everyone!! Managed to unpack all of the stuff in my office and remove everything that didn't belong in the office. Still massive piles of paper everywhere but did finish up a tax deadline yesterday morning. On the hit parade for today - reorganization of the pantry and unpacking boxes in master bathroom. "Debating" having a house warming at the end of February but not sure I could withstand that kick in the pants PC

We got another 10 or more inches of snow today between the periods of sleet. NO work. I worked on a paper pile today. I didn't finish it, but it has shrunk down a lot. Last week worked on cookbooks: 7 big cookbooks, 8 pamphlet/small cookbooks into library book sale box; 7 pamphlet/small cookbooks into recycling bin.

With my computer having been down for a while but fixed now I figured I should update my list and see where I am in regards to what I was working on for this 2 month period.
1) Keep up with all of my medical appointments and meds - Have been keeping on top of meds and medical appointments but need to be better about listening to my doctor especially once I feel better. I have found once I feel better I do too much and seriously get myself in trouble. It is hard for me with all the snow storms lately not to go out and shovel but need to listen and slow down and work on easier things. 2) seriously work with older ds with his schooling since he is seriously struggling - he was able to pass all of his mid-terms and seems to be more into school at this point. We are now picking out classes for next year for him and he has said he wants to join the Air Force JROTC that starts next year at his high school. 3) get my room cleaned and organized especially all of the paperwork - I had my room all setup the way I wanted it but then bought a gorgeous bed frame so will need to work around that at this point but I did need it since bed is getting ruined on the floor. I plan to go buy a neat desk organizer since the way I am scanning papers now is taking way too long. 4) Get all my paperwork from my business last year together for taxes - done and I have gotten my refund from federal and state!
I also plan today to go out and buy a new sewing machine since my old one doesn't have all the functions I need since I can't do organizing anymore I figured I would get back into sewing again which may actually be a good idea anyways.

I used a Neat scanner for the first time when we were trying to buy a house remotely. So much paperwork for the mortgage and I was able to scan it all and put in a shared folder for mortgage company, etc. They are great. Now I need to use it to cut down on the extra papers I have floating around.

More snow today; no work. I finished the paper pile I was working on. Made many phone calls. Found a bill that they say had already been paid. (I don't think so, but I'm not argueing.) Made and ready to send valentines. Very productive day. I know this paper pile was not on a Jan./Feb. goal list but it needed to get done. Hopefully I can begin cleaning shelves which is on the goal list.

Just re-read my first post to see what I planned to do during the two months. I wanted to be unpacked. Two weeks left in the month. I won't be completely unpacked especially since part of the two weeks - I will be out of state. Current plan before month end: 1) Unpack master bathroom 2) Move all the book boxes into the new "library" - need to get book shelves before I can unpack in there. 3) Have "got junk" haul away all the stuff in the storage area from the previous owner and the renovation. 4) Unpack some "knick knack" type things into existing shelves. New goal for March 1st - unpack whatever had a "place to go" so that in March can complete library and start hanging things on the walls. Anything in the basement area will also wait until after February. Good luck everyone!! PC

hi diane and all who are working on this! i started so late but am setting a few goals. hoping you will do a spring thread too!
we have a big inspection the first week of April... I was privy to this info very early and am going to make full use of it to give me the push i need. I do NOT want to keep crisis cleaning for inspections - especially since I am on area manager's "want to evict" list for my hoarding and squalor. I need this roof over my head.
i need to think about do-able goals toward this that i can do by end of Feb., and then make new goals for the month of March. There are 2 FULL hoarded storage units involved. stuff from both of them, and the apt. have to go. Re-thinking everything.

It has been quite a while since I updated my progress and seriously seem to have fallen back into bad habits and need to get myself re-focused and working on my room again. I also didn't realize this computer has no cd drive so I can't load my neat scanner so need to price out how much it would be to install a cd drive onto here.
I am also fighting to try and get into a counseling place and to see a neurologist since appointments are one to two months out and that is too long for me to wait. 2) seriously work with older ds with his schooling since he is seriously struggling - he was able to pass all of his mid-terms and seems to be more into school at this point. He is now interested in automotives so they are working on getting him into that and he now has a girlfriend who is hel ping him focus more on his school work which is a good thing. We had a PT for him and everything seems to be going fairly well now. 3) get my room cleaned and organized especially all of the paperwork - I had my room all setup the way I wanted it but then bought a gorgeous bed frame so will need to work around that at this point but I did need it since bed is getting ruined on the floor. I bought a neat desk organizer since the way I am scanning papers now is taking way too long but need a cd-rom drive. 4) Get all my paperwork from my business last year together for taxes - done and I have gotten my refund from federal and state!

