Ta da's: Some vacuuming Some laundry Pulled out dresser & took down mirror Dusted & vacuumed behind them Moved stuff out of bottom of laundry closet and put cat bowls in there. Brought dirty water buckets up from basement Dumped & rinsed buckets. Scooped litter boxes Swished & swiped bathroom Tidied up DD's room, got her laundry & dishes, took her sheets off to wash. To do's: Have a cup of coffee another thing another thing

Nice going on your tadas larataylor! Very impressive list as always ! Good job on scooping swishing swiping and dumping. i don't have any cheese but I just set up two traps laced with some yummy potatoes from my Sunday pot roast. I put one under the sink and another in a bottom cabinet that has a suspicious looking opening in the back where the gas valve for,the stove is. I'd much rather the cat do the job, so I don't have to pull mangled critters from a trap, but oh well. When I get back to work I'll track down our live traps so there's at least a,possibility of doing this in a less traumatic way and if I catch any I can rehome them to the sand dunes or some area outside of town. I'm not, scared,of mice and don't have anything against them personally, but in the interest of Continuing to work towards a squalor free home the varmints have to go. Sorry dudes

Whoops. I just realized I put my WIT post on this thread. Posting on different threads is too much for my little brain. The litter boxes were on the list, though!

Oh no cyn, maybe kitty is trying to tell you something? Checked litter (no scooping required), swept, refreshed cat water bowl. Bought more cat litter to have on hand.

Cleanbee, your kitty is awesome! WTG, getting the mouse! My cat (nope, didn't really trade her after all, ha) will occasionally catch one, but she's not a serious mouser. Unfortunately.
Jendela - IDK, do cats toys with humans? Ok, that was a *dumb* question - of course they do! She's pooping every other one in the box. Why? Before, is was constantly in the box, no matter how gross it was. Then it was constantly on the floor, no matter how clean the box was. Now, every other one is in the box. She *must* be trying to drive me crazy! That's the only explanation I can think of.
ETA: last night before bed, scooped poop out of box and was thrilled! this morning first thing, scrubbed poop off tiles and was very disappointed. Oh cat!

Cyn, we rescued two tiny kittens nearly two years ago. They are fixed and they are our first ever cats. Sometimes we find poop out of litter boxes too even when clean. We found out that one definitely prefers unscented litter but it makes no sense to us why sometimes still poop on floor and not in clean box.
Litter boxes done this morning.

cyn - what if you gave her another box in the spot where she usually poops on the floor? Maybe she just needs some variety … Scooped all my boxes. I don't know where my tiny dustpan is. To do: a quick round with the vac. My neighbor brought me her grocery bag stash yesterday.

Hi cyn, I’m no cat psychologist, but my guess is that your cat is trying to tell you something. I remember when a friend got a 2nd cat and her elderly original cat was very, very displeased. I still remember my friend told me how her cat had jumped on her car and wee’ed (is that a word?) right in front of her face on the windscreen. Yes, her cat was saying I am really, really p***d off!
Good luck in trying to figure this out.
I have checked litter - no scooping or sweeping required and refreshed cat water bowl.
ETA - I hope this doesn't sound too harsh - this is coming from the perspective of a one pet family, where Ms Kitty is top of the family pecking order. Just wondering if your cat has been unsettled by some of the positive changes you are making? I know that our cat has been really distressed by other cats in 'her' yard when she is inside at night, so she was throwing herself at the window trying to get out. She was distressed to the extent that the vet suggested that we put frosted glass in all the lower windows. Sometimes it is so hard to figure out what a cat is thinking.

Scooped poop! Yay! Cleanbee, thanks for the litter suggestion. Jendela, you might have figured it out - it's true that this desqualoring isn't in my cat's best interest, because previously I had laundry baskets everywhere, and piles of clothing. She *adored* all that bedding, which wasn't intended for her. And now it's gone. So she could definitely be upset by this. But, I had a roommate once, with a cat: that cat would poop on his owner's pillow, when he went to work! OMG, can you imagine? Another friend said her cat pooped in her shoes! My dirty tiles are nothing compared to that.

cyn - so true - the cats love the piles of clothing, clean or dirty. My young one appreciates the floors and surfaces to tear around on, but the older ones appreciate boxes and piles of stuff. Maybe you could make some deliberate nesting places for her? Edit: I forgot! I scooped the boxes and did a quick vac around the boxes.
