Well, Diane, I have an agenda, but life or the universe or whatever has its own plans for me today so far.
I woke up to a little waterfall in my hallway, coming from the apartment upstairs. It was before the office was open, so I called the emergency number and had a crew of FOUR maint men in here for the past 3 hours.
They JUST left, and I sat down at the computer to catch my breath and no the CO detector is going off. I think it's because it got wet (it's very close to the waterfall).
I think I need to write a book. Of course it's going to need to be called FICTION because no one is gonna believe that all this is actually happening at once.
I am going to make coffee and try to ignore the BLARING alarm as I wait for the maintenance men to come back and do whatever they need to to turn this thing off. I can't reach it.

SetMeFree.....we have the same issue with mailing addresses. I live in little city at 123 Main Ave and neighboring town uses the Little City post office (and Little City as their mailing address). Neighboring town also has a 123 Main Ave but they are supposed to use 123 Main Ave East. That is supposed to differentiate between Little City and neighboring town. Never works though. we get their packages all the time. One day my tenant called in a panic as there was a for sale sign in our front yard. Yep - supposed to go to house in neighboring town. I called the real estate company and thought it was straightened out. but when they closed on that house - they paid my taxes and water bill. Yup - I will never use that real estate company. to compound the duplicate address thing - in the little city I live in, every street has a corresponding ave: 1st st 1st ave; 2nd st 2nd ave...My house is on 123 main ave and I work at 123 Main st. Hubby tried to deliver flowers to me at 123 Main St and they never came. Florist claimed the address did not exist as he was driving up and Main Ave.... Try to explain it to people and they tell me I am wrong. Anyway - last night I got a load washed and hung and threw another load in This morning got up and hung the overnight load to dry and threw in socks and underwear. they will go to the Laundromat tonight to dry I went to visit a friend who recently got out of the hospital. I brought small cups of decaf coffee for my friend and her sister and myself to enjoy. I think decaf has a race amount of caffeine because I was up a bit later last night... this visit put me behind on my errands last night - and in my haste I left my phone at one of my stops. I called and they out my phone in a safe location. I know have to run out at lunch and grab it. But I realized it was very important to me that I make that personal connection and make that stop. I spend a lot of time at meetings and things where I am in groups. I have forgotten how important that 1:1 or 2:1 time is. I have almost forgotten how to entertain or host someone in my home. Not host a party but host a person.

YAY! Good for you!
Ohblondie, your town's address system sounds like a nightmare--I always wonder why they do the street AND avenue thing--did they start out way back when with numbered streets and then decide they want to build more houses so had to build in between the first houses and call them avenues?
SetMeFree, that scenario of having water pouring down from above is my big nightmare, and I have lived through it multiple times. That's why I wrote that post in Script's surgery thread--it's not a question of if it will happen, but when. Unbelievably, it happened to you right in the middle of everything else. You'd better make that coffee, I think you need it badly the way your day has gone!
Next:
Check box inventory, I think I need more large boxes Break down a few smaller boxes to take out when I go Get little library books ready Get dog walk bag ready

OK, well no coffee was made and I'm not sure if I have some now it might keep me up. I think I'll skip it because the last thing I need is problems sleeping!
A maint man is here now and replacing the damaged co and smoke detectors. I really hope that's going to be the last of the problems for today.
DONE fed/watered catface took meds 2 load of laundry washed 1 load of laundry dried filled and ran DW stocked fridge with water sent request to Dr to refill meds purged a bottle of whiskey (gifted to a maint dude who went above and beyond the call of duty) paid a bill
NEXT UP check bank account update spreadsheet empty dryer shift washer load to dryer pay bills look at one box from storage unit carry laundry detergent back to bedroom shred

