I went over to the old Squalor Survivors site and had a quick -half an hour- look at the first 14 pages from way-back-when and made a note of which topics seemed to have the most readership and / or comments. Should i pose each question/topic as a new thread or make a list and modify it as i go through it all peu a peu? For example: some of the best threads i found -so far- were entitled: "can you picture your place squalor free?" another one similarly asks: "what do you do to fill the void once you are squalor free?" "what is your definition of maintenance level?"

I'm sorry, I don't understand the question. What are you trying to do with this information?

- PaperPiler, SOS had a thread about copyright issues. takeonestepatatime.proboards.com/thread/2397I had replied to that original post saying: {quote from Lion's post} If you started a thread on Squalor Survivors that asked for opinions on a general topic: Such as: "How did your mother influence your squalorous life?" -- Well ... that thread would be full of people's personal responses and you couldn't copy it over here. Even if you STARTED the thread, it wasn't really your own thread, because it became a "group thread." With something like that, all you could do would be to start a new thread here, starting with a blank slate, asking the question again {end quote} Ramatama seems to be suggesting re-starting some topics here with a blank slate? Not copying anyone's thoughts over from Squalor Survivors? With the goal of starting a fresh discussion? And Ramatama seems to be polling: What old discussion topics would everyone like to see fresh discussions of on this new site?-

I would love to see this topic
""what do you do to fill the void once you are squalor free?""
I'm far from squalor free, but I find I go a few days making small progress and suddenly I'm gripped by terror, lethargy, I don't know what it is--I find it hard to keep going. So far all I can stand is having the bathroom clean, and even then it is a huge adjustment to have to as the room with the most breathing space in it. I find myself feeling a bit overwhelmed from the lack of clutter closing in.

Ahhhhhhhhh. I read about copyright issues previously, read Rama's post...but didn't quite put the two together. :-( Thanks for clarifying.

I LOVE the idea of restarting some of the threads!! The free time one hit me square in the eyes when i read it a few weeks back. it was old, and i bumped it. which caused a little confusion. still feel bad about that... but anyway... it has been a real eye opener for me. i would love to see that one revived. another thought is to maybe put a little blip on the post if those replying to the question want to go and copy THEIR OWN old post from the original thread and paste it over here, and maybe even add an update to it as well, that would be kinda neat too.

what i meant is that there were topics that keep/kept reoccurring and have a LOT to do with Squalor, getting out of it and staying out of it and the insight of some of those threads from before oughtn't be lost. They could be summarized or hinted at ? or as Missy so cleverly proposed the original posters could copy over their own words...that is, if they so wish. But most of all, i wanted to know if it would make any sense to restate the questions/topics as separate threads each or make a list and each member picks one that appeals to him or her. I wouldn't mind starting the threads, but then it might look silly - or awkward that so many are started by me....

I think there are some topics that would be best to be available long term. I'm possibly suggesting another board (or whatever you call it such as ByWays). For example, I'd love to see a thread on tips for cleaning bathroom, kitchen, bedroom, garage, etc. and tips for doing the mail, doing the laundry, etc. Perhaps a Tips section/board. Then any threads that are deemed good to have easily available for the long term could be there.

I love the idea of restarting topics...and it ramatama is wants to take it on, I think it would be great. For me personally, one topic at a time, every so often, would be better than all at once. If these are important themes, they could be diluted by posting them all at once...plus, speaking for myself, I can typically only handle so much introspection at once and when we hit on these topics, the tend to trigger lots of thinking/mulling/self-examination - sometimes bringing up long buried emotions that need to be dealt with before I can move on...typical of healing and growth.
Just my two cents though. I am just very thankful to Rama for thinking of this.

I'll change archive name to tips/topic of the week, since we can't really archive as I had originally thought. and if weekly is too often for the question, we can change it to monthly or every other week, or however. ramatama, if you want to post the questions, that would be awesome!!

Great idea, I think some topics can never be overdone as peeps are always coming up with new ideas and lightbulb moments. I like the idea of one topic at a time,, personally I feel it would give me time to digest an issue more thoroughly and thus learn as I go along. Moineau
