Good morning ohblondie! You have a 3-day work week too, hopefully the day will go by fast. I finished all of my bathroom shelf project except for 5-10 minutes more putting things away that didn't belong in the bathroom in the first place. For example, I found a tube of superglue--why was it in the bathroom? Some needles that I use to give cat fluids, when I have a totally different storage place for those. Etc. Next: Start new kitchen garbage and paper recycling bags Start pile of recycling in DR since I can't bring it outside for at least one more day Clean out mailing supply cabinet in plant room Deal with mail from last few days Diane

Good morning! I was up bright and early today as DD went back to school- she is very organized and was ready. Praying she has a great day. Am pretty sure she will Packed her a lunch Packed me a lunch Fed cats Made bed Put away clean dishes Got ready for work Arrived at a good time-a little early Bought some healthy snacks for a team kick off meeting today The cats were not used to earlier wake up. They ate but then settled in for naps. when I kissed them goodbye, neither one moved a muscle or acknowledged me in any way I think I need a new phone I dropped this one and cracked the screen back in July. I have a screen protector on it but it has been getting hard to type. For example, I have to hit the o key multiple times for it to work

Good morning everyone. Trying to find some normalcy while living among towers of totes and billions of bags. I can see how hoarding directly affects a person's state of mind. I don't have claustrophobia, but being surrounded by mounds of trashbags full of clothing (some stacked at least waist-level) and towers of totes that are stacked at least 5 feet high, it feels like everything is closing in on you. I know that my situation is temporary, and that after the second round of extermination on Sept 10th, we will be able to unpack and there will be open space again. BUT, for a hoarder that lives like this as their regular way of life, I can see how a person would just give up and surrender to it, because it must seem impossible. When you have no place to move around, and not one open space to use for sorting through the mountains of stuff...I empathize with anyone who is living in that type of situation. Honestly, I get physically tired from just looking at everything surrounding me. I can imagine that it takes a huge amount of inner strength to stay focused on going though just ONE thing (box, bag, tote) without looking at all of it and just saying "forget it". When we are able to unpack, I have no plans to rush it, because I plan on a massive purging, and then there's the cold hard fact that my body can't do a lot at once. @ dtesposito Way to go on all the work you've done already! I had a bottle of superglue in my medicine cabinet in the bathroom, too. All I can think of is that it ended up in there during a crisis "stash and dash" at some point. @ ohblondie So sorry you didn't sleep well. It's hard for me to get moving after a night of poor sleep. Way to go on making your coffee and lunch. I hope you find your email...I'm assuming you know how to sort by date, sort by Sender, sort by Subject, etc? Hopefully with the right search filters you will find it without too much of a headache. @ magda WOW congrats on all that work you've done! Sorry about your phone. Maybe the screen is under warranty? I keep a case on mine but it's fallen a few times and I'm always scared to look! To everyone else, hope you're having a good day. I hope that you and yours are safe from the Hurricane. I'll be in and out of the SOOS chatzy. I have a pinchy ouchy feeling in my shoulder and neck so I am going to give myself a break to lie down on the bed and watch ONE episode of a tv show. I should be back in to the chat room around 12:30 Eastern, USA. DONE shower lotion fold laundry and put away coffee fed/watered catface took meds ironed clothes for husb sent request for maintenance UP NEXT rest these aching bones bank accounts update spreadsheet pay bills

Diane - I have a four day work week this week.Oh that's right, magda took an extra vacation day. Well, the weekend will still be here in 3 days! I hope you'll be able to plan your retirement in a couple of years, ohblondie
Magda, I'm sure your daughter will be fine at school. Anyone who can perform regularly on stage has to be outgoing enough to feel comfortable with new groups of people, and generally kids who are outgoing do okay. It's the introverts who are the most uncomfortable in school, I think, and I speak from experience. Good morning SetMeFree--so you only have one week to wait before you can unpack. Did you ever find out the results of the inspections in the other apartments? Your perspective on living among stacks of things is valuable--those of us who have always had stacks of things can become inured to how we feel around them--stress isn't noticed as stress when it's there 24/7. I know that some hoarders feel safe when they're surrounded by things and they feel anxious when the stuff starts to go away--I never felt like that, I was so happy to see spaces open up. But I know that when I was at my worst I just took it for granted and stopped seeing what it actually was like, and the inconveniences just seemed like everyday life. I decided to go ahead and make my library trip--I thought I should stay home and keep working since I was making progress--every time I go anywhere, even a short trip, I come home feel like I need a long break! But I also don't like going after my dog walks, because by then my feet are starting to hurt and I just want to go home. So I walked over there, it didn't take long. It's a little warmer out than I thought it would be, but still comfortable. And now, as predicted, I'm going to take a break! Hopefully a short one. Diane

Well I looked through every single sent email in two email accounts. I cannot find it. So I am thinking I must have gone to some type of website and entered the information in that way. It's not my problem now - I was just trying to help.
I am banging my way through my list at work. there is one thing I need to do that I cannot do. I left my cell phone at home and in order to get into this top secret website to do my work - I need a code texted to me. Without my phone - I cant get in. That will be work for tomorrow.
DD has not evacuated yet - well, as of 11:30am. We have not heard from her since.
Trying to plan my work for tonight. I never got the box for DD in my car last night so I can go directly home. I am basically almost caught up on dishes so I might try to get the last lingering cookie sheets washed. And if the rain holds - it would be a good time to get the box in my car to drop off at DD's apt. I don't have to drop it off right away - but it would be out of my house and in the car.
Perhaps my best plan is 15 x 4. 15 mins in LR followed by 15 mins in kitchen followed by 15 mins on something else then 15 mins break. I can have the TV on in the LR and hear it in the kitchen. I can crank some music as it is unlikely anyone else will be home. My kitchen is getting crowded. I had cleared out a lot of space but the stuff has been slowly creeping into the free space. I am thinking of several items that can be put away in their proper space that would be a huge help.
OK - I am stalling. Back to work for me.

