desk was put back together and I had supervised where he was putting things so I knew they would be right. The desks are each 6 feet long and 4 feet deep. And they each have some sort of hutch/shelving on top. So once they're put in place, they are staying. They have been housed in our front living area, actually where the dining room was intended for 4 years now ..... since we bought the house. My intention is to claim the space as a dining room. Our dining table is currently in the kitchen in a kitchen/eating area, but it is a bit too small for our 8 person table. I would like to put a smaller table for breakfast etc in there. The front room really needs to have the carpet pulled out and laminate floors put down before we convert it to dining though. Or at least get past the toddler phase. So we decided that area would be nice as a play area for the kids. Since all the kids don't have their own room, we have toys in living room and family room. Currently (until drug in) there are now no toys in the back room, the family room. We need to figure out a little more shelving in the new play area. But I think it will be a nice change, other than the awkward layout with our sofa sectional in the family room where we moved the desks. We really want to get rid of it since it's old and beaten up. And had the idea of keeping only one piece. The room is one that has 3 openings so the wall space is odd. But until we have space to move the one piece to the garage (full of crap!) and can get rid of it and then eventually find a smaller replacement, it is snug. Let's just say I can roll back from my desk a foot and a half and then I have the chaise lounge portion of the sofa. And it's blocking part of the entry into our dining space. But there is also entry from the kitchen. It will slow our kids down in their chase as they run round and round through kitchen, dining, family and back. Of course with the layout they can still run freely from living room thru kitchen and family room and back to the living room.
Soooooooooo ..... all my rambling means I am still tired. I tried to nap today and did get a little bit of rest, but little boy was in and out fussing because I could lay down. And the desks are now on the wall that is shared with our bedroom. So I could hear hubby putting away tons of stuff at his desk. It looks like he was a partial large Rubbermaid tub under his desk left to unpack. I got my basic stuff set up since it's my card making supplies. But I have 2 large Rubbermaid tubs sitting on our dining room table to unpack/sort, a couple shoe boxes with junk and 2 bins that have been under my desk forever that I don't really want under my desk. That means I have a desk project to work on today, tomorrow, the next day and so on!
Guess I had better get to working in 10 minutes once I really wake up (after 4 pm here) or I am going to be in a funk about this disaster, especially since I have the table buried with my stuff. AND I don't want my 2 yo unpacking for me.

Today was a very minimal day of chores. Dishes loaded in dishwasher thru day - running now Load towels folded & put away DD #1's sheets washed, dried, folded & put on bed DD #1's comforter washed & drying Darks washing - should be ready to go into dryer now before bed Toys picked up thru day from the little tornado Files in file cabinet rearranged -- just had to turn most around and put at other end since cabinet is now on opposite side of desk than it was before Kitchen trash emptied The early part of the day consisted of a 6 hour shift at work. Ran to the grocery store for a couple things, the main reason was to get snacks for dd #1's classroom. I haven't got the actual school supplies, but they ask for shared snacks to be brought. I bought 2 big boxes of Goldfish crackers and then these huge 3 pound bags of pretzels that were only $1.50 each! So we should be covered for snacks for quite awhile. Tomorrow I think I have to go shopping after work to get both girls school supplies. I really don't want to wait any longer since school starts on Wednesday next week. Ran home after store and expected to see hubby and 2 children that were home dressed. Nope! Nobody ready even though I told him I wanted to go to dd #1's school at 10. "Oh I misunderstood." So we left by 10:15 and went to the high school to meet the new teacher and let our daughter see her new school and classroom. What an adjustment it will be for her. Not only was she in middle school for 3 years, but of course the same classroom, same teacher and many of the same students. I'm glad to hear that 2 students from her class that are moving up to 9th grade also will be with her. The teacher was great!! She really seems with it. She was easy to talk to and I felt comfortable right away. I never found that comfort with the teacher we had 7-9 grade. She is a mom of 3, probably not too much younger than me. She has quite a bit of interesting life experiences, growing up in Germany as a military brat, teaching abroad and then being a stay at home mom. And then going back to school to get her special ed degree and now teaching a few years. The high school my daughter is going to is relatively new, only a few years old. And the special ed program is BRAND NEW. They will only have 6 students in the class to start. They have the capability to have 10 in the class. Nice it will start small. My daughter acted as I expected, was very unsure about her surroundings. But we took her backpack with her so she could identify this was school. She had met the teacher twice last Spring so hopefully it will all jive. What I find horrifying (especially looking at the size of the cafeteria is that all 3,000 students have lunch at the same time! I remember when I was in a school of 1,200 (25 years ago) we had lunch in 3 shifts and the cafeteria (same size) was still packed and students ate in locker bays, outside, etc. The special ed class is right across from the kitchen so just a walk down the hall to the cafeteria area. Maybe they'll opt to eat lunch in their classroom some. Well it's definitely bedtime for me. Almost 10:30 and the kids are still up! And I have to get up in 4 hours. ack!

