I ordered a free "Clean out" kit in April from an on-line consignment store called Thred up . They sent me a shipping bag with a prepaid postage label attached . I filled the bag with donatable clothing and sent it off with my Postman. My thinking was... what do I have to lose?, even if they reject them all they are paying for the shipping, they will donate them and will send me a receipt for the donation, I will have less clutter, everyone wins.
I just checked the Thred Up website, I have made $38.00 already if I want to cash out now. Really?

Thanks for the update! I ordered my kit, then hesitated after reading some less favorable reviews.

I'm glad you were so pleasantly surprised by your experience! In various places online, I've seen a lot of complaints about ThredUp - but those were mostly from people who expected to make a ton of cash from their designer duds. Sunk cost fallacy and all that... but it sounds great for those of us who just want to get rid of stuff and don't care how much money we'd get back for it, if at all. At least there's a chance for a little something, as a bonus on top of clearing out our space - which is the true prize!

This is what I picked out from Thred up website. It is a Worthington satchel. I can't tell if it is Pleather or leather. (It doesn't matter anyway because it is post consumer) But even with this purchase and the 5.99 shipping and I still have some credit left. I needed to throw away my old purse that I used to death. I think this will be a good trade off. Attachment Deleted

I just decluttered in my hall closet but it was difficult for me to decide which articles of clothing to keep and which to give because they all looked really good. So I got on Thred up website and found that they have changed to printing your own free shipping label that they email to you and you provide your own bag or box (maximum 30 pounds each package. They also charge a processing fee that they did not charge before (I think about 13.00 per 30 pound package... that they will deduct from what money you make. I'm not clear on what happens if nothing sells...Do you owe them money then for this processing fee. Not sure.
