good going on the paints creativechaos . I find it very difficult to get rid of any art supplies. ( , as if it's ever easy to get rid of ANYTHING!) This past trash pickup, I finally got rid of a large piece of plastic sheeting (old, used pool cover) that I had picked up and planned to use in the garden.. maybe 3 years ago. The sun was getting to it, and I had been intending to dump it a long time ago. So, the bin was nearly empty, so out it went! Adios!

Cheering you all on! BetsyMarie great job on getting rid of those shorts. They may have been perfectly good shorts for some one else but not for you. CC, great job on tossing those sweats! Life is too short and space is too tight to hang onto clothes we hate! This thread us so inspiring to me.
Two weeks ago, i sorted through my bins of gardening stuff. Mostly it was decorative stuff but all stuff i had deemed not suitable for shed storage when i moved in here five years ago. Finally had to accept that i will never have a garden at this place and it was doomed to stay in the totes. So i let it go, along with the dream/hope of having a beautiful garden. The recipients were very grateful and it will be put to good use. It was hard to get rid of things i loved but even harder to let go of the garden dreams.

I need to get rid of more stuff. Tomorrow I've scheduled a special trash pick up for larger sized items. We get 2 free such pick ups each year. Wish I had more stuff, but the year is about to end. Thus far I've put out on the street: -2 large barrels for collecting rainwater, that were too difficult to use. -2 old glass shower doors that have been in a hallway for a year or so -2 old computer chairs way past their prime. Like Noah's Ark, pairs of things about to embark on a journey. Also rolled up and tossed into the trash a pair of shorts made out of stiff material that I've always hated. Going out in the regular trash this morning were a few things from the fridge that were, well, ready to go.

Three sweaters and two scarves. They don’t fit and I hadn’t realized how either shabby they were, bulky or no longer my style. We have a rec room and we technically aren’t supposed to leave things there for other tenants so we do it sneakily when managers aren’t within eyeshot . It’s a “leave on take one” type of thing. I take food I know I’ll eat and leave clothes and Knick knacks👌

so nice to see this thread active again! WTG everyone on all your releases and discards - paid part of a debt i've owed since last winter/spring to a friend who did some tech computer work for me. i will make another payment to him soon. i hate owing money, and this friend has been patient and never mentioned it but it's been bugging ME. one more payment to go!
yaaay on the "big trash" items OUT, BetsyMarie! you too, catacombs on the clothing releases! eatingbonbons, i especially loved that you chucked the "what's the use" attitude - that's a big one - and the yrs of dust ha ha - i represent that! remind me to tell you my "lightning ball" story someday! (dust-related)

This may not be monumental, but when clearing part of a kitchen shelf, I tossed a few things that usually would have been difficult for me. I normally would have felt obligated to clean the containers for either later use, or recycling. Not today. Out they went as is. A bottle of perfectly good vinegar that I would never use, an old bottle of never-opened mustard, some onion powder that had gotten caked, and a puffy can of tomatoes. Not too many, but a reflection of a more cut-throat attitude. It felt good. I will do more. Earlier I also took out the collected house trash, plus some things from the yard. I totally filled the can. Pick up isnt until next Tuesday.

What I got rid of yesterday and today:
-A set of dishes given to friends 'populating' a new residence, plus some miscellaneous kitchen utensils. -An old, torn cat bed into the trash. It had been well-used by the kitties -a very full 95 gallon bin of green waste, and a full 32 gallon trash can.
Anything that leaves the house is great!

Hello and hope you don't mind my stepping in gals? What a great work you all have been doing getting rid of things, letting them go. Today I got rid of: An old basket A broken pot A worn out bag Lots of food from the fridge (in the weekend I also got rid from food from my parent's fridge, so I found it easier to...continue with mine, does this ever happen to you? )

I got rid of 4 dead plants in their pots An old underwear item (I had to rip it apart just to break the resistance). I will try to toss out some more items today, definitely worth a try.

I got rid of: 1 kitchen utensil 4 kitchen towels 1 pot with a dead plant 1 pillow 1 pillow case
#In order to be able to make it, I make quick decisions, to help with my endless questioning and it seems to work better. #I also carry the bag with the items right away outside the house, into the bin.

Hello Nael_C I am right with you on this subject today. I got rid of a torn pair of shorts and old underwear with the elastic all stretched out. Also I am rethinking: some of my donations may need to be in the trash category.

I got rid of an old T-shirt. I have been away from home for a few hours and then had to help my son with cleaning, and cook for my father, so not much decluttering and getting rid of things. But I will go through some drawers later in the day and hope to manage to get rid of more stuff. I will update as I do.
