I have a list 5 things this time, and 4 of those things were on the last challenge--which should either make depressed because I didn't finish them, or proud because I'm persistent! 1 Stretching. I will continue trying to stretch for 8 minutes a day, I'm pleased to say that I did do today's session earlier because I wanted to start on the actual first day of the challenge. 2 Book Job. I'm going to try a time commitment again on this, I don't do as well with time commitments as I do with task commitments, but an open-ended job like this is easy to put off, so I'm going to try to do a TOTAL of 10 hours on my book job (exclusive of filling any orders I get) over the two months--that's just a little more than an hour a week, very reasonable. 3 Summer Clothing. I still haven't finished this job, still to do are altering 2 pair of jeans (already purchased) and sewing the sleeves on a few scrub tops. 4 Blinds. This one is a repeat, but I actually did finish what I planned for early summer--it's just that there are so many dirty blinds in this apartment! I'm only going to commit to doing 2 this time, because I think I'd like to do the one in the kitchen--the kitchen window is an odd size, it's large, and high up, so it's going to require the ladder instead of the step-stool. I want to do the kitchen window because I don't even know if it opens at this point, so I can also investigate the window and the screen at the same time. Then I'll do one of the DR windows too. 5 Further decluttering. I came a long way with decluttering, so have kind of put that idea on the back burner, but as time goes on I realize that I now need to pare down a little more in each room. I can't quantify this one, because I don't know exactly how much more stuff I'll be able to get out, but I know that I end up with piles that slowly accumulate and start looking messy after a while. Maybe one thing I need to do is figure out a neater way to store the stuff I'm working on (like paperwork or books I'm in the process of checking and making decisions about) so they aren't in open piles on my desk or table. The other day I cleaned off the kitchen surfaces and ended up getting rid of a few things on one surface, and that particular place looks much more neat and clean--I would like more of my apartment to look that way. So that's it, I'm going to hope to do better on this one than the last one! Diane

I'll start with just one goal and see what unfolds from that.
Get The Barn Cleared Out - carried over - assessment scheduled for July 8th from a hoarding cleanup specialist. My nephew gave me the money and from all I've learned here I can let go of stuff now. I hope they aren't prohibitively expensive. I can't do it by myself.
Oh, and I forgot stretching. I'll give it 4 minutes before bed and work my way up.

Sparkle, that's wonderful, I hope that you can work with them for at least some period of time. I'll keep my fingers crossed that it works out for you.
And thank you for the stretching company--I need these exercises so much, they make such a difference for me and I get so mad at myself for not keeping up with them!

Diane and Sparkle! And - onward we go!! 1) finish hanging up all the pictures, plaques, tapestries, quilts, shelves, etc. - actually start and finish 2) about 20% of this project requires more than just a nail - some stuff has to be re-framed or framed in the first place. Or repaired. So, I'll throw that on the list as well. 3) Finally finish putting out my stuffed animals 4) Straighten out my desk - it has become a catch all 5) Work on taxes - home and office. And, since I have company coming and will be away part of August - this may be all I do and probably not even much of that PC

My dd & sil painted the walls and cabinets in my kitchen 5 weeks ago. The next day I decided to texture the ceiling while everything was moved out of the room. I hurt my hip and have not been able to do anything towards fixing this room back. My goal is to finish the kitchen and put almost everything back. 1. Touch up wall paint at trim. (Painting the trim was an afterthought. It should have been painted first.) 2. Paint kitchen door. 3. Paint three previously leaking spots with Kilz 4. Finish texturing the ceiling. 5. Move 2 shelves w/stuff back into the kitchen. 6. Find another home for an antique side table. 7. Put up new valance at kitchen window. 8. Clean off the table and buy a new table cloth for it.

I'll join in. I'm not sure what I'll tackle just yet, but I'll think of something.
Summertime is always a great time for me because there are no school commitments for the children so less time spent waiting and taxiing everyone around.
Thank you for starting this thread.

Hello Poppy, and maybe you can get the kids to help you with something! I have to get in the habit of posting here every day--I did do my stretches, this is the first time I've done them 2 days in a row for a while and my neck is feeling a little looser already. I probably won't be able to work on my other challenges until next week, since it's a holiday weekend, busy for my pet care job. I have been thinking about the decluttering though, looking around rooms and seeing where the "busy" spots are. I always have things out that I'm working on, and I tell myself it's okay, because over time I'll get them done--but I realized that I should have cabinets or drawers or something where I could put those things away until I actually have the time to do them--I can't, because all cabinets & drawers are full! So maybe that's my issue, time for another run-through of storage areas to see what else I can get rid of. It truly is a never-ending job, as long as we're alive we'll be acquiring things and having to get rid of other things! Diane

I weighted myself this morning, still 68,4 kilos. My body has obviously decided to keep it. I hope to see at least 66,4 there by the end of August. 65 would be much better.

Hi lucie, good luck getting those stubborn kilos to move! Ima, I was so shocked (and pleased) to see Sidestep that I completely missed your post! What happened with your hip? Is it all healed now? After 5 weeks of having things half-finished it's going to be wonderful to get things back in order. Just be careful on any ladders! Diane

Diane Diane, I strained my hip hopping up and down on a chair trying to texture my ceiling 5 weeks ago today. The doctor says that I have bursitis and next Friday he will put a shot in my hip. He would not do it last week since my poison ivy was so bad that I had to have a steroid shot for that. I have had three sessions with my chiropractor, many liniment rubs, several days in bed, etc. It is not healing so the shot is the last resort for me. I will not be finishing my ceiling for quite some time, but I can do a few other things in the kitchen without climbing. I can barely stand long enough to cook a meal. The pain is wearing me down.

Ima, that sounds awful--how discouraging that the usual things are not making it heal. Maybe someone can help you with the ceiling? Since climbing up and down is what aggravated it in the first place.
I did my stretching today, that is all!
