Sun TaDa Accidently purchased tension rods rather than the round rods with brackets. Hung 2 sheers. They widen to the distance, but droop 1" in the middle. No, not good enough, if I'm "finishing" a room, I want it right.
I've 3 narrower Windows upstairs where I was thinking of using tension rods, I'll see if these work.
AND they came out of the dryer wrinkly. Perhaps I used too firm a spin. A fail a fail a fail. I want it nice.
Sorry if I sound picky.

Not picky. Another person on her own blog here had relocated, and would talk about searching for the "perfect" this or that. I thought she was picky, and then she posted some photos and it clicked for me. Her efforts and attention to detail resulted in beauty. You have a vision, and you're really into fabrics. You're the boss, mouseanne! I'm not very visual, and I'm still aiming for decluttering and tidying. Someday I might hire someone for the vision.

Ah, the wisdom of goldenthreads. Glad you piped up. I was thinking of giving the ladder a try. Hung sheers on a skirt hanger Drying pjs Measured liv rm bureau drawers for foam core drawer inserts The drawers are quite deep, I'll put dvds and vcr tapes in the bottom, then a lift out tray on top. Puzzle books, possibly needle crafts in the tray. Now that I know the plan, I can just fill the drawers with the movies, out of the prev ent center. Ent center due upstairs pending being emptied.

goldenthreads, exactly. My living room curtains are salvation army, and Sun faded. But, I love them anyway. I've looked at curtains, the only thing they have right now, are those giant rod hole things. Pretty? Sure! But not my taste, and my house was built in 1920, has amazing woodwork. So, I'm happy with the ones I have. But, droopy curtain rods? Heck, no! You can slap curtains up, the Windows are covered, but with $45 at Wal-Mart, you can hang 2 sets liv rm curtains and sheers, and it looks nice. Just sayin'. Washing blacks

If you're talking about the ones with grommets, they can be really wrong. A friend had a set in her living room, and that, combined with the pale blue color, always made me think of shower curtains.
And now it's time for me to go. Many things to do. Hope I didn't distract you too much. I've enjoyed it.

Sun TaDa Ok, so, memory issues...
This week, I put away the folding suitcase rack in a random, not organized cupboard/closet. There was a wrapped up bundle of curtain rods.
Get em out. Haroo! Hooray! Oh! Frabjous day!
There are 2 of the rods I want, long enough. And one set of brackets.
Ok, to check the hardware rubbermaids.
Yes, giant grommets. Dynamic. But, personally, not my thing.
So glad you were here. Thank you.

Sun TaDa Checked hardware, lots of flat curtain rod brackets, one lonely round bracket, a couple more round ones, but much too small, so still need one set of brackets. Friend came over to babysit my ladder work Took down left hardware, installed left
I absolutely could not get off the (old sheer) flat curtain rod bracket. The wood is 100 yr old maple, and not giving up those brads for anything. I wasn't willing to fall backwards off the ladder for them, so left them. They won't show under the curtains, so be it.
I still have 3 brackets to install. I could tell I was way too tired for ladder work, so stopped. Silly mousie.
Made cookies on parchment, tilted the first sheet, they slid right off into the bottom of the oven. Scraped them out, made the rest, it was a half batch, only a 1/2 cup choc chips cuz I was didn't have enough sugar for a full batch.
Good news, the smoke alarm in the dining room works, and will wake me if needed.
Man, my lungs are tight from the smoke.
Mon TaDa Piled pjs on bed Dry, hang, fold blacks
The adventure continues.

Tues TaDa before my shower (spider webs) 4 boxes to basement, 3 purchase boxes, one whatever box that was in the way in the laundry room a small stack of wood from laundry room to basement landing dug around in the basement while I was there set aside for dealing with later, 4-5 boxes of paper set aside a bag of fabric which is to be my new robe, but before I can make it, in one of 100's of boxes, I would need to find the pattern. So, I now know where the fabric is. a bag of something I want to give my attention to (don't remember what now) I located 3-4 boxes of canning jars, set them aside found small 2 rubbermaid totes of hardware, put them in a more logical spot I was on the hunt for various things, like bread pans and a particular tote which has hot glue guns and glue sticks. no joy in bread pans, but I was puttering though 1 box of sewing do-dads, there was a glue gun. Hmm, I know there's at least two guns in the tote, but I didn't find it. And that means I'm up to 3 glue guns. Gah. Lost resources due to excess. *shake it off* I brought up the box of sewing do-dads, and moved the bag of ice melt from the landing up to the laundry room. I think I got a spider bite, I had a brown recluse bite before, they itch like crazy before they start hurting. This one itched a lot, and the middle segment of my left middle finger is purple, but stopped itching and never started hurting. Perhaps it was a bitty one with a tiny amount of venom. Note to self....gloves and shoes, not sandals, when working in the basement. Brushed my hair over the tub, then showered. I put my nightgown right in the washer, door shut. It's HE, so it seals. I'll wash jeans and sweats tonight. Kill whatever might be in the nightgown. Yea, I know bees are beneficial and insects, not arachnids...anyway.

Tues TaDa home for lunch, ate the 2nd sweet tater, heated in the microwave went through the sewing do-dad box ..a lunch size paper bag full of crewel/needlepoint yarn, most likely wool. I sealed it into a gal zip bag ..a small tin I used as a trash can on my desk, it's about the shape of an oval trash can, only about 6" tall ..a couple of sterlite plastic flip top containers, you know, about 5-1/2" cube ..various sewing bits, platic rings, iron on patch, needles ..Yay! my magnetic pin keeper. Has nice sewing pins, long & thin, on it, too ..a handful of patterns ..now, get this. a Joann's shopping trip bag, 9 new patterns and 12, yes, 12 new cones of serger thread. I looked at the receipt. 1999. Some of the patterns may be iffy-but for the most part they are "office wardrobe" so were ok. 21 year old brand new patterns and thread. I was trying to figure how it ended up as basement-fodder. Well, 20 years ago, I moved out of my rental into a house I bought. I had less main floor square footage, so, lots of sewing stuff went to the basement. Lost forever.
Note: none of the patterns are the specific robe pattern I'm on the watch for. One is a pair of jeans, I need to look it over to see if it's my "altered to me" jeans pattern. Not that I'm still the same as then, maybe. No, thinking...there's a jean pattern altered to fit me plus 50 lbs. I lost that amount, hmm, 12-15 years ago? Now that I've thought through the timeline, above, this might be a jeans pattern that fits...it should be BEFORE the 50# weight gain.
I think I'll put the patterns in a roaster at 200* for an hour, then I won't run into any creepies as I dig through them.
Off loaded everything in the box into a basket I brought up at the same time. I'm going to use the basket as an up/down tool on the main/2nd floor stairs.
The empty box is in the outside trash bin.

I laughed because I thought you were joking, and then I remembered Fahrenheit 451, and thought Oh, yeah, that would work. The papers will survive.
What a useful lunch break! More steps accomplished for the sewing room.

What a useful lunch break! More steps accomplished for the sewing room. No, not joking at all. I got a bite this morning, it looks pretty nasty. It's magenta purple from between the first/second joint to between the second/third joint, 1" by 1/2", middle finger left hand. I put glue traps in all the upstairs (2nd floor) rooms and closets, the bathroom trap has about 20 brown recluse on it. *shudder* I went through a brown recluse bite the January I was 48. It was miserable. I took more serious pain medication with the bite than I did with the hysterectomy I'd had the prior fall. Those spiders are seriously venomous. I don't want to bring spiders or eggs up to the living areas.
