I caught up quite a bit with just 40 min of straightening up. So things aren't a disaster. I still need to deal with mail and paperwork and do the floors. And load up the truck. Nobody is on chat though, so maybe I'll exercise a bit.
I'm glad she moved out, di. I was wondering why you were cleaning your roommates room!

I did another 40 min today. About that much anyway. I cleaned the kitchen twice. Took the garbage to the curb. Brushed the dog! Took junk out to the truck. Still need to load it up though. Opened the mail! Some of that counts I think.
My morale is low, but I'm trying to keep up the basics! I think it's really helping with keeping my head above the water. I'll be back!

great job grasshopper on two 40 minute days! woo hoo! keeping up with the basics at least keeps you from backsliding - well done! you too 1rarebeautifuldove - great work! Di - sorry you had to clean up after roommate, but am so glad she is gone. seemed like a struggle dealing with her, and i'm glad you can regroup from all of that! now you can get back focused on your own room and projects. hi cando! thanks for dropping in - so good to "see" you! what threads can we find you on these days? i did 20 yesterday on laundry and picking up. today i probably did 20-30 - dishes, swiping, recycle, and hanging up clothes. not really moving forward but guarding my gains and trying to keep them from backsliding - and when they do i clean up because it sure is easier to clean up a day's backsliding than 6 months' worth!

I've been getting a few things put away and thrown out every day. And better about gathering up clothes.
Today, I will get a bag of trash out. And I found some mail to sort.

Today, about 20 minutes is all I did.
unloaded, reloaded dishwasher swept kitchen, traffic areas in dining room, the area around the door in the living room and the traffic areas in my bedroom Swiped bathroom a bit. Made bed. Took out trash to the bin and put in a new bag. gathered up dirty clothes and towels and took them to the laundry room and separated them into hampers.
Just enough so that it didn't get worse.

I'm so glad you are guarding your gains, creativechaos And thanks for your help on chat! Good work @vyaspigeon! Seems like you are getting a lot of trash out. See you on chat! You have been doing great on dailies, mynicehome. I hope you are doing something pleasant out of town. Good work, @di! That's all you can do some days, just keep it from getting worse. I lost count of my maintenance minutes today. I vacuumed, did laundry, cleaned the kitchen, took care of some bills, changed the sheets. I cleaned out and vacuumed my car. That took about an hour. I'm not sure it counts as maintenance though. More like desqualoring. But from now on the car counts as maintenance and I am going to try to include it in the rotation. Work starts tomorrow. I'll try to keep up with 20 min daily, but I'm challenged on work days.

grasshopper - car definitely counts as maintenance! It's kind of like a portable room we take with us. Very important! I say that to me too! I have been getting a bit of trash and stuff out of my car and my purse. I swept a little bit and have been better about making my bed. Grasshopper, the way I see it, my house got this bad, because I would simply pile things on the tables, chairs, and other flat surfaces. Open a package and rather than put the trash in the bin, simply add it to what was already on the table or counter. Leave the empty bottle on the counter rather than rinse it and put it in the glass/plastic bin. Or if the wrapper fell on the floor from the table or desk leave it there and it blends in to the decor. More easily noticeable if there is nothing else on the floor. I am really hoping that if I can keep filling bags and boxes that the house will not feel so draining to me. I found 5 more things to donate and started a box with them.

woo hoo grasshopper! yes - car counts big time! you've been doing a lot and gaining ground. vyas - yes - to everything you said, and WTG for changing those patterns bit by bit. you are DOING it! i did my 20 min last night. today i took a bag of stuff to the thrift, and have a bag of books in car to take to used bookstore - hopefully he will want them. i'll continue guarding the small kitchen gains i've made... i'm not really progressing much but that's ok right now - as long as i don't make it worse! tonight's maintenance - i need to work on papers maintenance tonight. there are piles to file. that will take an hour at least.

yay creativechaos That's great getting stuff to the thrift store! I hope he wants the books too! Defending our gains is what so much of this is about! It's amazing how just leaving one clutter item somewhere "just for now" very soon attracts all of his friends and soon there is a clutter party there. (This just happened with my loveseat)

So far today, I brought the coats in from the car that got left there. I also put away the clean dishes. I got a few more things put away. And got some more trash from the car.

Jumping back into the fray...dailies are done. DS kept up fairly well while I was gone with the scooping, vacuumed once, but didn't get the nose prints. All caught up again. Nice to read about everyone's successes!

sorry folks; been awol, helping another friend, and sick. but i'm back on track with the dishes, even after spilling an entire pan of chicken grease all over the oven, the broiler drawer, front of oven and door, etc. am going to have to clean inside the oven tomorrow. took me 3 challenges just to get that cleaned up enough to do the final clean tomorrow. and did the dishes, emptied trash. i need to remind myself that i said i would do some paperwork; i'm way behind on that. not tonight though. it's late and i have an early morning tomorrow. yesterday i cleaned out the car front seat because i needed to haul a passenger! i have two boxes of stuff up in the apartment and more in the downstairs storage. but at least i can give someone a ride! unfortunately, through carelessness and negligence, i spilled a bunch of kelp meal all over the car (totally unnecessary - if i had sealed the inside bag it would all still be in there - lost over 2/3 of a pretty new box! - dam expensive stuff, all wasted! did not clean that up. just made the car so i could pick up this person who is presently carless for awhile. great reports, mynicehome and 1rarebeautifuldove - wtg on dailies done, and putting away!

Got the trash out, got the yucky food out of the fridge, been getting a lot of things put away. Doing better with dailies - making the bed, washing the dishes, getting the clothes into the hamper.

Today I am puttering around the house because I'm rather bored. I have unloaded dishes, washed a load of clothes, folded and put away a basket of clothes, tidied my dresser and desk a bit, and just generally worked on this and that. I have to say that it's nice not having anything you HAVE to do. It motivates me to do the little extras that get overlooked.