Hi Everyone!
Setmefree - hopefully the rest of day goes better and no more need to call maintenance men.
Ohblondie - the mailing thing sounds crazy
Oust - yay for them booking long term
Diane - hopefully it is nice day for πΆ walking
I think I have had epiphany on one of my problems. I seem to be all or nothing in some ways. I like to tackle projects and go all in but due to time constraints only get part done and then disaster happens and am back at beginning. Example - my shredding. I sorted and sorted stuff on bed and instead of sort and take care and repeat I did one step to completion - so piles ready for next step. Cats hate mess on bed so over it goes on floor. Now i have to pick it all up and redo. Today I am doing little complete steps on things. Take a bit - sort, garbage some, put some up, shred some till i have no little pile. Then grab another little pile. I did a little of it early in morning before work. Now did tiny amount while on lunch break. Then will do some more after work. Same with laundry I alway end up with all of it washed and dried but nothing folded or put up. I decided to clean fridge this way too. One shelf done then move on to next shelf.
Have to see how it goes. I am just tired of huge project big effort on doing each step completely but never getting to last steps to finish versus doing small chunk all steps.

Diane, this city is 150 years old. Streets run parallel to the river, avenues run perpendicular to the river. Other than that, no rhyme or reason

I am home from my walks, it is definitely warmer outside than in today, I put all the storms down in front so can't open my windows, but I'm sure it will get a little warmer in here because it's supposed to be near 70 until the weekend. It never did get under 68 in here so I guess it's okay. The birds seem unaffected, and my cat slept on the bed with me last night because I put a warm, plush throw down for him and he thought that was great. I'm finishing up lunch, I need to do some plant care and then will try to work on getting another book box together. I walked down some alleys to look for some larger boxes and wouldn't you know, the recycling around here must have been picked up yesterday, they are mostly empty . However, someone threw out a box just about the right size out in the open, I didn't even have to pull it out of a dumpster. Every time I look in alleys for boxes I remember the time that perfect size box was blowing down the ice in the alley right towards me... Diane

Today I am doing little complete steps on things
TML, that's an interesting observation, let us know how it goes trying to complete things in shorter batches. That will happen to me on a project sometimes, I think I will get more done than I'm capable of (or more often, I don't realize how much of something there actually is to work on) and I lose energy in the middle, so everything sits out for days until I finally finish it.

I'm home and made dinner. Its just leftovers so super easy. B has filled his little trash can again. How can he be filling it all the time but it looks no different? Start to finish task is how I work. I can't start anything huge because I know I won't finish. My stress levels would be worse if I had too many things on the go at once.

Hi Diane it seems to be working. I am just doing little bit at time (still multitasking some) but finishing it. I even folded some stuff and put it away.

Excellent, TML!
I have now put together, registered, and printed labels for two more boxes of books for the new site. I have not put in packing material, sealed up and affixed label--the part that takes the longest and is the most aggravating. I'm going to try to seal these boxes tonight and take them in tomorrow.
I also spent more time with the plants. Last week, when I placed my last order of the summer, there was a little cactus that was back ordered. It arrived, bare root, and had to be potted up. Well, it looked cute in the photo but it's even cuter in person--I love it and can't stop looking at it. It looks like someone took the bottom part of a green bell pepper, stuck it in dirt upside down, and glued spines on it! It's called Gymnocalycium Horstii.
Now I have to call my sister, she called and left a message while I was busy so I didn't answer.

Good evening!
SetMeFree I can recommend writing a book--my situation was relatively unusual, and I decided to document the process. I wrote it "blog style." I don't know if I will ever publish, or even get back to a second draft, but it was extremely therapeutic, on many levels! I've also shared it with some folks who said it was helpful. (Including DXH and The Other Woman, which was one of the unusual aspects.) You are such a good writer, I can see it being useful down the road!
Today I got some things on the grocery list, but that is about it. I'm realizing I won't be able to do everything on my social calendar. Socializing is hard. Oh, I also remembered that I have a roommate, and unloaded/loaded the dw.
I guess I will go look at my lists...

Bought a duster that captures all of the dust and used it to dust my living room ...Wow! Very effective...almost at satisfying as measuring the dirt that comes out of my canister vacuum.
