ahhhh.... back to this cool oasis after many months in the desert! thank you for keeping this going, NewLifeToday, and for posting these simple actions that all add up to better. Great job on expanding areas of maintenance, cleaning,
i enjoy reading here on everyone's progress in thinking, doing, self care! you all have given me a new way to think, you especially, NLT - "it's not good, but better." "PUPA is not yet PEEP, but it's better."
starting not from square 1, more like -120... (but also some )
took a grocery bag plus pair of shoes to consignment on Friday found bottom of disgusting sink, trying to do dishes more often than when sink becomes completely unusable (better but still not good) started a box of "outgoing" stuff
i'm thrilled to be back on the boards, however sporadically. i have missed it so much - and you.

creativechaos , thank you for your very kind, encouraging words. Every step counts. Today in my Plus One category: Wiped down part of a floor. Cleaned a mirror, two fixtures on the wall, the top of a cabinet, and a light fixture. Cleaned a ceiling fan, not well done, but much better. Scrubbed more than half the shower stall. Whew! Summer Maintenance: Keeping up on changing frozen gel packs in my DIY evap. coolers. Put two fans to blow on me, under AC so I have cool air in one part of the domicile. Working more honestly to stay out of the realm of anxiousness/fretting/fear and all the related exaggerations and extremes. Realizing prayer, and where my thoughts and being dwell, are not so much in thinking words, but in dwelling in the place of life, of giving love, which brings more peace. A challenge when situations are delicate or urgent, but all the more necessary. As squalor begins in my reactions, and then my reactions to those reactions, etc., I am working on the inside as well as in PUPA, cleaning, and choosing not to re-clutter. One minute at a time. One choice at a time.

Great job NewLifeToday and creativechaos!!! Oh my goodness, I just happened to open this thread since it was the first one in Listzilla today and am amazed that you just wrote this: "Working more honestly to stay out of the realm of anxiousness/fretting/fear and all the related exaggerations and extremes." Just before I opened the SoS site a moment ago, I had the exact same thought! I was feeling anxious about all I need to do today, esp since I'm way behind in every aspect of my life, esp work and I thought about just taking everything one moment at a time, keep taking tiny steps and try my best not to fall into the vortex of my own swirling mind. I like the way that you so succinctly phrased it NewLifeToday. Good luck and good job!!!!

seahorse How kind you are. Thanks for your encouragement. Instead of trying to overcome or fight the fears and anxieties, I am currently taking a different approach. Just doing things in realms where they are not, and increase my living in those healthier realms. Rather like staying clear of a sinkhole on my way to where I want to go. Best wishes to you for a very nice day.

DDD/TR is the basic daily minimum.
Plus One lately:
cleaned and bleached drain in shower and part of pipe
cleaned a ceiling fan, not a good job, but much better
cleared and cleaned a corner by the door. Toss! Then clean. It was actually easy, but I had avoided for what felt like years.
cleared and cleaned part of kitchen counter. PUPA, re-order, wiped off some supplement bottles. More to do on this
wiped various parts of floor
a round of PUPA in the kitchen
I want to live in maintenance mode, not in a slump with tiny spurts of cleaning, tossing, and PUPA.

DDD/TR intact.
Plus One:
bleached more water bottles
cleaned floor of shower
cleaned kitchen sink
wiped some small areas on floor
wiped out Holmes air purifiers, and replaced HEPA and carbon filters.
tiny bit of PUPA
appropriated something for better use

Posting an update on the under-the-basement-stairs and pool table winter declutter project: - All boxes under the stairs have been gone through, organized and dealt with - Pool table surface is over half clear. One box of Year 2000 memorabilia is staying under the stairs. I'm using the space temporarily to store boxes of garden shed stuff that came off of the pool table and which I can't get to because of snow. Didn't really need access to it, so did not keep a path shoveled. Will move those when the snow melts. NewLifeToday, I am sorry about such a tardy update! I've quoted my own post from four (!) months ago, edited to update a particular point. There was a delay of a few weeks re bringing garden and pet supply items to the garden shed. The snow did melt, of course, however not before the weight of it caused the metal shed roof to collapse in on one side. I contacted my handyman neighbour in mid-spring to see if he could/would repair the roof. He came to see it a couple of weeks later and said it was possible to fix. We agreed that his payment would be a barter...he'd been interested in a small pull-along trailer sitting in my field. This particular neighbour is an amazing fix-it guy but he works on his own time schedule. He didn't come back to do the repair until just a month ago. I'd taken everything out (nothing was damaged) and had the chance to go through that at that time and give another neighbour about 50 plastic pots and seed starter cells. Sorted through what else was there and put some containers into the toolshed so they wouldn't get rain-damaged while waiting for repair. Handyman did do a good job with the metal shed, reinforcing the metal rafters with wood and bending back the sides into shape. (And he only just picked up the trailer last week.) So now the boxes under the basement stairs are in the garden shed as planned (along with everything that I had to remove for the repair work) but not yet organized onto their respective shelves. And I have not yet attended to the stuff I put into the toolshed while waiting for the repair. Moving at a snail's pace, but the stuff is inching its way into organization. The pool table itself is almost clear and I really don't know what to do with the standing grandfather clock which is lying on it waiting for the day I can afford an expensive repair, and another huge wall clock in the same state, along with a few short bars and weights, and surprise! miscellaneous pool-playing items. So that's the update. Will putter along with this project...there is progress! Well done NLT on your own various clearing and organization projects!

Thanks NewLifeToday! Nice to see you back. I've had to make a different "plan of attack" re the garden shed. I've been puttering and organizing in there recently and now that I have all the "like with like" it seems that the garden shed should be just that, a shed for gardening stuff, and the pet accessories can be housed in either the tool shed, or on a couple of shelves in the basement. Still not a fait accompli by any means but I'm much clearer in direction now. Will update now and then. Good luck to you and all here with progress, slow but sure!

mynicehome Your puttering sounds very successful. I am having a rest day after doing much to help family, and getting there and back. Bare minimum today: Tied up a trash bag Changed gel packs in DIY evap coolers Hand wash Simple cooking and food Two showers and a few stretches. More tomorrow, including shopping shortly after dawn.

Washed two windows. More handwash. Cleaned blinds in front of the clean windows. Wiped down wall and base board around those windows. Wiped down floor in that area.
Two bags of trash and a bit of recycling out.
Made plan for errands tomorrow.
Finally conditioned and brushed my hair.
Am behind on dishes, but will do some in the AM.

OK. The working on being kinder needs consistency. Principle, not personality.
Not neglecting any mess includes all of life.
The portable ACs are a monkey wrench in the order of things in the room. I need a new design. Creative process time required.
New demands on me require further simplification of lifestyle and further paring down of belongings.
Areas to "weed out":
Kitchen Paper piles
Get Help for ideas and moving things around, perhaps for something else.
