H2H HAHA - looks like my little munchkin. I was surprised yesterday when we moved the guest bed off the base that I didn't have a 1000 cat toys under the bed - I'm thinking that means they have all been rolled down the stairs and are under the couch in the basement. Need to start crawling around with a yard stick and pulling toys out from everywhere. Maybe a future hot spot? Hot spot yesterday was getting out the recycling for garbage day. I had SO MANY empty boxes between holiday things, a few December birthdays, DH's travel and some electronic projects of his. Starting tearing them down and stacking them up and probably had 30 pieces of cardboard. Most of it small enough that when it was broken down - fit into our container. DH leaving today. Haven't picked my hot spot but will do something. Or make up for it this weekend PC

Posted on my blog last night that looking around my house - I have so many hot spots that I'm surprised this place isn't in flames Going to try and focus on one area at a time and list all the hot spots in that area and see how many I can power through. Probably not doing that until tomorrow. House looks like "who did it and ran" right now from DH leaving, etc. Today will probably be about minor pick-up and maybe a grocery store run. PC

Want to do at least four hot spots this weekend since I didn't do any on Thursday or Friday. Kitchen Island has five drawers and two cupboards. Relatively low on the "decision making scale". Might be a good place to start And, I could count it as 7 or as 1 depending on the rest of my weekend But first - have a lot of work to do just to get to hot spots. PC

H2H They are easy because they aren't the drawers you are describing I have those too. The ones in the island are semi organized flatware, knives and utensil drawers. One drawer has all our "tea". One cupboard has my oversized pots and pans that don't fit anywhere else. And, the other cupboard holds some cleaning supplies. That is why the island is low on the decision making scale. Whoever built this kitchen was very fond of drawers - 75% of the lower cabinetry are drawers of various sizes. Eventually I will get to the "junk" drawers but not today. Or, this weekend! I'm thinking of postponing that until tomorrow anyway and focusing on the master and guest rooms. All hot spots but not so bad that it will take all night or all month I have other rooms that will do that! PC

Shifted everything out of DM's room except for the linen laundry (that guest room is right next to the laundry room). I washed and dried three comforters and fourth is in the dryer. It takes so long to dry a king size but thankful it fits in my washer/dryer. DH bought the washer/dryer without me and my only criteria was that they hold king size linens. Cleaned out the closet in the other guest room and moved our ethnic clothes back into it. Still have a bit of work left to do in there but almost done. All I did in our bedroom was put on clean linens. Have a bunch of wiping down to do in there tomorrow. For tomorrow: Finish our room and the guest room. Clean out the cupboard in the guest bathroom so that I can move stuff in there from the bedroom. Office? Night! PC

As usual, really good one day in a row Will take stock for catching up a bit on my plan during this three day weekend. However, I did put out a very large pick-up for Salvation Army yesterday. That was a huge hot spot that is cleared out. Dancing Kitties!

Very doubtful I will catch up to "one hotspot a day" as was my plan for January Yesterday, I arranged for an unexpected hot spot to be cleared out. A brick wall that was hiding some equipment/electrical in the backyard. Whoever installed it put it too close to the equipment and it was all loose brick and was dangerous. Looks a 100% better now and bonus - people can actually work that need to work there. Such a simple thing - took one text to get it removed - why have we been suffering for over three years with it? Three evenings - 2 weekend days/evenings left for house tasks before my DM visits. And, I think I'm committing one weekend day to the office - I have to clean and organize a 2 drawer lateral file. It is imperative to close down 2017. But that counts as a hot spot PC

Worked 8 hours at the office yesterday and did nothing but filing. 2014, 2015 and 2016 are DONE. They are organized, sorted, and filed where they belong for all eternity. 2017 is sorted in loose categories - will finish tomorrow. Have tons more to do but that was a huge weight lifted. PC

Caught up on my linen laundry yesterday. For once in who knows how long - all my sheets are clean! All my comforters are clean! All the kitty blankets are clean! It was a big hot spot because it took up half the closet in the guest room while waiting its turn. Closet is now available for DM to use. PC

A few more hot spots tackled: At office: All data entry caught up. A financial "comparison" over 7 years completed. 2017 filed and waiting for the final tax paperwork. At home: guest bedroom DONE. Guest bathroom DONE (big linen cupboard). Linens continue to be caught up. Removed a bunch of plants from outside. Scheduled the removal of some other stuff. Hung a few things in the guest room - actually looks cozy and "in use" now. Cleared off the office floor - HUGE hot spot. Cleaned out two shelving units in the office (hold about 10 small fabric bins). Definitely didn't get 31 projects done this month but not a bad showing. Tomorrow is another day according to Scarlett O'Hara. PC

Expecting to be home most of March. Plus gave up a lot of my glowy addiction for Lent so some extra time on my hands. Cleaners are here today and garbage/recycling pick-up was this morning so it seems like a "fresh" start to work on all the hot spots/hidden clutter after the house has been "refreshed" regarding cleaning. I have a bunch of clutter pockets in our closet and master bath. And, the office has a PILE in the corner not to mention I can barely close the roll-top and all the stuff that is in the chair nook of the roll-top. Always something to do.

