Please join in for a two-month challenge to get some projects done! They can be decluttering, maintenance, personal care, creative projects--whatever will make a difference in your life. Beginning date September 1st (or whenever you decide to join in) and end date October 31st, just in time for Halloween!
Then come back frequently and report how you're doing.
Good luck everyone!

Okay, I'm going to try again!
This time I know I can't do any open-ended goals, they don't work. I will think of concrete things that have a beginning and an end!

For once - I think I have two months at home. And, DH has "mostly" two months at home. 1) Establish a routine for grocery shopping and cooking. 2) Complete my hanging project at DM's and home. 3) Establish a regular work week with the only time off during the day is for outside appointments that can't be done on nights and weekends. thanks for starting this thread again, dtesposito. i am not good with open-ended goals either. sometimes they all seem open ended... maybe the trouble for me is breaking big things down into smaller steps. 1) i have two art shows upcoming: one is a Halloween/Days of the Dead show in Oct. The other is in Dec. this means i need to devote some structured time around making some new pieces and finishing up some things i started. that's an open-ended goal i know, but i need to keep reminding myself how time is flying! so goal number 1 is working toward art shows. 2) build shelving in 2nd small storage so i can get things off the floor. good bye art display room for now. it's the only way i can work toward getting out of the OTHER small storage unit. that goal has a beginning and end. 3) clear off small kitchen counter so i have some room to do... ANYTHING pertaining to food prep... and work at defending it once it's cleared. 4) back to thistle battling! going to try the cut and poison method again, using vinegar, epsom salts, and blue dawn. there are so many goals...

Hi Phoenixcat! Two months without extensive traveling obligations sounds great.
CC, nice to see you here! I hope you start with your smaller kitchen counter goal because that's one that will give you immediate good results. Baby steps!
I still haven't decided on my goals, but I will soon.

OK; not sure I'm up to the task but will take a stab at it. Diane, I'm with you, I will need a *small* finite concrete goal. There is so much to be done around here that it's hard to pick!
I think one of the worst areas I procrastinate about is the kitchen. Especially when it's in the most horrible shape that it is in right now. So I will start there. I really need, want, have to have a clean kitchen, with everything where it belongs, with all my appliances in working order. Without piles on the floor to trip over. Without gross smells (and other things...ewww). So I think this will be the plan:
The above is the vision which is also the end goal. To get there I need to dedicate at least 15 min every day to working in the kitchen, even if it's just washing up a few dishes (so it doesn't get gross again / still/ worse).
And a little road map. I like making lists that I can come back and cross off. It makes me feel like I really did something even if in reality there isn't a lot of visual difference. So here's the parts of the kitchen to work on. Every single area needs to be decluttered, steam cleaned, disinfected ect.
In no particular order: counter left of sink 2 drawers under it 2 cabinets under it declutter plastic food containers; I have too many, they are falling out of the cabinet and I would like to move away from plastic for food microwave shelf under microwave under kitchen sink: very dark very scarey area bay window right of sink counter right of sink 4 drawers under it 4 cabinets under it open shelves on wall rolling cart stove counter right of stove 4 drawers under it 4 cabinets under it bookcase more open shelves Hoosier buffet big bay window fridge #1 (my food) fridge #2 (eggs and veg for sale) floor in front of sink floor in front of stove floor in front of cabinet right of stove floor in front of hoosier floor in front of buffet storage shelves
I think that is pretty much every area of the kitchen. A big list but maybe if I can concentrate on just one item at a time it will work.

So life is crazy right now but I did do 15 in the kitchen and collected some items into a crate, washed dishes and threw away some trash. Called amnesty on some recycling. Can see a few square inches on the counter to the right of the sink.

Hello 7, glad you made your way over here.
Magda, I know you're working on your challenge #1, you post about it every day in the work along thread.
Mary, considering the awful heat you're dealing with you're doing great.
I still haven't decided on a specific challenge for this thread--I'm currently working on clearing out room for another grow light on swampy's challenge, but I'm almost finished with that one. I'm pretty sure when I decide they will be cleaning challenges instead of decluttering. Cleaning is really hard for me to do, but a cleaning challenge can be specific, with an end goal. At least, an end until the next week or month or whatever--but I need to start somewhere.

Hi Diane. You are cranking away on the other challenge thread
I have done 12 days of my energy audit challenge of doing five things a day. That is 60 things done! Still need to do more but good progress
Just read my last quote on the tree situation. I hope to pick and inform a winner tomorrow
I am not charging anything!!
Lots to do. I’ll just keep going.

I'm in! I'll be thinking of a specific goal I would like to meet... OK, I know my Challenge Goal! I really, really need more furniture to put things places. What I've got came with the place and it's pretty awful. I need at least one bookcase very much, and a dresser that can actually store all the clothing I've got (and do wear)! I also adore those popular "cube" shelves with cube boxes you place in them where you can get stuff out of the way. It all looks so nicely streamlined and tidy, I WANT ONE. So I want to BUDGET for what I need to truly have a place for all of my belongings that I do use, want and need. My Challenge Goal is to choose which bedroom set and storage method items I want to purchase, and start saving for those. I am very, very low income but I'm getting very tired of not having the right or enough furniture.

I think I'm going to join in, but I'm only going to set one goal. That is to have dishes done at bedtime at least 5 out of 7 days. Kiddos set a weekly personal care type goal, and then earn a treat on Friday after school if they reach it. Maybe I'll do the same.
To start with, since it's Wednesday, I'll just shoot for having a clean sink today and tomorrow. Then I'll start the official goal tracking Friday evening.
It's small, maybe, but I always overwhelm myself with these challenges.
