Hi flotsam, thank you for your suggestions. I don't have an e-reader yet, but I do have a great local library and I checked to find they have several copies should I feel the need to re-read. The reality is that I am probably not going to re-read "Tess" - I have lots more books to read for the first time before this, and I remembered finding the ending quite grim. Another part of the problem is that it is an old copy and the pages have started to fall, so I have sadly decided that it was not good enough to donate. I think the only option is the recycle bin.
Thanks for help with the decision making process and good luck with your own book sorting.
To do - hang washing - something to eat

Hello, I just wanted to pop in and say hi, even though I didn't get anything much done today! I spent most of the day at my sister's house, then I came home and just did things like washing cat food dishes and putting things away until I had to go out for a paid dog walk. This weekend I should have some time to work on the apartment, and I really would love to be able to call next week to get a radiator repair person to come for an estimate. I'm guessing they're busy right now and won't be able to come right away, but I'll have to be ready when I call, just in case. So I have to do a little more decluttering and a lot of cleaning before then. So that's what I'll be working on this weekend. It's been many years since I read "Tess", I remember liking it a lot. But, yes, it's readily available if the need for a re-read arises! Diane

Did I say I start to have more energy? Well, that is not true any more. I just dusted and hoovered quickly, I have not done it last week and it realy showed and now I feel like I would spend a whole day in bed again.

Lucie, recovery takes a bit of time. Start slowly. I have both kind of handkerchiefs: some that are a bit hard and I wouldn't like to use them with a cold (well, don't like to use them any time), some really nicely soft. Hmmm, that gets me thinking: maybe I should toss the bad ones and buy more good ones. I deserve good stuff, don't I? The rest of yesterday went surprisingly well. Today I did my morning routine, recharged the batteries for the alarm clock and put the charger away immediately , tidied to "good enough to let craftsman in" and read some pages for work while waiting for him. Then I reheated dinner. Next: digital decluttering while drinking cappuccino.

Digital decluttering done, dishes done, and I renewed two library books online. The loan period is a bit longer than usual due to the holidays . Next: grocery store .

Good morning, I want to take advantage of the hours I have this morning, I have a long mid-day job later. Lucie, ease back into your work gradually. If I dusted and vacuumed I'd consider it a whole day's work! Flotsam, yes, get rid of the scratchy handkerchiefs! Or put them in the toolbox to use as sandpaper. (When I was a child I got a gift of those scratchy handkerchiefs. And they sat in a drawer for years until I threw them away!) It's been a long time since I've seen someone using a handkerchief here, in the land of disposable everything. Cando, I looked at the video about the shooting, very scary to know someone who was there. The sad thing is, these are becoming so commonplace, I didn't even read the news about it until I knew that your nephew was there. It seems we're getting one of these every week now. I'm going to try to finally work on my main desk today. Have a great Saturday everyone, be strong and get stuff out! Diane

Good Saturday morning everyone. I am going to try to join in here this weekend to get some stuff done. Having moved on Monday I am living surrounded by boxes and too much furniture in the wrong places and messes of things with no homes yet. Some days I just don't know where to start. Its just making me feel antsy. Plus I need to return to work soon, so Id like to get some done so I at least like coming home - because I love my new apartment.
Plans also for today are to go out to lunch with my friend B, to celebrate our birthdays, which I delayed because of my move. So a bit of work and a bit of pleasure - but I really do want to get as much done here as possible.
I'm going to start by hanging up 2 or 3 bags of clothes in my bedroom closet

Good morning! Good luck getting everything you want done, everyone - and have fun doing it - it's Saturday! I'm going to work later, so my big carpet plans have to get going as soon as DH wakes up. Laundry in dryer, cat mess cleaned, all animals fed, ashtrays cleaned, and my lovely new (to me, ha) candlesticks are clean and holding my candles, waiting for the next power outage - hopefully, not for a while, but I'm ready! Yay! In the olden days (pre-Soos) that would have sat on my kitchen table for ages...and then lost, just like the candles were, ha. I found them moving a bookshelf, because apparently that's where I stash candles. Under newspapers, so you don't know they're there!

flotsam of course you deserve good stuff! Get rid off those hard ones. dtesposito I hooverd just my room and a kitchen and did not even wipe the surfaces there. But it is good enough for me this week. I have been cooped up at home since Tuesday and I am starting to get bored. Even reading books does not have such a big appeal, I have read a lot of them, hardly did anything else. Good sign, maybe I will be able to go back to work on Tuesday after all.

It's been a long time since I've seen someone using a handkerchief here, in the land of disposable everything. It's not much different here. They are used mainly by elderly ladies (and husbands of elderly ladies). With my less than 50 years I'm sort of a spring chicken in the community of people using handkerchiefs . I combined a walk (about 2.5 miles) with buying groceries, put those away and started a load of laundry. Next: drink tea and think about next chores.

The new computer is sucking my time, but it's something I have to get done, get all the settings and programs to run properly so I can the effectively use it. I slept past my laundry room time, and will have to try to book few hours either tonight or tomorrow. I should also go to the grocery store, take metal and glass recyclable with dog (1 km walk on both ways), wash dishes (I just put them soaking and put away the clean dishes.
Other things I'd like to get done: vacuum and wash floor, put away things that have started to accumulate.
Then non-housework related:
- set up and get familiar with the new computer - physio exercises 1 move 3 sets - study at least 1 h

OnTheMend, what fun to have a new computer--enjoy it while it's fresh and shiny! I decluttered everything except my main desk and the 2nd BR--and the 2nd BR just has a few things out of place. I'll be home from mid-afternoon on and will resume work then. Diane

I can't bear the thought of dropping a snotty handkerchief into my laundry. My grandfather used to use them and my Dad. My grandmother used to scrape the dried stuff off before dropping it in. I have no clue what Mom did. cyn I did not manage to get the new tv out or do anything last night. I just dived into bed and then slept for 10 hours. I need to figure out where all my energy has gone. Hope you get to feeling better lucieflotsam I need to get groceries too but am drawing a blank for menu planning. So I need to do that first. hollyhock moving is always hard but in a lot of ways it is a fresh start to living how you want to live. dtesposito WTG on all the decluttering!!! OnTheMend Yay for new computer!!!
