I have never been a member of any type of board before SS/SOS. If I were to post a new thread..(I think that's what it's called would I be able to delete within a couple of days? I am in the midst of a situation that I would love to get some feedback on, but it is pretty specific and I am worried I would "out" myself by leaving the post up for too long. Thanks!

Well, as on SS, you can edit your posts. And you can edit them down to nothing.
The main problem with that is that you can't edit the replies to your post, too, and if someone has quoted you, your original text is in that person's reply.
You can also send PMs to the mods to ask them to remove the topic.
The main problem with that is that we won't necessarily get to it immediately. A secondary problem with that is that your topic may actually be really interesting and some of the replies may be generally useful, and worthy of keeping so other people can find them.
In general, you should try not to write stuff that would identify you personally if it were printed in your local paper. Can you make the details less specific?
For example: Instead of saying that Hurricane Zelda washed a 1000-ft ocean liner into your front yard, say that you have a large amount of metal storm debris.
Is that possible?
