Have gotten a little sidetracked but have been working on going thru computer cd's and getting rid of any that don't work with my computer now which so far is 8 going in the trash. I will do 1 more challenge and then plan to call it a night since I have the appointment tomorrow. With the last challenge tonight I was able to get rid of another 9 cd's which means 18 are in the trash and leaving here.

it's so nice to have all your company - great going on big projects and small. Thanks for the cheers, Arid and mynicehome! it really helps with the motivation! i felt good about the other accomplishments that day. it has been so long since i have had that much "forward" motion. WTG Di on setting up your project - and boy, could i relate to "careless/dropped mess" and all 3 types of messes commingled - that is ok for recycling but not for our homes and floors. i have lived this way for most of my life - with commingled messes and piles. cheering you on. the apt in the arts and entertainment section of town sounds fun and fascinating! great list, andrea - getting rid of 18 old computer cd's is a great start and it's on your to do list! take good care and don't overdo it. woot woot iprocrastinate! 13 magazines released! so glad you are joining in with your big paper project! Here is my update:DRESSER PROJECT in walk-in closet: did not pan out. i have too many clothes, and other stuff stored in there that would have no home. i still have to get rid of that big dresser in deceased friend's apartment since it could have sold at the yard sale but i was so sure i wanted it. will talk to apt mgr tomorrow to see what time frame that has to happen. good news: I was able to fit 4 bins of fabric in there. i am in the process of putting clothes BACK into my closet - got that almost done. took at 5 challenges at least. did not seem to take that long to tear the whole closet apart! so far i put 6 worn out clothing items in a trash bag (it's hard for me to toss ANY clothes, no matter how worn out, so this is a big "success" for me) at least 6 items are in the donate/consign bag. hoping i can up that and get rid of more winter-y clothing while the consignment store will still take it. will go through hats, scarves, gloves, and outer wear too. did a lot of challenges last night and tonight. kitchen is looking better. dishes mostly caught up. there is more cleared floor in there. rough swept and spot-cleaned the worst exposed areas of kitchen floor. sorted some Christmas ornaments last night. will get back to that tomorrow night. Will let my friend go though all of the ones i'm releasing first, and then the rest will go to the thrift store or senior center (or trash).

Creative - great work on everything you got accomplished yesterday. After my appointment and volunteering I will be able to work for a few hours but we have boy scouts tonight so I have to go out again tonight but will seriously try to get work done around the house today.

Boy CC I know what you mean about finding it almost impossible to get rid of clothes. That's a real challenge for me also!! I got rid of 10 more catalogs and magazines--slowly the pile shrinks Didn't get a lot done as I took a friend to a doctor's app't then lunch out. She hasn't been getting out at all and loves to eat out. Such a sacrifice on my part.

Hello Arid, andrea, and iprocrastinate! Thanks for the cheers, Arid! great job on more magazines and catalogs out, ipro. and for being a good friend and having lunch out with an isolated friend. That counts big in my book. Andrea - I hope you were able to get a few things done around the house. Sounds like you already had a full day with scouts and volunteering. some days are like that. i am really tired from my long day and evening out. i brought one grocery bag full of winter clothes to the consignment store today (which included a kind of bulky jacket - so, not very many clothes) I won't get much more done tonight. i need to go to bed early and hopefully wake up refreshed and restored - i'm bushed. tomorrow i hope i will have more energy to finish sorting the ornaments and take them to friend and the thrift store.

Look at it this way, cc: that bulky jacket was taking up as much space as if you *had* gotten rid of more clothing! So, really, it is the same as if you had gotten rid of more.
See what I mean . . . ?

I like the way you think, Arid! yes, i see! thanks! so many of us minimize what we have done in these ways. Thanks for reframing this for me.

My doctors appointment yesterday was not so good for me and it has me concerned at this point. I found out from my MRI that they can see at least 6 bone spurs in my neck plus the discs in my neck and back are degenerating fairly quickly. In Jan I will go for more testing and will get another injection to try and help with the pain but all of my doctors agreed that I am going to need surgery within the year. Probably some time in Feb or March I will have to go see the neurosurgeon. This has put a whole new issue on the table for me and with the pain as severe as it is I have a feeling it will take quite a while to get much done around the house. I definitely know now that I will have to take things slow and steady so I don't injure myself any worse than it is now. I need to check and see if I switched my appointment around or if I have another today and if possible plan to focus on room as much as possible. Called the doctors office and my appointment isn't until next Tuesday morning which means I can work around here until I have to leave a little after noon.

CC congrats on the clothes out, bulky coat or not it's gone!! I've put 5 dresses in a bag to go--all either too big or still too small Two dresses were from 40+ years ago when a size 12 was smaller than a 10 now. Still good quality and style but no longer for me. WOW this was BIG. Andrea, so sorry to hear about your latest physical setback. Will think good thoughts and say a prayer. Arid, thanks for the encouragement.

WTG iprocrastinate on letting those dresses go! moving on to finding out what is you and your style is a healthy thing. i have several "hope to accomplish" tasks today, in between a lot of errand-y things, an interactive podcast to attend, and a community dinner tonight. 1) finish sorting through ornaments and try to let of of more, so they can be re-homed 2) mail out some gifts to the east coast today - ugh - means long lines. maybe do this first. 3) more clothes sorting and culling 4) catch up on dishes again. been slacking. and of course, there are the hoarded piles everywhere - ongoing work on those is needed.

Yesterday and today I was basically working on dvd's and cd's and a little bit on my floor but didn't get much else accomplished. Things did seem to be going decently today up until my older ds come home after his church teen group. He was being rude and obnoxious and didn't want to listen to me at all. He kept going after his brother verbally and told me he didn't have to listen to me. After slamming 2 doors and blocking the bathroom door with his brother in it and locking himself in his room and then pounding on it he started swearing at me. He then pushed past me and tried to play a video game and when I tried to stop him he got even angrier and started swearing at me and pushed me and with both of my parents yelling and my head seriously hurting I decided to go outside on the small roof. When I came back in I decided to take the 2 video game systems away and they will not be able to play again until I feel that they can behave and not blow up anymore. I was trying to go to sleep but with everything going on I am now wide awake and think I will work on my room and see what I can get done since between the pain and adrenaline right now. I was able to get rid of a bunch of papers and some dvd's that no longer work but I still have lots that I need to go thru at this point.
