okay this does seem to be helping! I got the towels and rags sorted, which got things moving a bit. I managed to put all of the random bins into three main zones: car/RV stuff to be sorted; tools to be put away and empty bins etc. this made a huge difference, as I can see the scope of work again.

Yesterday was no plus 1. My aim became to wash the dishes, with no other expectation. I got there doing little categories at a time. Changing the water as often needed. Hoping for basic basics today.

NewLifeToday; what a wonderful welcoming thread; I belong here. Thank you. Reading about your basics plus one is inspiring. I push myself too hard in too many areas and avoid making my home better - then I collapse into depression and overwhelm. I am moved also by reading your post, MakingChanges. So glad you/we are all here. This thread is like a cool oasis in a desert of self neglect - thank you so much, NewLife.
I've backslid so far behind the basics - so the very first order is to get back on track with the few basics i try to do. I have kept up only with making the bed and scooping. Dishes need to get back on this list. I'd be happy with getting them done 3 times a week at this point! The rest has been head-in-sand and it's time to try to get my most intimate part of my life back - my environment. Times are hard for so many; there is so much suffering going on. We're all empathetic people, and so it's important to help out whevever possible, as so many people are struggling. And... shouldn't we be on that list of people to help? I know i have put myself last on the list and no one else is "making" me do that but myself. Time to put the Oxygen Mask on!
First order of the rest of this day will be catch up on dishes and try to reclaim even a tiny part of the kitchen floor. right now it's a sea of dirt, trash, chaos, and food with noplace to put it. the whole apt is this.
I wish us all peace and ease and flow as we do our basics plus one - slowness allows us to savor the little details that make life rich; the things you can't see, smell, taste, touch while you are riding a speeding horse!

Hi mylittlescholar How nice to read your posts. I'm glad you are getting a good view. Hi wynken . Congrats on the dishes! I always appreciate your posts. I hope you like your method. I don't care for a sink or a basin of dish water. So I soap up something, get it clean, and rinse it under running water. I try to be conservative with the water, but I really don't like dealing with things in dishwater. Hi creativechaos . Thanks for your kind words and post. I like the idea of peace and ease and flow. Thank you for the lovely inspiration. I've been mostly on minimal basics the last few days. Some rest, not enough, and much work for family. Today's goal: basics+one with grace. Best wishes to all for success and beautiful moments.

thanks, NewLifeToday! today is a rest day... I'm experiencing mystery fatigue so I'm happy to have gotten a meal made and a shower taken and some online banking done.

mylittlescholar. I hope you can rest up and recover. My "beyond the basics" of late: wash new shower curtain and put up bleach the old shower curtain and hang out to dry PUPA from a box brought in from the car Using box as a side table until I get something to use next to my rocker. Meanwhile, it's food prep and clean up, hand wash, some exercises, inspirational reading, and making sure to drink water and take supplements. Rest this afternoon, as tomorrow and Friday are days of many chores and errands. Best wishes to all for taking good care of yourselves.

mylittlescholar. I hope you are getting rested up and feeling well. I ran some needed errands today, rather than waiting. Said "NO" a couple of times this week, which was necessary. Took amnesty on some more things in the kitchen and tossed them. Am looking forward to my rest day tomorrow.

rest is such an important part of life, NewLifeToday and mylittlescholar. Good job taking care of the necessary, saying NO to the unnecessary, and getting some rest.
not much to report; i have let things fall more behind - except at the garden. i am behind but getting some stuff done little by little there. i won't talk about the apt or storage units but they are heavy on my heart, mind, and shoulders.
my big "plus ones" for this week were: 1. finally finishing my 2016 tax forms and getting them MAILED off - probably too late for my refund but maybe they will take mercy on me and give it to me even though it's 5 days past the expiration. 2. i just emptied my car of all "harvest" and other food including winter squash. the last thing i need is a rat or mouse moving into my car. not sure where i will put it all. maybe i'll take a long shower tonight and then put it in the bathtub! not the greatest solution, but there is no where else to store it.
now, i need to get to my "dailies" - dishes, picking up some trash, scooping. and ablutions... i need a shower BAD.

Best thoughts to all for taking good care of yourselves. Getting caught up on handwash. Bought a nifty footstool I can use to sit on in front of the computer. Wiped off the tops of some cupboards. That required a ladder. Did a thorough job, which will last a while. Keeping up on buying a few extra canned goods when I shop, for the pantry shelves. Doing okay on exercises, and grooming chores. Trying to make sure I get that "+ 1" in to make progress, and not just tread water. Treading water is wearing. Progress in encouraging.

Hello NewLifeToday, and everyone else here! I tend to make a general plan of attack each season, usually one or two "big" projects that are then broken into various sized steps. I give myself the entire season to accomplish them and don't fret the days, or even weeks, when it can't or doesn't come onto the radar. This winter the three main projects are: finish my bedroom sort through six boxes of childhood memorabilia in the basement clear off the top of pool table in the basement Of these three, finishing turning my bedroom into the kind of space I've wanted for some time is the priority and will also take the most physical effort. I'm not even at the stage of breaking down these projects into concrete, do-able steps but wanted to drop in and state my intentions at least. Baby steps, turtle speed, snail's pace...it's all forward movement!

Had a stretch of days of just basics, and am now putting the +1 in, wherever it can go in. Little tasks help me keep going: put the receipts in chronological order cleaned out my handbag started on winter cleaning projects
