Oh YEEHAW pardner! I just can't wait for that barn clean-out! (Definite first response of aversion here! ) I'll fake it 'til I make it!
Actually I'm hoping to get that done in May (last year's clean-out was late due to very wet conditions). But if I do, I'll be doing the Great Toolshed Clearout in June. We're talking goat trails in there.
def6, how our immediate knee-jerk responses of attachment or aversion forerun the moment can be seen very clearly using the analogy of a car. The feeling of aversion is using the brakes; the feeling of attraction is using the gas. The steering wheel is our potential for intention and direction and the person behind the wheel...well, that's us, the driver. Does our aversion cause us to slam on the brakes and create potential disruptions and things flying all around? Or do we hit the gas and in the thrill of the acceleration lose all mindfulness of everything else around? How good a driver are we? Are we always in control?
How did work go on the front porch?

Thank you mynicehome I will be ready for you in May, as I now have a barn to clean out. It is full of old rusty things( and I'm sure creepy crawly things.) So far I have found an old rusty wagon wheel that I want to convert into a chandelier of sorts. Sign me up for the toolshed challenge as well. (crawlies in there too) The garage, well...it's a work in progress. I have dug deeply in there, it is far from where I want it to be, but I feel I'm in too deep to stop now. The stuff on the porch can now be placed in the garage and then the porch can be cleaned and used for more than a dumping ground. The car example is one of the best analogies I have ever heard. I'm going to print that one out, for it closely resembles a lot that I need to remember about me. You have unbelievable insight, Thank you.

What a great thread, def6! i love the insights and your good practical knowledge and actions! this is going onto my favorite threads, with bookmark! maybe i can join you and Hollyhock in the balcony/porch cleanout challenge, and while you and mynicehome are doing the barn and toolshed challenge, i can substitute "storage units" for that. i love the car analogy too! inspirational, hopeful, insightful thread. Thanks!

Thank you creativechaos and It's no fun without you...please join us. I learned how to do the Virginia Reel last year as a reward for working. This year I want an actual barn dance. Attachment Deleted
