Good morning!
I'm running out of garbage can space
Def, amazing work in the garage--what day is garbage pick up?
Puppybox, you have a book donation bin nearby? That's excellent--that has helped me so much, knowing that I'm offering the books I'm giving up to someone who might want them. What kind of books do you have?
I have mid-day work in about 90 minutes, and I'm still eating breakfast. Oh well. I need to figure out how to raise my productivity level, I have more spare time now and should be making great strides on my remaining work.
TO DO:
Finish breakfast Clean up from breakfast Scoop litter pans Pigeon care

Good morning! I do believe I never got on here yesterday unless I'm even more confused than I think Things are "stable" here and Marble is so much better. It's weird .... because I was ready to take her to the vet almost Monday ... but then she threw up and I think it may have been (most of her trouble) the hairball. She's like a different cat -- she's eating her soft food again and all around seems much better. I am so relieved. Diane -- oh it must be so challenging caring for your senior client - believe me it is just as exasperating with a guardianship and a blood relationship -- I don't know if anyone would believe me but it truly is. Things are better now but my Mom put me thru a lot in 2015 & 2016! The added element of the animals has to make it EXTRA challenging. I myself have had trouble extracting myself from jobs or situations too because of feeling responsible. Thank goodness life always seems to hand me a change of situation that makes it possible to move on! Also, there is a lot less guilt if you come to the place where you "have" to leave one situation to take care of someone else or do something else!! Not sure any of this makes sense - I just relate to how hard it is to continue to help a difficult person!!!!!!! Scholar -- I'm so sorry for your loss of a family member. ***************** My big accomplishment so far: * Mowed the back yard - not without pain but I did it * showered * tended to the little Tony lookalike kitty - he was hungry today and wolfed down kitten food. I feel I have to do something .... DH says it's up to me. He would need to be checked for microchip (he's about 9 months and un-neutered) tested for illness, and shots and neutered .... I am trying to clear my head and find my way. He has consistently visited since 2 days after Tony died. He follows me around. I'm both heartbroken and loving him already. Yesterday he wanted to come into the house. It's a long commitment and often expensive. It's way to soon but he keeps choosing me. The universe may have known I'd help one that looks like my Tony ... that makes me feel horrible ... what about all the other cats in the neighborhood without a home. I have to let this get filtered thru my highest wisdom but if I wait too long something could happen to that sweet little kitty. We had thought maybe his name was Frankie as we heard someone calling that name ... but I do not know. I don't like that name for an orange kitty. Oh my God I'm toast if I'm trying to name him. * emailed a thank you * tended and sat with Marble.

mylittlescholar sorry for the sad family news. dtesposito Chris said "exasperating" Yup. Well, I'm having trouble buckling down and doing anything. What else is new??? I simply have to get to work finishing what I have to do with my mom's taxes. I'm taking a walk with DH, which is also important, but after that I'm going to have to use my timer and get on with it. Later! .............................. I'm back from the walk. I did 5 min of kitchen cleanup, next will be 5 min on taxes. Then 10 min in the kitchen and 10 min on taxes. Etc. Will check in later.

Chris If Hubby says it is up to you that means it is OK with him I'm incredibly biased so take whatever i say with a grain of salt but I think in the long run you will have fewer regrets if you adopt him than if you don't. It isn't replacing any cat you recently lost - you just have a lot of kitty love and mothering to give and this little guy sounds like he needs you as much as you need him. And frankly a feral cat that is trusting of humans/dependent on humans and left outside - it makes the cat more vulnerable when they lose their street smarts. My two cents - we all know what I would do says the kitty mom of 7. Edited to add - but you have to do what is best for yourself and your family - and what works for me may not work for you. PC

Good afternoon dusty, Chris and phoenixcat! what about all the other cats in the neighborhood without a homeChris, you can't adopt ALL the other cats in the neighborhood. You CAN adopt one cat. Sometimes there's an immediate connection between a person and an animal, I've felt it often--I love them all, but there are some that strike a chord. Maybe because this cat reminds you of Tony, or maybe not--maybe there's just something special about him. That night I walked out on my back porch, when I never go out on the back porch at night, during the first cold snap of the year, and found a pigeon, of all things, that needed help--I couldn't ignore that. Sometimes the timing just happens, and the decision is made for you. I agree with Phoenixcat, you have to take everything into consideration. Although it sounds like you might have already made up your mind... Diane

Oh...and I meant to say, I'm sure you've heard the "starfish on the beach" story, it comes up often when shelter workers start to feel burnt out. Not being able to help them all, doesn't mean you shouldn't try to help however many you can.

I'm home and have eaten lunch. I'm not sure what my afternoon will be like. My senior client feels absolutely fine, and yet she has finally called the doctor. I said--why today, and not yesterday? She said--I hadn't really thought about what you said, that there could be something happening slowly from hitting my head. Okay...so she called the doctor's office, and a nurse came on the line and asked her what day it was today, and who the president was! Apparently she answered correctly, so instead of telling her to go to the ER they made a doctor's appointment for her this afternoon at 5:00. She's checking with the relief walker to see if she can come later in the evening, and if she can't, I'll have to do the walk. Also, I had a request to look after the dog visitors for an hour in the late afternoon--so if the walk doesn't happen, the visit probably will. In the meantime I'll straighten things up in case the dogs do come over. Diane

OK, just setting the timer for 5 minutes got me started. I worked on the taxes until I got the medical expense part done.
Next, on to charitable contributions. I'm not going to itemize all the 50 cent items from the house that I dropped off at Goodwill last year. One year when there were a whole lot of items like that, it took me hours and the accountant charged extra for having to enter it all in their software!

Baby steps dusty!
Ohblondie, wishing you energy for tonight.
I got the apartment dogproofed, they are definitely coming but between 4 and 5, that will mean I can still do the dog walk after if I need to.
I will now sweep/vacuum around the bird cages.

Moving along. All there is to do now is the household employee stuff from before my mom moved into the A.L.F. Plus double-checking everything and making some copies.
I'm going to have some coffee now, and get dinner started. The accounting office is open until 8 p.m. tonight, so I might actually get this over with today! If not, their actual deadline is tomorrow.

Dusty, you're doing great!
The dogs are here, I think I'll work on file cabinet paper, that will let me sit in one place for a while so they don't keep jumping up to follow me.

I'm working on a load of laundry, and I took several bags of garbage and recycling out. I went to get the condo building mail and my own mail, and I opened and took care of it.
Now I'll eat dinner, then get ready for bed.

Thanks for the encouragement, Diane!
My part of my mom's taxes is done. Everything's ready to go for tomorrow morning, when I'll be able to drive over there in the daylight, feeling fresher. I also have something to pick up at the library which is near the accountant, so I'll be able to take my time and stop there, too.
Now I've got to catch up a little on the normal, everyday stuff.
To Do --Kitchen cleanup (Done) --Start Mom's laundry (Done) --Some routine, current paperwork (Done)
Then I'll get ready for bed.
