Little tasks add up NewLifeToday...I really enjoy my daily to-do lists -- all little tasks that are done in under five minutes. Even those I prioritize in case I don't get past task #1. Posting an update on the puttering I've been doing re decluttering the pool table. I first eyeballed what I could see on it and determined that about one third of what I saw can go into either the garden or tool shed. So what I've been doing is grabbing one or two items from the pool table every now and then when I am in the basement (for cat litters or woodstove) and bringing those to the front door. I let a few accumulate there and then when I go out with the dogs I bring one or two items with me and put into the right shed. I'm not doing any integrating of stuff in those sheds right now, just getting the stuff that belongs there, in there. It's painless work so far! Unearthed a couple of small plastic containers on pool table that I brought up to my bedroom to corral some loose ends up here. Today's a putter in the bedroom day...I've an eye on one box in particular. Watching the snowfall through the window, with a dharma talk in the background...the mood is set!

Tossed some jars of food I had been saving, waiting to find a place to donate.
De-squaloring the food plan:
Cooked some food to lessen the amount of canned food on the menu.

Cleaned a fan. Back of car mostly cleaned out. Took some food I can't use to a neighbor. To Do: something nice and regenerative.

I feel like I’m slow on everything. Probably mostly because I procrastinate too much. Things that are too hard, or I can’t decide on I push back. I will start working on a project and then realize it’s been a week and I’m still not done. Does it really take a week to clean off the kitchen counters? Or to rearrange the living room? Shouldn’t I be able to get those done in a day?
One thing I was doing was playing games as a procrastination tool. I was just doing this all day and getting nothing done. I was laid off after being at my job for 32 years, and it has left me in a real daze. Money is not a problem, it’s just the structure and time management. When you have nowhere to go and nothing you absolutely have to do, then what? I should be getting tons done with all this free time yet feel like I have accomplished nothing. To save money I got rid of my storage place, and it all came here. That’s what I’ve been doing the last two weeks, selling off the collectibles. If you’ve ever done from home online sales, bless you! It’s a lot of work taking pics, answering questions, making invoices, calculating shipping, wrapping packing and getting it there. Sometimes I spend all day just getting shipments ready. But these things have to go and they’re valuables that I’m not going to donate or trash, so it’s a must do. For now my porch is filled up with the contents of my storage unit. I have to go through them, it’s not a matter of it’s been packed away I don’t need it it was a matter of I moved into a home half the size due to foreclosure and I had to get out. So stuff that I needed and wanted went to the storage unit because I had no choice.
I really had no idea after coming back to this site after being gone a couple of years where to start. I don’t wanna keep making a new post for every thing that I do. This just seem like a good general thread that I could be a part of. Thank you.
I already took my one shipment to the post office today, so unless another sale comes in I have some time to get other projects done. I’m really in the mood to purge. Throw things out kind of purge. I want to do it but I can’t help feeling bad about it. The reasons why our environmental impact to landfills and such. Waste, can’t stayWaste. Usually sentiment is a factor but these aren’t even sentimental things. I’m going to try really hard to throw these things out and look at it as a matter of I have to do what’s best for me.

mylittlescholar Your staying up on the basics looks very good! Hope your day is going nicely. Weeded some bowls out of my cupboard. They just might get tossed rather the efforts of donating. Weeded some poor food choices out of the food plan. . Renewed my choice to walk a healthier line in that area. Used some tallow I decided not to cook with and made soap. Thinking of what categories are next for downsizing....

y'all!
I'm weeding out the pantry as well. Since its not my pantry, I'm only tossing things that have gone bad, and am boxing up the sugar and flour. M is going to be home in three weeks, but in the meantime, I'd like to be able to get some of my stuff into the panty.
I paused the project over the weekend, and so the kitchen is in the exploded stage. Tomorrow I need to get back to it!

A few TaDa's:
Lots of chores for family done. Found a better way to think about my responsibilities. Cleaned out part of the car. A few rounds of dishes. Trash and recycling out. Time for supper and unwinding.

Posting an update on the under-the-basement-stairs and pool table winter declutter project: - All boxes under the stairs have been gone through, organized and dealt with - Pool table surface is over half clear. One box of Year 2000 memorabilia is staying under the stairs. I'm using the space temporarily to store boxes of garden shed stuff that came off of the pool table and which I can't get to because of snow. Didn't really need access to it, so did not keep a path shoveled. Will move those when the snow melts. Picking off stuff literally one or two items per day (or week ) and still making progress! Painlessly as far as time and effort goes! Three boxes of my childhood memorabilia...was a blast to unearth that stuff and see it again. Had to let go of 8 childhood books that had mold, but everything else is okay and safely stowed in a trunk in my bedroom now. Tried on a skirt I remember Mom buying for me (and one for younger sister too) when I was seven years old. It fits!! Lime green naugahyde anyone? (Little sister got a blue one.) This has been such a leisurely clearing I'm not even sure if it counts as a project! Side project, maybe. LauraLotsaStuff, it is hard to carve out a routine for many people who are at home with "nothing to do" all day. Start small, maybe a short morning routine revolving around kitchen, a short afternoon routine revolving around living areas, a short evening routine revolving around bedtime and bedroom. Don't beat yourself up over this, you've got a lot to adjust to emotionally and mentally. Good stuff that doesn't sell online can be put to one side for donation to charity auctions if such things happen in your community. PLAN for a day or two a week of pure escapism if that is necessary as you transition. Good luck and good wishes to you! Good luck and good wishes also to you NewLifeToday, and to all here who Putter With Purpose!

Made a tiny oasis of order and beauty on the table currently serving as a nightstand. A pretty box for pens and pencils. A standing spectacles holder replete with plush lining. A pretty box for nail files and such. Bits of beauty help inspire further steps.

Added another shelf to the storage in the kitchen. Sterilized and refilled water filter pitcher. Wiped down AC housing. Wiped down hall floor. Gearing up for another round of sorting, tossing and PUPA.