March hot spots done:
1) Cleaned out and put away stash and dash in DM's room 2) Cleaned fridge - removing drawers, bins - the whole works! 3) Medicine drawer 4) Home office - multiple hot spots - big stash and dash in corner as well as desk top and chair nook - lots of filing 5) Storage room - removed all garbage, regular recycling and cardboard - grouped like with like 6) Cleaned a bunch of stashed/dashed linens that were in a closet and put where they belong 7) stack of various stuff on/in the entertainment center 8) cleaned master bedroom
Office and other: 1) taxes done - all relevant material filed - three sets - ours, company, DMs 2) Cleaned out and organized all of 2017 and got everything set up for 2018 3) Cleaned out a lateral file drawer of loose filing 4) Cleaned out two large accordion files of stuff that came over in a move (2 years ago) and was gathered up from an office that hadn't been touched in four years.
Amazing how the "glowy" addiction impacts my ability to do anything. So much easier to stay on top of things when you don't watch a lot of TV or play any games. I've read A LOT too. Found Prime on Amazon so reading unlimited for $10 a month as long as I don't have more than 10 books checked out at a time. Ideal for my cozy mystery addiction!

Bumping this - I have roughly 11-12 weeks with no definite plans besides regular work. I'm sure that any hot spots that I cleaned in the proceeding three years are back along with all their friends! See if I can start some good habits. PC

I have three threads going (this being one of them) that I'm going to try and post at least once a week EVEN if I have nothing to say For Lent I gave up the glowy things and decided to make a permanent break. No more shows that are repeats - except Avengers stuff - I really enjoy those no matter how many times I've watched them! Deleted all the games on my laptop, iPad and iPhone. I've been reading a lot more which I consider a "good" habit. Even with the glowy things gone - I'm not miraculously spending all my time de-cluttering, clearing out or just cleaning. Really odd - I thought that would happen - who knew I have to get off my lassie butt? I don't have anyone visiting (overnight) until late July. I'm not traveling (that I know about) until mid-August. It is so hot during the summer that most of our social circle takes off for various places. So I have a good portion of time to make some changes. A few months back - I divided the house into five zones that (silly me) thought I could do one week per zone. When I woke back up to reality - I decided that I would just work on that zone until I finished - then move on to the next dice roll. The first roll was bathrooms and laundry room. Still haven't started anything yet. I think that was 2 months ago. And, I've lost my list of what was included with each dice roll. I also wanted to finish up some "pantry" type closets around the kitchen. I worked on two (both probably need a refresh) and still have one to do. First though is "baseline" - I'm reluctant to start any projects until I'm at "baseline". Translation: laundry and dishes under control. Clutter is all PEEPed. I have a very busy weekend but will try to get back to "baseline" and to review the two "done" pantry closets. Then maybe start actual hot spots next week. PC

Trying for at least a once a week posting on this thread: Still not at baseline. Last weekend was super busy. Any spare energy - I've been trying to keep on top of some laundry and some dishes. This is my goal weekend - hoping for 50%! 1) PEEP tonight along with a bit of laundry. Laundry throughout the weekend. 2) Work on DH's side of the master closet - he's out of town next week and I want to have his side done and can finish mine into next week if needed. Basically, I just dump everything on the guest bed by categories and make him go through it. Then I put back the keepers and bag up the donations. So, all he has to do is review. If I actually made him go through it while in drawers and on hangers - he would get rid of one thing. This annoys him but he still does it. I tell him you can gripe all you want just keep moving. 3) Go to DM's sometime and move furniture in her guest room and get out all of the donations. 4) Big clean in our master bedroom. Because we have a large bathroom and closet - there actually isn't much in the bedroom. Cat furniture, trunk, bed and two end tables. That's it. Just needs a good clean because as you can tell cats are in there full time. Removed a bunch of donations yesterday - a bit from three different rooms as well as the donation box I was working on. I'm trying for Thursday drop offs until I run out of stuff to donate (sometime in the year 2525). PC
