This is the W.I.T. (Working in Threes or 3's or whatever) thread. EVERYONE IS WELCOME, even if you've never posted before!
The guidelines are simple:
- Do some little thing to make your house less squalorous. - Do one more little thing. - Do another little thing. Once you have 3 things done, post them here.
- Post the next 3 things you plan on doing. - Go forth and conquer, return and post again.
Remember - if you are tired or sick or injured or depressed or overwhelmed, you are in the right place!
If the next 15 minutes consists of:
- Looked at hopeless living room and felt like crying - Decided you could take empty pop can to kitchen - Put away phone book - Picked up fast food wrappers on coffee table and put them in trash
.... YOU HAVE ACHIEVED THREE - DOM !!!
You could post:
Ta - Da's - Took pop can to kitchen - Put away phone book - Threw away McDonald's wrappers
Then your To - Do's: - Bring plates and glasses to kitchen - Put dirty socks in hamper - Bring folded towels to linen closet and put away.
Whether you do those three to-do's, or something completely different, once you've gotten 3, come back and post. Remember to take breaks and drink water. Drinking water counts as a Ta-da!
If you can notice what the person before you did, it might cheer them up to hear from you.
Go forth, have fun, and be generous to yourself with the Ta-das. YOU DESERVE THEM!

Good day, Rosebud.
I'm always happy when you start the thread.
TADA: Took care of dogs, took pill, refilled the pill box, done an errand, coped with laundry.
Big TODOs for today: 1) mammogram (with hopes that the breast cancer has not returned) 2) go to daughter's for the afternoon 3) go to church meeting and take minutes in the evening.
Not sure that I can take care of the routine, much less make squalor progress.

Good morning everyone! The term laundry saga is very appropriate for my house too.
Madtiger - good luck with your mammogram today, you'll be in my thoughts. I hope everything goes well and that you are cancer free!
I have an appointment this afternoon to check up on the gestating babe, so that will take up most of my day. Hopefully I can get a little done before we go.
Ta das: - boiling some eggs for breakfast - started a load of laundry - having my morning caffeine
To do: - switch over laundry when washer is done - start some bread - empty dishwasher

Good morning Rosebud, MadTiger, and Wantinmore. Glad to see you this morning. Rosebud, I was so sorry you couldn't join in on chat the other day. I will cross my fingers on your mammogram results. (((MadTiger))). Oh, by the way, your avatar is not showing up correctly. I just see a red X. Wantinmore, you are really rolling too. Laundry and exercise!! Woohoo!! Tadas: *fed outside cat *brought in papers *took out garbage *had breakfast *cleaned old stuff of refrigerator *put in a load of laundry Todos: *put laundry in dryer *shower *get dressed See you later! *yawn* Good morning. Everyone is so busy today! Great work!
It's my day off to "relax" and get caught up on some things around the house.
TaDa: 1. Weekly weigh in, down by about 1/2 a pound. Not a lot, but it means that I am FINALLY past the two or three week plateau where I didn't lose any weight at all 2. Made the bed 3. Played with pets, fresh clean food and water and pooping places for everybody
ToDo: 1. Breakfast 2. Shower 3. Sort the laundry and start one load

Morning, everyone! I ended up not being at my computer much yesterday, so never got into the thread. I did a little housework yesterday, but not as much as I should have. I did do a few more mending projects, so I guess that counts for something. I gave myself a stupid injury, though. I've gained a lot of wieght since baby#3, and forgot about how thighs can rub together and chafe very quickly when ya wear a skirt. Ouch. I have something called "Body Glide", a roll-on stick for runners (and overwieght people) that could have prevented this, but I forgot to use it. By the time I realized I should have, it was too late. Ouch. Ouch. Ouch. I need to get on my exercise bike ---now that I can walk to it and there isn't anything stored on top of it---and use the thing. For today, I'm limping around, though. Ouch. The cable guy comes today, and DS's room is still not done. I will need to focus on that, but can't really get in there to make noise till noonish. My hubby got home from work at 7:30 this morning, but has to go back to work for a mandatory staff meeting at noon. Since work isn't letting him get any rest, I'm not going to bang around and vacuum while he has a chance to get a few moment's sleep. He does not have to go in tonight, at least. Madtiger, I'll be sending postive thoughts your way! Here's TADA's: 1)Made and drank coffee! Strong coffee! 2)Dishwasher loaded and running. 3)Load in washer. To Do's: 1)Wipe down counters 2)mad dash to pick up toddler toys all over living/dining room floors. 3)Give kitchen floor a perfunctory sweeping. I'm going to invoke the "galloping horse rule", usually used for sewing, for what housework I get done today. The galloping hourse rule dictates that one should just get it done, and not worry about how perfect a job it is, or isn't. "It will never be seen from a galloping horse", Grandma always said... Time to get something, anything, done. See y'all in a bit.

