Hello PJ! How is the new house coming along? One goal is the best way to start.
Oxen, your goal is going to be fun--finding new furniture! I have some of those cloth cube things, but I don't have the furniture to hold the cubes--they are just sitting on some shelves. I love them though, they look so neat compared to just throwing things on the shelves. And the open handle makes it easy to take them down from the shelf when you need something.
Mary, I have also made a LONG list of baby steps to complete a goal--I love lists.
What I've decided to do for these 2 month challenges is use them to work one room at a time, on finishing up all my rooms. Over the last few years, as I've been decluttering, I will concentrate in one room for a while, and manage to get it looking good. At the same time, the other rooms do NOT look good, either because I'm spending all my effort on the one targeted room, or else because I move stuff to declutter one room into another room.
I recently worked in swampy's activity challenge to declutter enough to get a plant light in my second bedroom. I was so inspired by what I was doing in that room that I did a ton of decluttering in there--it now looks really good.
Instead of just moving to the next room and junking up the first room again, I'm determined to work on room #2 while keeping room #1 in good shape. So for the rest of this 2-month challenge (6 weeks left, now) I'll be working on the living room. It's the largest room, it's where I spend the most time, and it makes me feel good when it's clean because it's the room someone sees if they come to my door. But at the same time, I'll be working to keep the "plant room" clean also. It's time for me to learn to focus on more than one narrow area at a time. And this will also get rid of the last of the excess stuff that keeps moving around to various places.
I've made a baby-step list, breaking down the room into a lot of areas, and including dusting, sweeping, drawer sorting and mopping besides decluttering. Some of the decluttering jobs will be the kind where I will have to either get rid of something, or else get rid of something in another room to make space, so it will be a challenge.
Luckily I'm off all day tomorrow, so hopefully I can get a good start.
Diane

Have tossed/donated 23 items!
That's fantastic, 7! I glad it's helping--challenges sometimes enable me to do things I never thought I could accomplish!

Energy audit is done! Did lots of work to get house ready for it. Cleaned up / organized basement and DD room. I now have a repair coming from the audit today. I also need to put things back in DD’s closet which had to be emptied for audit to access attic.
I did walk every day. But now sidelined by injury.

This challenge with end-goal in mind looks great!!! Yes, I am going to join in. I have been doing Unswamping 's activity challenge too as well as chipping away on everything. Also, it has been tricky to try to even make a list of what I want to accomplish. Halloween is my dad's birthday (he's in Heaven now, but still it is his birthday). So for that reason the day is special to me.
magda great job on not charging anything. Glad energy audit is taken care of, and the repair? and that you got a closet organized! Good stuff!!!
7 - great job on the tossing of things
Diane - keeping rooms tidy while working on another is a fantastic goal.
oxen - so glad you are getting new furniture that is exciting!!!
To anyone I missed, great job and I am cheering you on!!
I will need to think of something that I can focus on. Something with an end. One goal might be a good thing. I did one goal today. Shred and sort the 4 folders of old papers. One was left in tact, 2018 tax stuff. One is important house stuff. The other two were almost completely shredded or tossed.
See if all the completed sheep will go into this one decorative box. That is a good place to start.

Yay! For everyone’s successes! I got 4 big garbage bags filled and in my trunk. Interesting to note that I actually like the clothes I am keeping better now Maybe easier to put outfits together when I can see what I have

Couple weeks left: 1) Establish a routine for grocery shopping and cooking. Started this - doing more planned shopping at Costco which surprises me but they have some excellent fruit and frozen selections - main trick is not to take DH as he wanders a bit too much in the candy aisle I've been making my dump soup frequently which is a healthy meal ready to go. 2) Complete my hanging project at DM's and home. Nothing done yet but will probably be at DM's for a few hours this weekend. And, I may pull mine back out of the closet 3) Establish a regular work week with the only time off during the day is for outside appointments that can't be done on nights and weekends. Been trying to schedule appointments early AM. Some progress - figured out that my office is so cold that it is hard to work in there. Not sure what to do about it because everyone else on my circuit burns up when I turn the air down. I already have one vent covered - will cover the only other one and see if that helps. How's everyone else doing?
