Hi, my name is happycamper and I'm a device addict. Be it phone or tablet or smart TV, I am constantly being entertained and distracted by some sort of technology. Hours if not days can go by without me noticing and without anything getting done (getting to "the next level" doesn't count!)My idea here is to take advantage of the built in breaks called ADVERTISING to get off my butt and do something.
Phone or Tablet: any time I am forced to watch an ad to continue playing, I will decide what action I will take, start the ad, set the device down and go do whatever I decided upon. Once done, I may return to the device and play some more.
TV: before starting to watch, make a list of several quick chores that can be completed in 1 or 2 minutes, or that can be easily and efficiently worked over several commercial breaks. Select a show that does contain commercials, then start.
Report back here to list Ta Da!
Let's see how this works 😏 Play along!

Game paused to earn discounted play time. Wrote post. Not sure if that should count but for just this once it will.
Game pause chore ideas: wash dishes, wrap a gift, rotate laundry, clean out car (might brake this one up), tidy my side of bed
TV commercial break quickie ideas: sweep Living Room floor, dust living room, fill pill boxes, water plants, bring up wrapping paper/tape/scissors/tags

I love this! I play this game when I'm really depressed - if all I can do is lay on the sofa watching tv, then every time the ads need doing, I have to get up and do something. I start at the opposite end of my house to the kitchen, walk in the first room, do whatever I can see that I can do in a couple of minutes, and then go lay back on the sofa. The last thing I do is put the dishwasher on, because if I am really depressed, there's probably dishes everywhere.
Good luck!!

I love this! I play this game when I'm really depressed... Good luck!! I was so blah yesterday I just HAD to make a change today. Baby steps. And thanks! Ad for free bonus minutes. Put away a rack of dishes, started a crock of Perpetual Soup, washed those associated dishes. Tried to start a blog about one soup's journey called Perpetual Soup and just couldn't do it. I dont know why posting some pictures and words is so complicated. WordPress just didn't work for me. Couldn't get past the set up. I have it just as I want it on my notes app but can't get it from there to either Facebook or WordPress. Ack! This is why I choose games

I used to do this when I had a TV and watched football. I made a divided list before each game. There was usually one thing to do at halftime, and sets of very short tasks to do during the shorter breaks. I got very good at predicting the length of commercial breaks depending on the football reason for the break. I could even sense the play clock and do a touch less than 40 seconds' worth of something while they changed out players and were in the huddle. Football games were the only time I got ironing done, and I could do that anytime during the game.
I'm guessing I got 40 minutes/1 hour of chores done during the three hours, so it was productive.
Good luck with the method!

Changed games. Quick build bonus time! Tidied part of my bedside space, then was interrupted by DH in search of car papers. Looked in filing cabinet, his truck, my car, finically found them in box of junk on porch.

Put away a couple of things during video ad break.
I think I know that box of junk. It has several things from the last time the vehicle got sorta cleaned out, plus miscellaneous stray things from porch and yard.

If by cleaned out you mean frantic shoving of stuff into any available container because husband decided at last minute to take the car instead of his truck, then yes. Same box

Your tv breaks last only a minute? Over here you watch 20 minutes of a film and then 15 - 20 minutes of commercials.

If I watch live tv, which I rarely do, then yes it’s a good solid 5-10 minutes. Usually I’m watching something from an app, and those breaks tend to be much shorter.