Angie, it would really be good if you figured out a way to get more sleep (yeah, I'm sure I'm not telling you something you don't already know!). Lack of sleep not only affects your immune system, but it also stresses you mentally since you need a certain amount of dream time and you can't get it if you don't sleep a certain number of hours. I'm not sure how you manage to maintain your schedule, I could NEVER do it!
The school situation sounds great for your daughter, a good teacher makes the difference. I hope her adjustment goes smoothly.

Thursday was another one of "Those days."
Work 3 - 9 am School Supply (and some food) shopping after work - home by 11 am Put away food Sort school supplies by 2 kids lists - bag up for delivery Lunch for all - 2 extras in my house yesterday (well 3, but the 3rd came to play after lunch) Nap 12:45 - 1:35 Take care of kids Dishes Dinner for kids Shower Get my 3 kids all ready - head to school for 2nd graders Open House Wendy's Drive-thru --- got them fries and frosty (just 7 yo wanted) for a treat after being so awesome at the school Bed at 9 pm - hubby came home early. Was really dead at work. So he put kids to bed.
I was so exhausted. I swear the shopping trip wiped me out. Trying to find all these things and make sure you have the exact right thing (which is not always possible) is so much fun!! And then times 2. I had each list printed, instead of making a combined list like I have done in the past. I think at this point the only thing I have to buy is new shoes for the girls. 7 yo's shoes are fairly new, but the 14 yo's shoes are looking a little worn. She wears them pretty hard and when we get them, she wears the same pair. If I buy 2, she will stick to just the one pair. I was hoping I wouldn't have to take all 3 kids to school for the Open House but had no luck reaching my adult daughter. Usually the worry is my special needs 14 yo as she is as stubborn as a mule. We have got to places in the past where she refuses to get out. Well she was okay. Usually she insists on holding MY hand and it has to be my left/her right. I had 2 yo to juggle plus a large sack of supplies. So she was happy to hold 7 yo's hand as we trucked across the parking lot and thru the entire school to get to 7 yo's class. Seems she is at the very back of the school if you come in the front doors. ugh! 2 yo was very active!! If I wasn't holding him (and sweating like a hog!! It was sooooo hot & muggy in the school I was DRIPPING in sweat from carrying him/chasing after him), then I was chasing him. I was happy to find out that 7 yo has her best friend in her class! This will be good for her. Short version is she has Selective Mutism. Will not talk to any teachers or children at school at all! She doesn't speak to anyone in the family outside of the people in our house (not even her 23 yo sister, her grandparents, etc.) Only people outside of hubby, me and 2 siblings in house that she will talk to/in front of is her 6 yo cousin (because he is more like a brother and they grew up being together a lot as I watched him for a couple years) and this one friend. She met her a year ago Sept but only started talking to her in January. This was after playing together 2-3 times a week. So will be interesting to see how that works and maybe she'll come out of her shell more this year.
Sooooo .... the house is a wreck! I don't know if today is going to be much better. Since my nephew was over for several hours yesterday and then mom dropped off his 14 yo sister after High School orientation, I had them hanging out. 14 yo isn't messy with toys, but is good playing with the other kids. Of course just having 3 small kids playing somehow makes extra mess ... extra dishes for lunch. And then 7 yo's friend came over for about 2 hours. Today will be similar. 6 yo nephew is coming at 7:30 am and we will have him until probably 2 pm. Girls have 1:15 hair cut appts. I think all 6 of us will leave together and then either meet my sister to pass off nephew or else his dad will pick him up from our house.

Diane Yeah the great mystery of how to get more/enough sleep. I have been in a sleep deficit for 10 years now! ugh!! When sleep evens out with my 2 yo and he is better about bedtime (going to be once he cuts out the nap), then I can probably get 5 - 5.5 hours a sleep. But most nights I am getting about 4 .... maybe 4.5 if I'm lucky. If I am really lucky and it's a night hubby is home and we don't have everything going crazy, I can go to bed early and get 6-7 hours. Unfortunately with our hours being so opposite, bedtimes are iffy. Hubby has been getting plenty of sleep during summer. Now that school starts next Wed, he will be cutting out hours too. He gets home by 1:30 and asleep by 2:00. With school starting, he will have to start getting up at 6 to wake 14 yo. It's possible as the kids get back into the school routine and if 2 yo adjusts to an earlier schedule, I may have a better bedtime routine with them. But then it doesn't solve his problem. *sigh* I am very happy about 14 yo's teacher. I took all her school supplies today. Oh my goodness I had a huge bag that was heavy and a ton of paper I put in a backpack to deliver. I am so glad they have "15 minute" and "visitor" parking right by the front doors so I didn't have to walk far. We did the Open House at 7 yo's school last night and met her teacher. She seems pretty nice. I don't have any negative feelings so I'm hoping for a good year. I got to talk to her briefly about 7 yo's Selective Mutism. She had a brief bit of info from the 1st grade teacher, as they were supposed to talk more. So hopefully I have filled in some gaps and then will have opened the communications with her from the start.