Good afternoon!
I go clutter blind SO quickly, it is astonishing. But after doing a thorough cleaning up last night, it was so nice to have the kitchen, dining and living spaces back to zero. It took a few minutes for DXH to recognize it, but I overheard him exclaim when it sunk in. He was a happy camper! He thanked me; made me feel good.
And he is going to have relatives visiting while I am out of town, so I am REALLY glad I got started on the cleaning up. We are going to wait on the rug installation, so that is a big relief. I can focus on admin stuff, packing, cleaning, and decluttering this week.
oh, and what I meant by "chucking it all" was chucking all my STUFF! my schedule is a bit better, the Friday thing got changed to Thursday, and I'm rescheduling the today thing.
DONE: catch up and plan w/ DXH check schedule for an event tomorrow night and invite friends check online balance and transfer $ update $ notebook fill new litter box
NEXT UP: check status of refills check status of RT

Scholar, I'm glad your XH noticed the clean house! After my break I finished the bathroom project, that is all done. Then I had lunch, then my sister called and gabbed and gabbed. Now my neck is stiff from trying to hold the phone with my shoulder so I could at least be looking things up on the computer while talking to her. I'm going to work in the plant room for a little while, and think about the plant light issue. Diane

Oust, 25 pounds! I hope you like it too!
I have a metal cabinet that I've had in my second bedroom since I moved in here. It's about 3 feet high, narrow, and has about 10 little drawers. When the 2nd BR was the orphan kitten room, it held medical supplies for them--syringes, needles, oral antibiotics, eye meds, probiotics, feeding tubes, formula, bottles, etc. When I was laid off at the shelter I returned a lot of the stuff but not all of it, because I had paid for some stuff myself and couldn't figure out what was mine and what was theirs, so I kept some things I thought I would be able to use for my own cats or strays in the future. So it still has syringes and needles, and baby bottles. Then later I used it for supplies for my cats, like flea meds I got for free as a perk while working at the animal hospital, gel caps I bought once while medicating a stray cat, etc. Almost everything is still in there, although very little gets used.
The last time I went through that room I considered getting rid of that cabinet--but, it sits on top of a dresser, and if I got rid of it, it wouldn't really create any new space--it would clear a little bit of space on top of the dresser, but no more space than is on top of the cabinet--which now has a large plant sitting on it.
Now, however, if I get rid of the cabinet it will clear space for the plant light. And, I could probably fit everything that's in there that's still good in a small box. The cabinet has rusted over the years and I'm ready to get rid of it rather than repurpose it somewhere else in the apartment--even though I have a weakness for cabinets of that type. The only other thing it would be good for is something small like office supplies, but I don't need a cabinet for those, I have two desks in my living room and I've pared MOST of the office supplies down to the desks.
So my next project is to empty out that cabinet and hopefully throw some stuff out from it. And then put the cabinet out in the alley for the metal folks.

rescheduled my appt right in the middle of another apptScholar, you need a large monthly wall calendar right at your desk. All outside appointments written in red. I personally need a one month view calendar in order to keep track of where things are in time--if I can't visualize the weeks in sequence I have no time sense of when things are. And you could write actual times on it that you can see from a few feet away... I have emptied the cabinet contents, everything I'm keeping fit into a small bin. The cabinet is sitting in the kitchen, I can't take it out before the dumpsters get here even though it will not go into the dumpster, I don't want them saying we had something blocking where they had to put the dumpsters. Then my shopping friend called, and wouldn't stop talking, after an hour and 40 minutes I told her I had to go. Then literally 30 seconds later my sister called, she said the phone I ordered for her online arrived, she started charging it, then it stopped charging and won't turn on. She's going to try the whole charging process over again, if that doesn't work I just don't know what to tell her. I'm starting to get a headache... I'm going to eat something now and try to zone out for a little bit. Diane

My day was busy. I just cooked the jasmine rice. It's very good. B eats brown and i am not keen on it. Separate rice from now on. I'm washing out Tupperware to store 25 lbs. I had to use the cart with wheels to get it home. Its heavy!
I had 3 messages today when I was out inquiring about the last ad I put out. Just met with one and I'm hired. 2 more appointments tomorrow and that should help the calendar. Cleaning customers not pet sitting.

I seem to have focused my energy on the kitchen tonight. Counters are scrubbed and decluttered. Every dirty dish is washed.
I also reset the washing machine.
My daughter just texted me that Jim Cantore from the weather channel just arrived in Wilmington NC where she lives.
I told her that is her sign to leave or to invite him over.

Oust, that's fantastic! There must be a demand for good cleaning help!
Now my decluttering client called. I sincerely hope I do not have to touch the phone again for the rest of the night.
Time to get ready for bed.
