I moved (almost) all the remaining dishes to the right hand side of the sink, removed the half dozen miscellaneous items off the little kitchen table (some of which were dirty silverware I just didn't see because of the clutter), threw away some trash, and wiped down the exposed cabinet surfaces. Amazing that the kitchen looks better, just having most every dirty thing stacked in one area! The entire counter right of the sink is covered w dirty dishes and such, but the kitchen still looks better!
I will unload the dishwasher this morning, and start on the rest of the dirty stuff today. Much of it will be hand wash stuff.
But first I have to tack some visqueen up on the gaps in the sun room plastic, before the big storm tomorrow, and I need to put hay, branches and such around the side of the barn to control erosion. I also need to measure the north pasture while it's not raining - in anticipation of electric fencing!

I'm so proud I could bust my buttons! We've had an outbreak of cockroaches in the building. I've seen them down in the basement but not in my apartment. Last week, the pest control guy came through and set sticky traps under my kitchen sink. He came by again today to check... nope, not a single thing in them. My under-sink area is as clean as my shiny sink. May it always stay that way! A year ago, (pre-SooS) that under-sink area was a horrible jumbled mess. No bugs that I knew of, but I would have been so mortified to have the guy open the cabinet doors. But not anymore, thanks to the ripple effect of this dish-washing thread. This makes me smile from ear to ear. And gives me great hope for my future.

I have three pots that need cleaning and the cutlery plus this mornings breakfast dishes. I'll get in done in between a few other chores by lunchtime. happy dishwashing everyone!

Hi Louie, well done for an early start on your dishes Hi dayeanu, good to hear that you have made a start and the kitchen is looking better, especially when you have so many outside chores to deal with. I have to take it easy this weekend after having a small procedure on my ankle, with some stitches. I don't want to delay the healing. At the same time I know that I have dishes sitting there 'calling' to me........ Rationally I know this would be a good opportunity to start on sorting some papers, but there is another part that doesn't want to have to make decisions.

I've been living off quesadillas the past few days so I haven't had much to wash up. Just a few saucers and knives and the pet bowls to rinse and load.

Hello everyone Unloaded dishwasher just now. I plan to tackle hand washing next and also clean the kitchen counters. I really wish I could extend my (new) dishwashing habit to other areas of my life.

dear lostchild, thanks for this good suggestion - I will let you know how I get on. At the moment I need to overcome the 'demand resistance' I am dealing with, that is causing me to 'choke'. Finished hand washing dishes, wiping counters, putting stray things away = kitchen is ready for food preparation.

Amazing work Dit imamess jendela lostchild cleanbee Louie gracious dayeanu Yep - btdt leaving a scattered mess, when the practical task of gathering and heaping it makes it look so much more doable. the doing the everyday thing, and also to those bending muscle and will to play catch up. I did not do another load before I left on friday so it was patient enough to wait for me. While away I just managed to carry my things to the wash up counter, scrape and sort appropriately, and sometimes carry things for those somehow disabled who left their dishes where they had eaten. Home today. I didn't bother to empty dishdrainer, just washed another lot and played heap them up. And used and rewashed the needed items for tonight's smoothy. Thank you for the good wishes Jen, Louie and Daye. It really was a great weekend away in a "sister/ women's fellowship retreat." Lots of meaningful words spoken. I even slept the 2nd night really well - for me, and today played hooky from last session to take a turn in the pool (another hot weekend here) and had my first go on a water slide, then did it twice more. Still had the breaks on for the start, but truly a first for me. I'd heard people talking of the 84yo who did it, and others who had really loved it after being reluctant to even try. ( they had switched the last 2 sessions so I missed the 2nd last session , last, and the important last session before some left -I'd been to that.)

Hiya Dit, imamess wynken cleanbee, having you all here helps me stay on track. Dishes are in process of being washed - DH did 'airfried' chips so I am soaking the fryer before I finish washing. Wynken, thank you for sharing the highlights of your weekend - that water slide sounds great - I have never had the opportunity myself, but if it arises then I will follow your example. And it was great that you were able to attend the final session as well as try the water slide. OK, better get back to finish off the dishes.
