This is my first visit here and I found this where to be eye-opening and motivating. Yes, having a simple phrase will prove to be priceless for me and a gentle reminder easily remembered. I look forward to exploring and meeting new people... see you on the Boards!
Submit to the process... Relax into the process...
Yes, I can do this.

This site is so large I get overwhelmed reading. A few posters have caught my attention and rather than trying to skip all around I decided to pick one in a private blog and follow her journey from the beginning. On December 18, 2008 dayeanu referred to the thread *Submit to the Process* by Arid and said it should be required reading here. Of course I had to find it and read immediately. There is so much wisdom there, thank you all!

I’m new here and struggling with motivation to keep at the tasks I know I need to do to get my home back to a better condition. I think I definitely struggle with feeling that I get discouraged when I consider how little progress results from the effort I put in. Even when I know I made progress, I sort of settle for that and want to avoid what is left to do. So starting now, I’m going to approach this as a process that I do in fact need to submit to. Thank you all!

i think this thread needs to go in favorites or get punned somewhere. I bookmarked long ago but with no activity its niw on page 16 of my bookmarks. Funnt i as just thinking about demand resistance when this thread popped up. It's already in favorite threads. Favorite threads is just a list of highlighted threads of the main Squalor Board, -- a list which appears in a subsection. When anyone replies to one of the Favorite Threads, it automatically bumps that particular thread to the top of the main Squalor Board. But this thread itself can always be found listed in Favorite Threads, regardless of how long ago the last reply was.

Thanks Lion. I should probably look at the favorites section more often, its not just for new members.

"shall I 'Surrender to the wiser course of action,' or shall I 'surrender to the stupid course of action?' " When put like that, it's so easy to keep perspective.

I couldnt figure out how to quote and write a post in one, so I did two. THIS.THIS. This is the words I was looking for at the beginning of last year when I started to surrender to the wiser course of action. It took a year of choosing that path more often than not for me to really start seeing and feeling true change. For me, the more progress that happens, the easier it is to choose the wiser course.

i'm so happy to see this thread pop up again - and for your added wisdom of the cumulative good impact of each time of choosing the wiser path, peaceseeker - and how that gets easier, the more you do it. Arid has helped me so many times by helping me remember "progress, not perfection" and to just keep going.