Hello everyone--I feel so bad about having practically abandoned this thread for a while. I've been so discouraged that 2 out of the 3 things I wanted to do are going badly. The last week I've tried to really push the book donating, and I have succeeded in getting rid of one box of donated books, plus I've moved things around and managed to get one more box of trade books out of the LR. Those books are not out of the apartment, but I DID get rid of older books so I could put them on a top shelf in my spare bedroom, so that counts--I wanted them either out of the apartment, or in another storage space that had to be emptied to make room. So I've finished 5 of the 10 boxes I wanted to get rid of. Also, last night and today, I tried washing a set of blinds by hand. Now that I'm a safe distance from that first awful experience--and most importantly, did it in small segments, it wasn't THAT bad. It did still take somewhere around an hour and a half to do, and it wasn't fun. But the worst part was the top slats, because I have to stand on a step stool and constantly reach up to clean them, and I can't see them well without constantly adjusting the blinds. Plus I have to do it at a sunny time of day so I can see what I'm doing. But it didn't kill me! I will not be able to get them all done by my goal date, since I have 11 more sets to do, but I think I'll do a few more and see how it goes. If I happen to find a way to get to a Home Depot without it costing me extra, I'll still plan on buying new ones--but for now, I'll keep trying to wash little bits here and there. The ID issue I'm leaving alone for now--it's too upsetting and throws me way off kilter every time I think about it. It would be nice to get some part of that goal done, but it's the one I'm worrying least about right now. Congratulations to those of you who are persevering and accomplishing steps towards your goals. And CreativeChaos, I'm thrilled to see you here! Please do make some concrete plans for the rest of February, and for sure there will be a spring goal thread too. You'll have to keep your inspection goal in mind, so maybe work differently than you would if you didn't have that to worry about, but you still have enough time to make a big difference. Try to think of things in terms of space available--it might work for you, it did for me. It took some of the emotion away from the decisions. I am committing to reporting here at least every couple of days until the end of February, even if I have to say I didn't get anything done. I still hope to get the book goal done--5 boxes in a week and a half will not be easy, but I've managed to find a new trading site that is helping me unload some of the books I just haven't been able to part with before, so if I can clear some more space in my 2nd BR by getting trading books out, I can use the space for the books still to be listed. Not ideal, but my goal was getting them out of the LR and I would be happy with that at this point. Diane

Diane, Good for you for jumping back in, working through discouragement, revising your goals to do the ones that are top priority, and getting more donated books out and the venetian blinds washed. that is huge! thanks for the welcome back; it is great to be back here. I'm still having trouble with the goal setting part. There are 10 days left in February. my schedule is beginning to fill again - winter 'down time' is quickly coming to an end, and i dread it. i want to spend the next couple months on this place - well really the next couple of years. The most glaring things are all the boxes of fabric I've acquired over the past 2 years that have taken over the living room; floor, loveseat, table, shelves; . There really is "no place" in here to put them all. I am using a neighbor's downstairs storage unit for some of the boxes of fabric: I suppose I could put the boxes of fabric down there just to get it OUT of here - but that is not an ideal situation. if i can't "see" it i won't know what i have or use it. KITCHEN: go through vitamins and supplements. toss expired ones or ones I have not used and will never use. BATHROOM: there are 2 boxes on the floor and under the sink is chock full of stuff. go through that stuff and cull what i can so there are no boxes on the floor. COMPUTER DESK - finish clearing and cleaning top and maintain. APT - keep maintaining what i have gained, and add to the gains. i think that is all i can handle right now!

Was finally able to buy a dvd drive and start to get my neat scanner setup but am having a couple of difficulties. I plan to get that fixed tomorrow since I am home bound for a while since the doctors finally figured out what was happening. I found out today that my major issue is that I am having a severe flare of lupus so doctors told me to stay home and rest and make sure I eat the right foods and enough food to try and rebuild my strength. I was ble to get an appointment to see my therapist again on March 12th and see the psychiatrist on March 25th! 2) seriously work with older ds with his schooling since he is seriously struggling - he was able to pass all of his mid-terms and seems to be more into school at this point. He is now interested in automotives so they are working on getting him into that and he now has a girlfriend who is helping him focus more on his school work which is a good thing. We had a PPT for him and everything seems to be going fairly well now. Have the dvd-drive and have the neat scanner setup and working and have started scanning papers into this morning! I may actually able to make a big dent in my room now which makes me feel really good. 4) Get all my paperwork from my business last year together for taxes - done and I have gotten my refund from federal and state! That is making me happy but getting my room done by the end of Feb is looking like it won't happen but getting 3 of 4 items finished has me in good spirits now. Hopefully once this flare of lupus calms down I will be able to get my room finished soon.

Andrea, I hope you're taking it easy and using your scanner instead of doing a lot of running around--you've already accomplished a lot for someone with your health problems. CC, I LOVE seeing lists! How is your maintenance going? How does your computer desk look today? I had a couple of hours in between pet care visits and just don't have much energy, so I gave myself a job to do while sitting at my computer. I made the list of everything that's in my wallet, including the name of the card, the account or ID number and the phone number to call if the card is lost. I'm printing out a copy to hide somewhere in my paper files (but I need to remember where it is ) and I'll keep a copy on the computer, with a document title that isn't obvious. So I did one tiny thing towards my document goal. I also need to send another email to the state about my ID, just in case there might be someone there who has any sense and can see that I need an actual answer instead of a copied paragraph off of their website. I don't expect anything to come out of these last efforts, but I feel compelled to be able to say I did everything I could think of. There's one more thing I can do towards this goal, collect some information to give to my sister, and check some information she gave me about her insurance a while ago. After that, I think I have to admit defeat--for now. Diane
