I've found this text :
" style="max-width:100%;"
appearing quite frequently in the middle of some of my posts, often associated with smilies, but not always. I delete it but when I edit a post it often reappears. Can anyone tell me why?
I'm using Windows 8 (yuck) and Firefox version 29.0.1.

Are you looking at a posted message when you see this, or when you are composing the message, boop?

I've seen it under both circumstances, Celeste. Since I posted my message about this I've switched to using Preview mode by default instead of BBCode for creating posts which I think is helping. I'm not positive, but I think I might somehow be leaving a bit of code behind when I delete a smiley and replace it with another i.e. I think my post editing is creating a problem sometimes.

I think you've hit the nail on the head, boop. What you are seeing is part of the code that ProBoards automatically inserts to determine size of an element, usually a graphic like a smiley. It should show up in posts you are editing in BBCode view only. It will show up in a post if the code is broken (partially repeated, partially deleted and/or missing a square bracket). When you replace a smiley in BBCode view, erase the entire old smiley code (within the square brackets) before you insert the new smiley. If you don't, ProBoards will automatically insert another size code and it will have two, breaking the code. Using the Preview view to edit will allow you to simply remove the old smiley and replace it, cutting down on the chances of leaving old code behind.

I'm hoping the problem won't recur now I'm using Preview mode - whatever happens, I'll try to be more careful in future.

I've noticed in the past week that ... smiley codes now appear in bbcode mode as the url of the image and not the colon colon imagename colon colon that it used to display.
I don't know if it's related to boop's bug report or not.
Clarification: I've noticed it in the past week but ... I haven't been posting much lately, so I don't know how long this has been going on.

I've noticed that too, Lion. It might be related to a problem I had with a plugin about the time it started. I'll have to investigate when my brain doesn't have cold medicine running through it!

stands in line with the others that are having difficulty editing their posts due to recent image tag bugs!

We're also having a resurgence of an old bug. It could be a separate issue, but this time I think it's part of the issue being discussed here on the thread you're reading here with the "odd text appearing in posts". The old bug is here: Editing not working properly: takeonestepatatime.proboards.com/thread/23753/

The odd text thing has been happening to me for the last few days, in my list post. When I edit something, even just one thing, the text then appears after all of my checkboxes and sometimes other smileys. I think it happened even when I didn't preview my post before hitting Post. I haven't noticed the blurry problem.

Celeste, I hope I'm not nagging, but did you look into the problem? I get that extra text if I hit "Edit" (I use bbcode as default), and instead of ::imagename:: (which would be correct) I see ::imagename::" style="max-width:100%;" ] even before I preview my message so I guess a script "forgets" to delete the extra text. It doesn't happen with smilies without double colons. It doesn't happen as long as I only switch between bbcode and preview, at least not if I'm writing the original post (before hitting "post" for the first time).

I have been having this problem too. I have not used much smileys in the recent months because I simply got used not to, during the old bugs we've been having previously. But now I tried using smileys in my list I needed to quote and edit everyday and this piece of code appears. It got so time comsuming I decided to stop using smileys on my lists again.
