Did you try stain remover. I used professional grade carpet stain remover and got out a berry stain that was blue.

i'll camp out with ya cyn! what are you using - just water on the carpet, or more? i have a small peed on throw rug. not sure if my cat did it but it smells like pee in a spot on the underneath side. it may just be water that dripped down from showers but to my nose it smelled like pee. i don't want my cat to think HE can pee there too. i may try damp baking soda, then vinegar. what do other peeps use? it's not affecting the top pile part regarding stain. some folks swear by oxy clean so i may buy some to try that.
i'm happy to report that my bathroom floor ick was tackled. i got it "first phase" cleaned up. the ground-in steamed-in dustbunnies are gone. i even cleaned off my plastic drawer unit.
i also started working on hard water stains ick in the toilet. it's about 50% better after 2 rounds with CLR and stiff brushing.
today i did the big non-draining bathroom sink ick. swampy posted a great youtube vid of how to take out a sink plunger. i did it, cleaned out the ick (which shamefully, looked more like dust bunnies than hair - but i did throw a bunch of baking soda and vinegar down it several times before taking apart so who knows what it was? it's gone now and i have a bathroom sink that drains again! that guy on the video - i am in love with his can-do calm! got to look up more of his videos!
my next ick will be some of the floor dust bunnies and dander all over the carpet - where i can see the carpet.

I'm using an enzyme cleaner, and then the 'pet stain remover' soap in the machine. I think I need to put some elbow grease into it, and really give it a good scrubbing the next time. Or get what you suggested, lostchild - a real commercial grade.
CC, congrats on a your work - especially the draining sink, yay! Nothing's worse than a slow/non draining sink. ICK in the making!

Okay here's everyone's chuckle for today.
So I work up my nerve cuz I figure there's a huge mouse, maybe even a rat that's been killed by the cat underneath the sink because there were poops in there I thought I already cleaned.
So I worry and work myself up to it a bit at a time.
I get out the tongs, I get a dog baggie, I get the de-mousifying rubber gloves.
I work up my nerve, hold my breath...heart is pounding.
I scoop the mouse up with the tongs and think, "How come that mouse is boneless?"
Turns out that "new" mouse at the back of the cupboard was nothing more than a piece of steel wool that had fallen off the other cupboard shelf when I was cleaning them ::eyeroll::
All I can think is that we often work ourselves up into a big sweat for something that turns out to be nothing.
Now I'll just finish de-mousifying it.

My latest ick in is db's rental house. Years ago our parents had a concrete slab porch poured at the back of the house. Then later, as they could afford it, they enclosed it and made a laundry room out of it. It took 4.5 hours to scrub a 6x6 section of the floor, a couple of feet at a time. I would dribble dish soap over it, pour boiling water over that, scrub with a scrub brush that has a long handle in it, take a rag, wipe up the mud, take a scraper and scrap the mounds of stuff that didn't come up the first time, scrub again and rinse and wipe again. The difference is unbelievable. I told db this afternoon to be sure and take a look at it. I am stretching out on the couch for a while, 'cause I am TIRED!

Thanks reb. There is still 2/3 of the floor to go, but I think I did the worst section yesterday. Db will have to move some furniture before I can finish.

I've been picking an ick to clean while my bath fills at night. I'm not 100% every day on this. But even little bits of deep cleaning progress helps. This last week I cleared and wiped the bathroom counters. Threw out some old lotions and such, wiped down all the things I was keeping, put them in orderly rows, and thoroughly wiped the counter and backsplash. It looks so nice to see when I walk in the bathroom I think I'll keep going with the bathroom until I feel like it's in really good shape. Oh and before the counter, I went through the cabinet, which had mold everywhere in it! Eww..and threw out a bunch of stuff, wiped the whole thing out with hydrogen peroxide, wiped down the things I was keeping. It looks great now. When I take my bath a lot of condensation builds as I don't have a fan in there. So I've been opening the cabinet doors after I leave the bathroom so the interior with dry along with the rest of the room.

angela! That's great progress, and especially since you're enjoying it being tidy. I notice that some things I fix up don't really mean so much - but the ones that *do* are the ones that cheer me on and hopefully make me want to/not mind/stop avoiding fixing up other areas. I really love being able to open my bathroom vanity now, and take something out - without having to replace the entire contents of a shelf after it all tumbled into the sink.

Thank you cyn! I love it too when my effort yields dramatic visual difference. It's a great reward! Of course not all icks are going to be this dramatic but that's okay too. I'm glad for this one.

It's a good one! But now I'm wondering if that's part of the appeal to me, and that's why I wait until an area's so gosh-darn filthy before cleaning it. My normal fridge or a clean fridge doesn't look very different to me. A super-gross fridge, with gravy stuck to the door and butter smeared on the shelf, with huge sticky juice rings on the shelves...LMAO, now *that* looks fabulous when it's clean. Funny but true.

More work in the bathroom tonight. I'm working my way around the room, really wiping things down and detailing.
I've got a ways to go yet but it is looking and feeling better.

You know, I feel this way too. I knew a lovely older woman years ago who told me she didn't clean things or areas in her house until they looked dirty. She lived in a "normal" home.
Right now, I could pick any area in my house and get the same gratification! But my walls are driving me crazy and I consider them to be my "ick".