Good morning everyone! Good luck with the mammogram, madtiger. And hypatia- congratulations on the baby-to-be! When is the arrival expected?
I agree with the "laundry saga" description... it's just never-ending, and always just *so* dramatic. My 13yo dd "thought" that I had agreed to wash her abercrombie sweatshirt last night for this morning, but needless to say, I thought she just wanted to make sure that I actually put it in the laundry (as opposed to leaving it in the hamper in the mudroom for a month, which does happen frequently). She is starting to do her own laundry, but only in emergencies.
Well- on to the lists: tadas: 1. Cleaned both cat litters. 2. Ordered clip for socks so the socks will have a partner when they "vanish". 3. started laundry saga for the day
todos: 1. Fold and put laundry away. 2. call plumber for installing new kitchen faucet and hose hookup on deck 3. Get some Groceries

Hi Laughinglark, Janie, and Wantinmore! It seems like we're all in the midst of various laundry sagas, aren't we? I'm so very tired of looking at clothes. TaDa: 1. Breakfast 2. Shower 3. Started my own laundry saga (bonus items) 1. Washed the colander that has been sitting in the sink since last night. 2. Found something blue in a mixing bowl, a cheese recipe I abandoned, in the fridge, took it out. It's soaking in the sink. 3. Hung up a pile of neglected laundry 4. Started the dishwasher ToDo, Running Errands Edition: 1. To mall for potentially traumatic undergarment purchase: "I'm a size WHAT?! And you want HOW MUCH for that thing?!" 2. Visit elderly relative in assisted living and pay the bill 3. Get pedicure (I'll need to relax after items 1 and 2)

Hi Glow,
Nicely done today! Regarding undergarment shopping--do treat yourself to something fun that feels good too. I don't know your size, but I'm far larger than I was once upon a time. Recently when I bought undies I made a point of buying a style I really loved in fun colors and extremely soft cotton! My first new pair of *proper fitting* undergarments in 2 years! Now if I could just get a bra I like. (This will sound crazy, I might have to get a nursing bra, as the nursing bras were literally the only bras I ever truly found comfortable.)
I am trying to remind myself that in many traditional cultures the more Rubinesque physique is seen as a sign of beauty. I also try to take note of larger women who have taken time to accent their beauty--yesterday in a cafe with friends I noted a woman who had absolutely gorgeous hair color and makeup, and went out of my way to compliment her.
TO DOs -Take dog to groomers -5 minutes in the kitchen -5 minutes in the living room
TA DAs
TO DO LIST

Hi again, everyone! Glowworm, you reminded me of one of the things I've been meaning to get around to. Easily 90% of the bras I own don't fit and/or annoy me in some way, so I've been planning to throw away most of them, go to the mall and get properly fitted for a bra, and buy three bras that truely fit me. If I'm staying on top of the laundry, three bras should be plenty, and if I take note of the brand name and size, I even might be able to replace them or add to them online, as needed. I just had to use brute force strenghth to close my undergarment drawer, and it's not because I have a great selection of stuff in there. It's because I hang onto underwear that I don't love, and doesn't love me. Ta-das: *DS's room is mostly decluttered. The floor is not great, but I'll have time to finish picking it up and run the vacuum through there. Living room is still cluttery, but not to the point I'd be embarrassed to have a contractor walk past it. My MIL, my mom, the churhc ladies or my kid's teachers, no---but it is pass-able for the moment. Cable guy has seen worse, I think. I might have time to get it lookin' a bit nicer, with the kid's help. *Biggest counter in kitche is spotless. *While cleaning counter, noticed old food splat on wall bechind counter, wiped it away. *Perfunctory kitchen sweep done. *Speedy imperfect swiffer-mopped kitchen floor. I'm nearsighted, and when I take my glasses off, it looks bright and awesome in there! With glasses on, there is still dirt there, but it looks much better. Noticeably better. *folded more clothes *put away more clothes *more clothes in washer and dryer--- Did someone say laundry saga? *trash to curb. *tea break To do's 1) Spend more time working on DS's floor. 2)fold more clothes 3)put away more clothes....sigh. You are a good influence on me---thank you all! Off I go again... Artsygal, thinking of you and hoping all goes well...

Hello to all. As usual, I am off to a late start, but this time it's bacause I've been sick for 2 days with a stomach virus. Had to work sick last night too. :/ There was nobody to cover me. Artsygal, I'm sending prayers for your mom's surgery, and Madtiger, I'm sending prayers for good results on your mammogram. I took it easy all morning, but finally got off my posterior and used my faux swiffer to dustmop the bathroom and dining room. The floors had been neglected for so long that I had to toss the pad cover after each room. <:0 ( Hmmn....I did 2 floors. Does that count as two tadas?) Anyway....I still have to do a load of laundry, and make supper. 3g is me
