I read too much last night and didn't go to bed till 11:30. I slept until 7 this morning and feel better. When the power was off last week, it messed up the alarm clock and I haven't reset it. I really don't need an alarm anymore and it usually messed up my sleep. When I get around to resetting the clock, I will not put the alarm on unless I need to get up early to go somewhere. I wanted to shoot the clock when I retired, but DH insisted on leaving it on so the radio would come on and he could listen.

angela - you are right - getting off the computer at a decent hour has made a huge difference in my ability to get to sleep at night. imamess - good to hear you got a full night's sleep. lights out etc on time last night. This morning I spent a long time in bed after the alarm went off at 0900 and didn't get vertical until almost 1030. Bad Bobolink.

imamess, I have only set my alarm when I have needed to be somewhere earlier than normal. It is working very well for me to get to bed early and letting myself wake up with the light. bobolink, I'll bet the more you are consistent with the bedtime, your wake-up and get-up times with start to be more consistent as well. At least that has been my experience. Some days are more demanding and we require more sleep or just rest in bed. I got my light off at 10:30 last night, lambs woke me at 5:00 for their bottle, then we all went back to sleep for another few hours, finally rising at 9:30. I have had a lot of morning dreams during this sleep time and I think I am processing a lot of emotional stuff which I do through my dreams so that is good. Also, Grace kitty is a very loyal snuggler so having this early morning wake-up gives us some bonus snuggle time. Good for both of us. I'm going to try to get my lights off earlier tonight so I can stay up in the morning when the lambs wake me. They are awake with the roosters though there is no light in the sky that early.

I admit to staying away from this thread when I'm doing really badly. I've had nights of being awake til dawn too.
Last night. goal was lights out at 11 as I have yoga this am, and suggested wisdom is not to eat right beforehand. I was there, then remembered I had forgotten evening SupMeds so got up for that, then realised lying straight down possibly not the wisest thing, but did it anyway. Sleep quality, lots of awake, but not overly awake. Woke at 6. took Tmeds and started bfst cooking and went back to bed, then bfst after7.

turned off my morning alarm and slept nearly 11 hours. I'm a little concerned about how much sleep I appear to need - 8 or 9 hours just doesn't seem to be enough. Hope I can still get to sleep at a reasonable hour tonight.

Aww, check in anyway wynken. I am often up and down 3 or 4 times once I actually pull back the covers and lay down. It is an anxiety thing for me, water, food, bathroom, check door locks, etc. bobolink it might help you to keep a very simple sleep journal, sleepy time, wake up time, amount of sleep, quality. There might be a cycle happening that would be helpful for your doc to know about. I had set my goal for 10:30 lights out and got there, hooray. Lambs woke me at 4:30, went back to bed till 8:45.

ty angela. bobolink - I used keep a sleep diary and at months end looked at how many times I went to bed at what time (I used hour blocks (12-1; 1-2; etc) with the aim of have less really late nights and more of more desirable times. It would give me a wriggle on at night to get to lights out before it fell in the next hour. Last night the push just got me to the bathroom by 12. I forget lights out time. Woke and then up a 6.30. back to bed after that til 7.15. If food is meant to be 2 hrs thru my system before exercise classes, and I need an hr between Tmeds and breakfast, and breakfast needs cooking, and I want enough hours rest in bed, perhaps to sleep, then I need to seriously get my body and mind to accept an earlier bedtime. Because of hypoglycemia of old, I tend not to do the morning exercise on empty stomach thing, even though many recommend that for weight loss and hypoglycemia. I'll need to start a plan to make 11pm 'it' then see if I can trick myself earlier as winter comes on here. Now - otd for (sigh) 9am tai chi.

Good idea, angela. It would make sense to track that in conjunction with a mood chart. There may be something there that coincides with my bipolar cycles. I've been tracking what I eat, and this shouldn't be much more difficult. Theoretically.

Way too tired last night! Went to bed at 11 and woke up at 2:30. Here it is 4:30 and I'm still not sleepy. Today will be a long hard day if I don't get another nap.

Have shifted my computer shut-down and lights off times so I get to bed a little earlier. I think shutting down the computer at least an hour before bedtime is really making a difference in getting to sleep.
Got up 15 minutes after planned time, so not so bad.

Did you get another bit of sleep imamess? Hope so. I'm really glad getting the computer off is helping you get to sleep bobolink. When I stopped using my iPad in bed things did change for me. I've slipped a tiny bit in that I watch a 20 minute sit-com on my phone, but I am mostly laying down flat (at an angle I guess) and I am often drifting off to sleep about halfway through the program. Last night I had an upset stomach so didn't really get to sleep until late. I slept okay I guess until about 8:00. Didn't feel rested today but managed. It's 9:20 now and I'm heading to bed and my little TV show on my phone.

Well done on your evening bobolink. I got my light off well and early last night, had another iffy sleep though, sweats. Ah, hormones. I suspect too that I have again accidentally ingested MSG or one of it's alternatives through spice blends that have been in some crackers that I bought. It induces sweats, dry mouth, and vivid dreams. Sometimes nightmares though last night's were relatively pleasant. Lambs woke me at 5 ish? for their bottle, we all went back to sleep until 8:45 or so.

angela, you make me laugh when you say the lambs woke you - I imagine them standing on their little hind feet and tapping you on the shoulder. Ah, Hormones indeed. Glad I'm done with that.

bobolink there is tapping indeed, their little feet tapping tapping on the floor as they run around with excitement! I envy you and those that are on the other side of the hormonal mischief. Gah. I can't wait.
