I got the new Java update as the chat screen said from Java. However, when I try to get in I get an active x installation from an unverified source error that kicks me out. Even when I say go ahead install from this website the protection software goes crazy and says no. So will the website be updated again so it does not freak out the antivirus programs?

I couldn't even get that far when I tried to visit chat a couple days ago. I assumed my old laptop needed other updates I hadn't yet finished installing.
All I got when I tried to go to chat is the screen saying I need java. I HAVE the most recent version of java, and Oracle assures me I have the most current update. I was too busy to dig around further.
I've only been in chat twice before, once from my phone (difficult), the other from my laptop - so at least I know I *could* access it.
Is the issue stemming from the SooS site? I feel better if that's the case!

I can't get in the chat either and it says "a plug in is needed to display this content". I have both adblock and no script. I gave permissions in no script and I still can't get it working. Any ideas?

Greg - I have Windows 7 Home Premium. I am on a Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop with a 64-bit OS. I have the latest version of Java installed, according to the pushed update and double-checking at Oracle. I believe it is Java version 8, update 31. I am using Google Chrome browser because I've been having problems with Internet Explorer - it no longer wants to connect reliably to the internet through our wireless/wi-fi. I hope this gives you enough to point me in the right direction. Thanks!

IrisheyesMake sure you do not have any older java installed in your system. You can check this in your installed programs from your computer control panel. If that doesn't work then try going to the computer's control panel then click the Java coffee cup. Click the settings button then Delete Files. Select the top two or all three then OK. P.S. You and I have the same system albeit on different manufactures of computers.

Greg - I did the Java uninstall through Oracle a few days ago to see if that would help. It said it successfully uninstalled older versions, but no joy on fixing the chat issue. Interestingly enough, just now when I went through the list of programs during the uninstall feature in Control Panel as you suggested, I found Java 7 Update 40. I have uninstalled it. I thought I had managed to fix everything before, because I had managed to at least get an error message (which is beyond simply getting to the intro message and the gray puzzle piece as had been happening), but I am still getting the same error message as I did after doing the previous attempt to uninstall older versions of Java. I had added this board to the allowed sites because of this error message. This is the error message I continue to receive: Application Blocked by Deployment Set Rule I won't retype it all here, but essentially it has to do with automatic high and very high security restrictions. I believe this is a new thing with Google Chrome. I added the chat page link to my exceptions list, but it still doesn't like it because the application refers to resources on multiple domains. It goes on to state the jnlp file is not on the exception list (I didn't add it, but didn't want to keep adding exceptions if the main chat page link would not be accepted). I really don't want to try to go back to Internet Explorer, but it sounds as if I may have to...unless you have other suggestions. Thanks for your time!

IrisheyesI'm not sure you need to have anything in the exceptions list. Also, is your Java security set to High or Very High. If it's set on Very High take it back down to High.

Greg - I removed the url for this board from the exceptions list. Java security already was set to High instead of Very High. No idea what is causing this blip.

Did the manual download and install again. Nothing worked last night, but I am in chat this morning. Thank you again, Greg!
