I suppose turning it on its side and calling it a raised bed container garden wouldn't work either?

If you are just tossing the box springs, they can be taken apart and chopped into manageable pieces.....time consuming though

Hello CharlotteOhara! I can't be certain but I think Spring Break might just be a lifesaver for you especially if the CPS worker has kids also. That being said …You really need to get hold of a flatbed trailer for hauling. Get the stuff out then set off those bombs that kill roaches…You'll have to be gone from the house for a while. Then consider the functionality of the house are doors blocked, clean fridge for food, everyone have a clean and appropriate place to sleep, smoke alarms. Maybe this is a blessing in disguise.

You know, there is a country song that goes, ". . . when you're going through hell, keep on going!!" Your situation made me think of that!
Best wishes to you; you are going great!

Hi charlotteohara, I just finished a huge crisis clean myself today (house inspection) so I know how you're feeling. The stress and anxiety can be overwhelming. But you sound like you are on track and getting there - you've already accomplished so much! And when it's over you'll have a nice clean place to look forward to. I'm cheering for you. Good luck!

charlotteohara.... Even though it appears the landlord is a PITA about things being outside where they don;t belong (like free items)- looking at it from a different perspective - it means that your park looks better. THerefore the value of your property is higher and it makes for a nicer neighborhood. I know it is hard to think about that when you are crisis cleaning...... BTW - I am totally impressed with all of hte work you are doing. You are a woman on fire! Inspired!!!! I wish I could channel some of your energy!! And focus!!

You are doing a great job, I would borrow the truck, and just tell her it's to get some big things out before the move, no need to let her know you are crisis cleaning.
we are particular about some things at our rental (also a trailer) but if our tenants asked for help to haul away garbage that couldn't go in the bin, we would help them. Waiting on the last tenants stuff to melt out of the ice, I realise that being picky is really the only way to prevent that. We damaged out truck's tailgate last spring trying to get a previous tenants discarded mattress out of the ice.

Thanks again all! Ohblondie; I get that totally, I do, but this particular landlord is so hypocritical. The entire park (save one or two units) is owned by him and his family.. about 40 trailers. When we asked him about moving our own trailer into an empty lot (my mother's trailer, we were just curious about the possibility) he said that they are "very picky" and it would have to meet age requirements and so forth.. yet the reality here is that there are ancient trailers, lime green and worse, with foil in the windows, algae stains on the sides, etc. Every single one (ours included, though I have tried to hide it with plants) has the rusty original trailer hitch literally poking through broken underpinning material in front. There are kids toys all over, broken and sun faded and often in the road. There are several piles of rock and asphalt and other materials that the landlord ordered then ignored so they got rained on and hardened and are permanent little "mountains" all over the property. People have junk all around/on/under their porches and he doesn't say a word.. so yeah I was annoyed when he complained about a dryer with "FREE" on it out there for a few hours. boyswillbeboys; I can't even imagine the ice concern! I live in the South though. In this instance he won't allow us to place anything "excessively heavy" inside the dumpsters either, so no bookshelves or armchairs are supposed to go in there. Seems to be counter to his own interests though because when people can't put the stuff out they just leave it behind INSIDE the trailers when they move and he has to haul it out on his own anyway. dirtbee; thank you! I crashed and burned yesterday/today though,my "fire" went OUT and I ended up sleeping for 12 hours after staying up way too long doing a combination of cleaning and stressing. I know it's foolish and I KNOW better but I do the awful thing, stay up way past the point of exhaustion, crash hard, sleep longer than I should, then feel like hell when I wake up and it takes me longer to get moving. The anxiety keeps me up way past any "normal" period of time. I also slept in the newly-clean and organized bedroom and it was weird and disorienting! . Like sleeping in someone's guest room. Felt like I was not here and when I woke up I had a moment of complete confusion! Time to re-start that fire! We still have not actually heard from the CPS worker so still don't know for sure when this will happen which is good because it means we're not a priority for her but also nerve-wracking. I do better with a firm deadline in place and I keep thinking she'll just show up out of the blue which is making me a little crazy. Question; our litter boxes are technically in the kitchen.. should we move them? It know it sounds weird but the bathroom is small so we didn't put them there and they are on the opposite side of the kitchen from any food prep areas.. and kept very clean.. but now I'm wondering if we should move them anyway. The good news is that most of what's left in the living room is really simply a matter of bag and toss and of course cleaning the rug/floor after we find it again. I filled five smaller kitchen size bags and one large black trash bag last night in about an hour, it's mostly clothing and papers.. no thought needed about any of it, so I keep reminding myself of that when I look at it and it looks overwhelming. I keep reminding myself to focus on what the HORRIBLE things would be for a CPS worker to see vs just what's less than ideal. I have done so many loads of laundry but not put it away, and it's all piled on a chair in a bedroom, but that bedroom is clean/sanitary otherwise so I'm making myself leave the piles of clean laundry for now to focus on things that absolutely DO need attention like the gross area where the dog has peed and the piles of stuff that totally hide the floor in the living room. The kitchen is still pretty awful but spouse is working on that and it is improving slowly!

Hi Charlotteohara. I've just read your entire thread and want to say WOW. You have accomplished such an incredible amount in a very short time.
Well done, you amazingly energetic conqueror of squalor. That trailer will be a beacon of radiant cleanliness when you are finished.

Hi Charlotte, I haven't read the entire thread through so I apologize if I'm bringing up something that's already been stated or no longer a concern. You mentioned that the park manager doesn't want anything left outside, but is there any chance that something flat could be temporarily stored under the trailer until it can be tossed? I know that there are often makeshift or trellis coverings for the undercarriage and was wondering if that's a possibility. Also, you brought up the litter boxes...I'd move them. Not to say that there will be a problem with that, but some CPS workers can be more persnickety than others... If you have a spare room, how about putting down a nicely-folded tarp and placing them there? Or you could wait until the visit and then switch them there. Sometimes litter boxes need to be moved to the kitchen just for cleaning, right? You can do it. You're almost there. Brightest Blessings! Poppy
